True! Am still at a loss as to how they thought that expedition to Lagos, would have given them an edge in the war. The Biafran soldiers would have been wiped out in a matter of hours, once they landed in Lagos! How much ammunition did Banjo have in his kitty en route Lagos, anyway? Did they think the federal forces would have keep quiet in shock, on sighting the Biafran soldiers in their territory?

Ojukwu just wanted to use them as cannon fodder to buy more time for himself in the South-East. That's all!



Your post make sense, die! Even their entry into the old Midwest region was also flawed. The Biafran troops entered Benin and declared the place a "Republic," claiming they had come to liberate the inhabitants. Who told them the people of the old Midwest were in bondage? And this was after Ojukwu had agreed with Ejoor, that 'the Midwest would remain neutral, o!!'

Next, the soldiers went on a looting spree and committed different atrocities against the local populace, which led to those ones fighting back using underground methods. There were reports of Biafran soldiers killing unarmed non-Igbo civilians in Abudu, and other parts of the region. Eventually, the federal forces arrived and put paid to the whole thing. Sadly, the Asaba massacre occurred.

Some folks say, if Biafrans had not occupied the old Midwest, the federal forces would not have entered that region to dislodge them, and the massacre may never have taken place. May God continue to grant the departed souls, eternal rest.

Lagos would actually have gone down,if not for the betray of ifejuana,Alale,Agbam,and the humble victor banjo. The Biafran forces has already captured,Abuchi,igueben,Benin,as stronghold,advancing down ore,now if you don’t understand your history.
The federal army,was actually made of more middle belt infantry men,with the north and east holding on to high ranked position. Especially the east,who where the best experienced then. The yorubas actually had little to no army power. At ore,prior to that point in time,the northern shoulder had already been sent north,and western shoulders in the north down south.
It’s in every humans nature to gamble,and everyone has a choice banjo,ifejuana made theirs out of their gamble,return back to Enugu,kill Ojukwu,declare a cease fire,and win the respect of the head of state and your own people,who chastise you(banjo). He’ll be made governor of the west,ifejuana to the east,of which they’ll run a coup ousting Gowon to make Awolowo the prime minster. Unluckily the American attaché to Nigeria who was at Umuahia got a transcript of banjo conversation with Awolowo via the British high commission. Banjo withdrew his troops back down to Enugu without firing one shot in the Midwest,not one. Those men where not saving no millions of people,it was all personal interest and vandettas. And posterity did judge them,even the great Awolowo said it in his bio,that he regretted never seceding the mid west.
Most of you look at the war and think it’s ojukwu’s war no it’s wasnt,it’s a people’s war,the Biafran knew their fate was sealed,but would take no more of the redundant stsytem that doesn’t work. So instead of you to insult,rather salute a man who fought for not just the biafrans but for Africa,cause it died in Biafra.

I read through many comments on here,I’d say I’m ashamed and discouraged at the lots of you all.
Firstly I saw one comment on the proposals from aburi convention of 67,which the writer falsely lied,about. First after the immigration of Biafran a from the north down south,Ojukwu asked for salaries to be paid to those refugees who have filled up the south. What did the perm sec,of the federation do?? If you know your history you’d know prior to all this,Gowon was just a puppet. The perm sec was the one in control and being from the middle belt,it was a power struggle between the north and the middle belt,of which the middle belt had more infantry men at the army than all other tribes.
Secondly they never needed 4 high ranked officers to form the supreme military council,the only reason they needed four high ranked officer was for Gowon to be able to declare a state of emergency,in the south. blockading the south,get your facts right.
Thirdly,after the the Kano riot of 53,a council was formed by Aguiyi-Ironsi,to probe the agitators of the said massacre,what did Gowon do?? In his word why keep a council open when the representative can’t sit.
Now on the issue of Ojukwu being a coward,this that,he’s the only Nigerian hero,born of thus motherland whom we can call a man. Your Awolowo betrayed his west,your sarduana enslaved you. Get it right,he was a man born of wealth,schooling in the uk,he was driving a rolls Royce’s,while your so called heroes are stealing public funds to achieve such feat,Ojukwu didn’t need no government money,as a young graduate he has always shied from his fathers name,making his own man.
Ojukwu wasn’t the one who called for the emancipation of Biafran,no it’s not left for one man,the Biafran did,the farmers,teachers,kingmakers,tomatoes seller did,that Biafran where every man air his or her mind. This same man you called a coward,did what the brits couldn’t. Brought different ethnic groups under one name,and it worked. This man commandeer a war,the federal army in it nights said would take 3days to quell. A selfless man,who fought for the woes of his people,not for his own gains. If he had fought for his interest,do you think he won’t hold a major office in Nigeria till date?? Would he lose all his fathers property in Lagos and so on?? That a man of the people a selfless man.
That same man you called a coward,told Awolowo as soon as he secedes Biafra Awolowo should do same for the Midwest. What did the great Awolowo do?? He was awarded minister of finance with the belief after war Gowon would hand over power,now tell me who the coward would be.
Now pertaining the war,yes the federal troops had more fire powers,had a total of 85000 infantry men,but lacked engineer,lacked good doctors,artillary men,whom mostly are Biafran who had either been killed or in the Biafran camp. A small tiny republic with just one B-29 fighter jet could hold a federal power as big as the Nigerian,British,and Russian government at bay. To you,you feel Biafra never successful seceded because of the federal army? You lie. It’s cause the west feared such a small colony,developing at a rate it did,we built bombs,built armored cars,rocket,refined our crude. What do you think would happen given this colony the opportunity to emancipate Ask yourself.
