Anambra state- “Football Made in Anambra”, 50,000-family football fiesta, launches “1 family-1 footballer”

Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has unveiled a fast-tracking transformation of the game in the state. The programme taking place in Anambra state is the highly anticipated “Football Made in Anambra” with the aim of fostering football at the grassroot.

This competition, which will involve participants from over 50,000 families in Anambra state and in Diaspora, will set out to discover young and budding talents whose talents will be harnessed by the best hands in the country in an academy to be set up by the association. “1 family-1 footballer” which is the theme of the programme aims to identify and develop one footballer from every family in a fiesta that will be hosted in every community for a period of two weeks with lots of giveaway prizes including over 50,000 branded footballs and jerseys for participants and their families. The programme is billed to attract legends from within and outside the shores of Nigeria as the association looks to completely change the face of football in Anambra state.

According to a communiqué released after the inaugural meeting of the Executive Committee on May 14; as part of its efforts to set the pace and ensure speedy growth of grassroots football in the state, the committee resolved to introduce series of programmes which includes ‘Football Made in Anambra’, ‘Anambra State Unity Cup’ as well as focus on the training and retraining of state football coaches, referees and administrators by renowned instructors from across the country.
The committee also agreed that in its bid to enhance administration as well as the credibility of the State FA, its secretariat has to be relocated to a more befitting edifice.
Chairman of the association, Dr. Ubah while addressing pressmen pointed out that the massive Games village coming up in Nnewi with over six football pitches will be a turning point towards attaining the glory that Anambra lost over the years. He further explained that the use of the pitches will be split into three categories, two pitches for children between the ages of 6 and 12, two other pitches for children/youths between the ages of 13 and 20 and the last two pitches will be used to harness amateur footballers. According to Dr. Ubah, all these programmes will be complemented by a Football Academy and School which would kick off soonest. On a lighter note, Dr. Ubah said that under his watch, Anambra state stands a great chance of producing atleast 5 Messis and 5 Ronaldos within the next five years. He further declared that his target is to ensure that football tourism grows to be the biggest contributor to Anambra State’s Internally Generated Revenue. In a show of appreciation, Dr. Ubah thanked the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano for his promise and determination to support the association and its programmes aimed at revolutionising football in the state. “A journey of a million miles starts with one step and that visionary step we have taken”, Dr. Ubah said.
According to the document, various committees will be constituted for the smooth running of the FA to ensure the realization of an all-inclusive administration and vision of the Dr. Ubah-led administration. The committees which will be headed by members of the executive committee include Technical, Media and Publicity, Match Appointment, Organising, Disciplinary, Security, Finance and Restructuring committees. Members of these committees will be announced at the joint meeting of the State Executive Committee and the local football councils on Sunday, May 22 in Awka. The association also decided that in line with its efforts and good intents, a Reconciliation Committee comprising of Rev’d Father Obinna Dike (Chairman), Chief Charles Onyeka (Vice Chairman), Rev’d Father Azudiugwu (Secretary), Chief Martin Nwosisi and Mrs Nkiru Igwenagu will be reconstituted, to unite the state’s football family, with specific mandate to reach out to all aggrieved members of the family in the state.
The communiqué also revealed that there would be a World Press Conference and Facility Tour of the Games Village in the next couple of weeks which would be used to unveil the detailed blueprint of the association. It also noted that the modalities for its flagship programme ‘Football Made in Anambra’ would also be unveiled during this press conference.
The executive committee also thanked the State Government and the entire football stakeholders for the confidence reposed on it to champion the course of repositioning football in the state.

The Governor who was once a labour chairman Stated that his striking workers in the state civil service are seriously risking losing their salaries if they continue with the strike. It is contained in a statement by the Head of Service, Gladys Idahor. See part of the statement below:

“All workers are expected to be at their duty posts. Any worker who stays away from work will forfeit his or her pay as the ‘no-work-no-pay’ rule will be strictly enforced. All public schools and institutions are expected to remain open as school is in session. Heads of departments and parastatals are directed to keep records of workers’ attendance for further action”.

Governor Oshiomhole please, try to remember your days of humble beginning and remember when you were like these workers. Nothing lasts, its all vanity. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

The 156 years old Riemann Hypothesis, the most important problem in Mathematics has been successfully and, if you like, accurately solved by a respected Nigeria Scholar, Dr Opeyemi Enoch.

With this breakthrough, Dr Enoch, who teaches at the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), has become the fourth egghead to resolve one of the seven Millennium Problems in Mathematics.

The mathematician had, before now, worked on mathematical models and structures for generating electricity from sound, thunder and Oceanic bodies.


An officially statement in Ado Ekiti said Dr Enoch presentation of the Proof on November 11, 2015 during the International Conference on Mathematics and Computer Science in Vienna, Austria becomes more symbolic coming on the exact day and month 156 years after the problem was delivered by a German Mathematician in 1859.

The Riemann Zeta Hypothesis is one of the seven Millennium problems set forth by the Clay Mathematics Institute with a million Dollar reward for each solved problem for the past 16 years.

According to the statement, “Dr Enoch first investigated and then established the claims of Riemann. He went on to Consider and to correct the misconceptions that were communicated by Mathematicians in the past generations, thus paving way for his solutions and proofs to be established.

