Princewill Chimezie Richards, leader of the Biafra Nations League, BnL, has ordered his men to take down Cameroonian flags from Bakassi Peninsula, insisting that BnL will not tolerate foreign flags flying along with the Biafran flags in the territory. Richards, who disclosed this to Sunrise Daily declared total shutdown of the Peninsula from this week. Ordering Biafran rebels in the region to disarm government Forces he described as "foreign armed groups" and hold government officials hostage. He declared the Peninsula "a no go area" for oil firms and government officials visiting the region. Meanwhile, Cameroon is suffering from the destruction of two major oil installations by militant groups loyal to the BnL as fuel scarcity and price hike worsen. Authorities say they are likely to fix the damages and resume drilling alongside Nigeria at the maritime border of Bakassi before the end of January. Cameroonian government failure to resolve crisis in Bakassi have sparked series of violent protests in Duala and Yaounde following high increase in price of the commodity as citizens continue to lament. Some groups in Cameroon have asked the government to grant the BnL militants amnesty , revealing more attacks could collapse the economy of the country.

At 10am on Sunday, 24 December, 2023 an explosion was heard near the oil drilling site which left 11 Joint Border Security men dead. Eye witness who pleaded anonymous said the explosion rocked the Nigeria side of the border, the source said the militant group bypassed their community with speed boats and in less than 30 minutes the explosion was heard. Few days ago, the Dragon Fighter Marine bombed two oil installations which has left Cameroon government in panic. Simon Ekpa, Finland based Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) during a joint press briefing with his Ambazonia counterpart days ago stated that there will be no resumption of oil. 8 persons feared dead as explosion hits Bakassi Peninsula Explosion has killed 8 persons at the military checkpoint in Bakassi Peninsula. Eight persons believed to be members of the Rapid d'intervention Battalions, BIR, a Cameroon elite military unit that reports directly to President Paul Biya were killed during the blast in the afternoon by 1pm, December 2, 2023. The incidence happened near the staff quarters of oil companies in Atabong East area. A militant group drove with two boats and fired explosives towards the direction of the military checkpoint. Dragon Fighter Marine, a pro Biafra loyalist group claimed responsibility for the attack.
