Politics › Re: Naira Could’ve Hit ₦17,000/$, Fuel ₦4,000/Litre Without Tinubu’s Reforms - Okupe by bdon123(m): 3:25pm On Nov 26, 2024 |
obasanjonews: Doyin Okupe credits President Tinubu's reforms for averting economic disaster, suggesting the naira could have plunged to ₦17,000/dollar and fuel prices soared to ₦4,000/litre without his intervention.
Doyin Okupe, the former spokesperson for the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential campaign, stated that without President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's reforms, the naira would have reached N17,000 per dollar in foreign exchange and fuel prices would be N4,000 per litre.
In a recent interview with Arise Television, Okupe, the former spokesperson for ex-presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo, revealed this information.
This development occurs as Nigerians are purchasing petrol at prices ranging from N1,060 to N1,115 per liter nationwide. This is a significant increase compared to the average price of N254.06 in May last year prior to the removal of fuel subsidies.
Additionally, the country's foreign exchange rate increased to N1675.62 per dollar on Monday, November 25, 2024, up from N463 on June 13, 2023.
The depreciation of the Naira and increases in fuel prices have intensified economic hardship for Nigerians, with headline inflation rising to 33.88 percent and food inflation reaching 39.16 percent in October 2024.
In response to the development, Okupe emphasized that without the reforms, Nigerians would be experiencing an even more dire economic situation.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu has introduced significant reforms aimed at transforming the country's circumstances from those of the past 8 to 10 years.
"I heard people complaining that the dollar is at N1,700; however, it could have been much worse—imagine if it had reached N17,000. Similarly, although fuel costs are now N1,000 per litre, they might have escalated to between N3,000 and N4,000 without these reforms," he remarked. Welldone okupe...protect ur pocket |

Biodun556: Davido has properties in banana Island, he recently bought another one in Eko Atlantic.
His dad invested 2 Billion dollars in Nigeria power sector, his dad friend dangote invested 20 billion dollars in Nigeria oil sector this people left US including davido himself as nobody but on getting to Nigeria, they become billionaires. So how is Nigeria a war zone as davido painted? How would his father realize profit from his 2 billion dollars invested when his son is scaring away those that will use the electricity and pay?
People don't know the difference between a country and a personality. You paint Nigeria black because you have problems with Tinubu. If Adeleke, his uncle becomes president tomorrow would he have said that. Despite increased in state FAAC allocation, Osun State has not committed to payment of 70,000 naira minimum wage.
Or is Davido scared because his uncle's second term is under threat? Oga shut up.... Nigeria is a shit hole |

The same guy lied about Dangote refinery till the refinery started, then he deflected to start helping Dangote fight FG.
He defamed a man, threatened him to sue, thinking the man wouldn't sue just like every other person he had been defaming, the man sued and suddenly he couldn't go to defend himself. Thank God the case wasn't in Nigeria, so he couldn't lie that he was being hunted that is why he couldn't come.

mrvitalis: I tell people Nigerians are generally OK with how the country is... Never mercy for anyone of them... If you have the opportunity Milk them dry
What do you think would happen if Tinubu attempt to legalize gay marriage - exactly my point protest he would be forced to change it right... So why don't we have same reaction when he implements bad policy?
There Is a loud minorities of fairly educated and exposed Nigerians online that want things to change because they have seen better and want better... They are not more that 5% of Nigerians... The rest of the population are actually ok, they complain because those minorities who they respect and get help from complain too
To the average Nigerian politics is like a sports like football fanship, they are happy when the party they support wins.... Nigerians have not been able to relate voting people and their economic day to day realities ..
Majority believes when its your time you would blow or when God remember you you would blow... Useless mindset
I have given up on Nigeria completely.. I won't ever vote again no matter who contest.... I totally agree wit u.I hav noticed it even on nairaland. If people who are obviously educated n enlightened make d kinda comments i see on nairaland abt national issues....it means most of us as Nigerians are not interested on meaningful developments,we only interested in someone frm our tribe being in power n nothing more.nairaland is a representation of d streets. If someone who can read n write tinks n reasons this way then u know even d next generation will not escape this shithole we hav found ourself . |