“He also showed how other problems of this kind can be formulated and obtained the matrix that Hilbert and Poly predicted will give these undiscovered solutions. He revealed how these solutions are applicable in cryptography, quantum information science and in quantum computers,” it stated.

Three of the problems had been solved and the prizes given to the winners. This makes it the fourth to be solved of all the seven problems.

Dr. Enoch, from Kogi State, had previously designed a Prototype of a silo for peasant farmers and also discovered a scientific technique for detecting and tracking someone on an evil mission.

Enoch has succeeded in inventing methods by which oil pipelines can be protected from vandalism and he is currently working on Mathematical approaches to Climate Change. Kudos!

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has reacted to the statement by Enugu-based fire-brand catholic priest, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka, where he called on the pro-Biafran youths protesting and causing discomfort to innocent Nigerians, to go back to their businesses as the protests could lead to their death.

During a sermon at his weekly Adoration Ministry, Mbaka criticised Biafra supporters who embarked on the protests across South-East and some South-South states, to demand Nnamdi Kanu’s release.

Mbaka had said: "Locking up your shops and disrupting economic activities will not add any naira to your pocket, whatever grievance you have could be resolved through dialogue."

But in a reaction to Father Mbaka statement, the Biafra group said
the popular pastor is a compromised priest speaking from both sides of his mouth. Deputy Leader of IPOB, Uche Mefor, who fired back at him, stressed that “Biafra is more than money!”
Uche Mefor noted that the youths are protesting against injustice, oppression and subjugation, which is the motivating factor leading them to seek their freedom.

The Radio Biafra deputy leader wondered why Mbaka who is a pastor could not condemn the government’s who he accused of extrajudicial detention of Kanu. He also advised him to refute his statement.

According to Uche Mefor, Biafran youths have seen the truth having been enlightened by Radio Biafra.

MANAGING Director of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Chief William Makinde, fingered for purportedly frittering away N650 million, has punctured the claim.

He also denied social and print media reports that he awarded contract to Hon Erhitake Ibori, a member of the state House of Assembly and daughter of the former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori, to supply vehicles to the commission.

In a statement, Sunday, by his Special Assistant on Media, Dr. Prince Orhomonokpaye, he said, “I have read through the report and I am surprised that the media could write such frivolous report that is unfounded.”

“The issue sited in the report that DESOPADEC MD paid Daily Independent Newspapers the sum of N350 million as debt from advert publications, squandered N270 million and withdrew N1.5 billion DESOPADEC fund from Sterling Bank are baseless and has no iota of truth.

“No contract was awarded to the daughter of former Governor of Delta state, Chief James Ibori to purchase vehicles for the commission as reported in the print and social media,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner representing Okpe, Ethiope West and Sapele on the board DESOPADEC, Hon. Jonathan Amitaye, has donated cash and various items, including bags of rice, garri, beans, groundnut oil, palm oil and toiletries to an Orphanage Home, Sapele.

Owner of the home, Madam Monica Buwa, commended him for the donation and urged other well-meaning Deltans to come to the aid of the orphans

President Muhammadu Buhari is proposing a budget of about N8 trillion for 2016.

This is according to a document from office of the Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo seen by Reuters on Friday.

The budget is twice last year’s, which was N4.4 trillion
It is unknown how the federal government plans to fund the budget in an economy going downward due to the sharp fall in crude prices, as oil exports account for 70 percent of government revenue.

The document, used as the basis for a presentation by Osinbajo to the cabinet during a two-day retreat, proposed capital expenditure of N2trillion next year, up from N1.3trillion in 2015.

The document presented to them, bearing the title “The Economy – Where We Are Today”, laid out the extent to which the country has been hit by plunging oil prices, stating that in May foreign reserves hit a 10-year low of $29.6billion.

A page headed “How can we get out of a possible recession?” outlined the need for a “massive infrastructure building” programme for roads, rail and power, along with “expansionist” fiscal and monetary policies.

The presentation by Osinbajo, who heads the National Economic Council (NEC), stated that this would be paid for by a N25billion infrastructure fund and a N2.5trillion “special intervention fund”.

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, early on Friday morning, sacked his embattled Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Opunabo Inko-Tariah.

Inko-Tariah, who is also the Publisher of Port Harcourt-based Hard Truth newspaper, on a local radio at 10 a.m., claimed that he resigned, alleging that Wike starved his office of funds and refused to take his advice.

MTN & Airtel lines of Inko-Tariah were switched off.

A suspected kidnapper who abducted a little boy in Imo state has met his Waterloo after going to the bank to cash in on the ransom money.. Read the full gist of what went down below;

Nicholas Nwabueze, 22, is a customer of Ifeoma Olewu, the mother of Somtochukwu, 2. On the 27th of October, 2015, went to her shop, Zone 4, World Bank Area, New Owerri, Imo State to buy something. But he saw Chukwu coming out of their compound all alone while Ifeoma was inside the shop.

He quickly abducted him and demanded a ransom of N500,000 which was paid the next day. He however kept the boy in his custody, hoping to release him immediately after cashing the money. He only succeeded in withdrawing N120,000 through the ATM machine.

After that, the machine stopped dispensing and he was forced to go inside the bank to ask why. It was in that process that he was arrested. He later confessed that he wanted to obtain money from the parents since the boy’s father resides in China
