I initially selected Abuja while filling out my DS 160 and before paying my MRV, but I can see interview dates available for both Lagos and Abuja. Can I choose a date in Lagos and attend the interview there instead? Will this cause any issues? Thanks.

i contacted the customer care asking this question and they told me i should fill out a new ds 160 if i want to go to lagos embassy, so to avoid confusion/wahala it’s best to just do abuja

1. If you have received the activation email, and your AVITS dashboard presently displays " Pending Appointment " Then, the embassy has worked on your old MRV. All you need do is to log in once in a day by clicking on the pending appointment. Your pending appointment will display calendar when the embassy are ready for you.

2. Raise another ticket with your Form-I 20. SEVIS fee payment receipt , and MRV. Restart your computer or browsing gadgets. Log out of Avits and Log in again. It can also be the USA embassy delaying tactics, especially for Lagos. We need patience.

i’m actually abuja but will do! God bless you and i forgot to say but when i raised ticket twice the first time i was told to wait to get a response and i did then the second time which was last week wednesday i was told that my issue was successfully escalated and i should wait for an update

1. The USA embassy gave directive and warnings, regarding the timeline to pay MRV before the update. They also gave deadline to pay physically at the bank and via GTB App.

2. In this respect , majority of those who paid before the update, paid at the eleventh hour and must have broken rules, hence, their inability to proceed smoothly with the appointment bookings.

3. However, any applicant who could not or did not have appointment before the update, either you paid legally or you paid at the eleventh hour, all have a WORST CASE SCENARIOS. Only those with previous appointments before the update, and the fresh applicants who are ready to pay MRV have a better hope of quick attention.

4. In your case, your dashboard is not supposed to display " PENDING APPOINTMENT REQUEST" Because you have old MRV payment receipt which can never be used to initiate your new appointment, unless , you have received an acknowledgement email from the embassy or activation email.

* Yes ,you can cancel your pending appointment or the pre-approval request , and start all over again , and you should be able to change location since you have not gotten a final date. Do not worry about DS-160. You can always fill another DS-160 to match the new location (embassy post).

PS: Majority of the F1 VISA applicants, who are complaining of one issues or the others, have complicated their issues themselves. Some did not have I-20 (and you are supposed to upload I-20 when requesting appointment), some have I-20 but they did not date-sign it. Some have not even paid SEVIS fee, which makes you a complete F1 VISA applicant in the context of the USA embassy.

PS: Although, all these challenges is being caused by the the update , which is still ongoing , as well as the over popular of VISA applicants to under-staffs ratio, but yet, majority of VISA applicants are not following the appointment booking procedure in the right ways. If you want to raise a ticket , do so with your ; (1). MRV payment evidence .(2) Date-signed Form -I20. (3). SEVIS fee payment receipt.

i have received an activation email since first week of september, how they did tell me that when their process is over i’d get an email and that was since 18th/26th of september but nothing yet

@oyotunjiusa kindly help, i paid my mrv fee before the portal was updated but i wasn’t able to schedule an appointment, since sept 7th i’ve not been able to fill anything or schedule an appointment, i’ve called and they said it’s a technical problem and they’ve not finished their migration process. on my dashboard it just shows me a pending appointment request and when i click on it i blank white screen.

what do you advise i do now? and how long does migrating data take? they also told me not to make new payments and i should give them time

Hey 🤠

1. It is only recommended officially to fill your main VISA Application (DS-160) before proceeding with the scheduling of your appointment, because you will need to input your DS-160 confirmation number in the process.
Although, you can use ongoing (the ds-160 that you saved uncompleted) DS-160 confirmation number to finish the task of scheduling an appointment, and go back to the DS-160 later.

2. Clear your browser history, restart your phone or computer and log back to AVITS.
Your user account will display the calendar with available appointments (dates) , or the Interview Waiver ( IW ) confirmation. Just click on the " Pending Appointment Request on your dashboard in order to continue.

i don’t have any ds 160 un completed, because i hadn’t started filling any ds 160 before now, i just tried what you said about clearing browser history but it’s still showing the same things , it’s not moved on. any advice now?

@oyotunjiusa please i need advice on this portal, i paid the mrv fee before the new update and first week in september i got an activation link to log into my account, i logged in but i have not been able to do anything on there as it’s been showing pending appointment request on my dashboard, however i haven’t filled or submitted my ds160, so do you think the problem could be from the fact that i don’t have any ds 160 filled / submitted yet?

Good day everyone.

I applied for an F1 visa and paid visa fee before august 16,2024. Gt Bank was still being used as at that time. So I went on with my appointment process and was in pre approval stage. However, the pre approval link was sent to my mail weeks after the website has been changed (sept 2) and so when I wanted to enter the payment mode I used, there was no GTB on the new website. It has been changed to first bank. I was informed by my agent that another mail will be sent to me as regards that but I haven’t received any mail. Does it take this long? Or is there something else I can do? Please, I really need your advice. I have deferred once so now my admission is for January, 2025. So I have just now till December to get an appointment. Awaiting your reply plssss. Thank you

abuja, but i have not been able to fill anything, schedule an appointment and pick a location , but before the new update i filled my ds-160 and i put abuja but on the portal i’ve not been able to do anything

This is an update in case of anyone facing similar issue. Mine reflected this morning and it's now in the pre-approval stage. It took them over two weeks to process.
Things I did which I don't know if helped was creating a ticket with my complain and attaching my payment receipt and also sending them an email with my complaints and receipts.

how long did it take for them to respond to your ticket?, what’s their email address?? my account has been showing pending appointment request since first week of september and i don’t know what to do..
