The ball is in Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s court, as Milan reportedly offered a six-month deal with an option to extend the contract for an additional year, worth a total €6m. The 38-year-old is set to leave MLS club LA Galaxy in December and a return to Milan looks very likely, after the reports on established contact between the player and club’s representatives. Now it’s reportedly up to the former Sweden international to make his choice, and the Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Milan has offered to pay the superstar €6m if he stays on for 18 months. It’s previously been suggested that Ibrahimovic would want €1m per month, but Milan look prepared to offer him one third of that. The initial deal offered by sporting director Zvonomir Boban to the player’s agent Mino Raiola is said to be a six-month contract. Over the phone, Zlatan has told Boban that he will decide on his future within a few weeks. Milan are back in Serie A action this weekend, when Napoli come to visit and need to respond from a slow start to the season, leaving them 14th in the League after 12 games. |

Mauricio Pochettino is being considered by Bayern Munich to take over as permanent manager at the Allianz Arena, according to Sky in Germany. No contact has been made with the Argentine following his sacking from Tottenham, but he is understood to be high among their list of candidates for the vacant role currently being filled by interim boss Hansi Flick. Pochettino departed Hotspur Way this week after five years in charge of Spurs, guiding the club to its first-ever Champions League final last term. |

Sky in Italy are reporting that this is a very difficult deal: the meeting was cordial, but the problem concerns the contract to be offered to the player. Milan would be willing to guarantee an 18-month contract, but Ibrahimovic still demands a very high salary. Ibrahimovic will decide on his future in the coming weeks and nothing has been agreed yet but talks have started between the two parties about a possible return to the San Siro. Ibrahimovic scored 56 goals in 85 appearances in his first spell at the club, where he won the Scudetto. |

Danny Rose has revealed he will leave Tottenham at the end of his contract in 18 months - but insists he is going nowhere before then. Spurs were understood to be keen to offload the left-back in the summer, and left him out of their squad for the pre-season trip to Asia so he could "explore prospective opportunities with other clubs". "I've said I've got 18 months left on my contract and I'm not going anywhere until my contract has finished. "Daniel Levy told me in the summer there was no new contract for me at Tottenham, which is fine. I respect that. We move on. "My contract is up in 18 months' time and I'll leave the football club then. People can save their time trying to get stuff ready for January about me being sold because I can tell you now; it isn't happening. 1 Like 1 Share |

Jose Mourinho has been appointed Tottenham manager, succeeding Mauricio Pochettino who was sacked on Tuesday. Former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Mourinho has signed a contract until the end of the 2022-23 season. "The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me," said the 56-year-old Portuguese. "Working with these players is what has attracted me." Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said: "In Jose we have one of the most successful managers in football." Mourinho has been out of work since being sacked as Manchester United manager in December 2018. He takes over a Spurs side that are 14th in the Premier League and without a win in their last five games. Pochettino led the north London club to last season's Champions League final, where they lost to Liverpool. Mourinho has turned down a number of job opportunities, including in China, Spain and Portugal, since leaving Old Trafford. |

Den Bosch have apologised to Excelsior Rotterdam's Ahmad Mendes Moreira for declaring the striker mistook "crow sounds" for racist abuse during Sunday's Dutch second division match. The referee brought the players off after half an hour as a result of the abuse from a section of the home fans. "Den Bosch were completely wrong yesterday with its initial reaction," the club said in a statement. "It appears there was racist abuse from the stands." On Sunday the club stated that opposition players near the De Viert stand inside their De Vliert stadium were regularly treated to a "crow concert" by the home support. But on Monday, they said: "That reaction was a blunder for which the club apologises to everyone, in particular to Excelsior player Ahmad Mendes Moreira. "The club is further investigating what actually happened and will make every effort to find and punish those who are guilty of this." Dutch football authorities have also opened an investigation into the incident. |

Soccer showman Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 99th goal for Portugal as the defending champions qualified for the UEFA Euro 2020 finals. The Portugal captain poked the ball over the line in the dramatic closing stages of the match to seal a 2-0 win over Luxembourg -- and put him on the brink of becoming only the second man in history to net 100 international goals. The 34-year-old Ronaldo has scored his 99 goals in 164 appearances for Portugal, adding to his standing as Europe's top international goal-scorer. Only Iran's Ali Daei has scored more goals in world football with 109 -- a landmark now surely in sight for Ronaldo. 1 Like |

Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte received an anonymous letter containing a bullet and a number of threats, according to reports in Italy. The details, revealed by Corriere della Sera, say that the threatening piece of post has left a cloud over the club with security stepped up following its delivery to Conte. Police are said to be investigating the possible sender and will be testing the envelope for fingerprints in a bid to discover the identity, and therefore motive for threatening the former Chelsea, Juventus and Italy boss. Conte has unsurprisingly taken the decision to protect himself and his family in the aftermath of receiving the letter and has stepped up security at his home and at the club's training ground. The plan is for video surveillance system on the road of Conte's home to be analysed as well as training ground in case a secondary delivery is made. There is a belief that it could simply be an attention seeker and that the threats are not serious, but both Conte and the club are said to have been warned to be vigilant in case that is not the case. |
