It was a cool Monday morning,the sun had risen,birds were chirping, students were leaving for school and workers had also started their exodus to their respective place of work. Not that I was sleeping but I just didn't want to get up from my bed,I was thinking about what had happened yesterday,how I broke up with Ella,I smiled sheepishly.
"Benjamin get up joor,you no won go school? Which kind pikin you be self? See all ya mates don ready for school and you dey here dey sleep.....Yea,you guessed right, that was my mum and she has started her nagging again not that I wasn't used to it(in fact that is what growing up as the only male in an African home is all about) but what beats me is how she manages to do it with every chance she gets........ " You still lie down?" she thundered, "Oh God,we no dey do anything for school na" I riposted, "then no be for my house you go for sleep while your mates dey school". At that,I got up rather sluggishly and headed for the bathroom muttering inaudible words to myself. 'I'm 17 and in S.S 3 and mummy still dey treat like say abi small pikin',I thought as I poured the cold water on my body,the water seemed unusually cold that day but wetin man go do? I was outside already,looking for keke to take me to school,there was always something about Mondays that made kekes hard to find. Just then I started thinking about why I didn't like relationships and how I had broken up with Ella the night before. " was it cos I was always surrounded by girls?" I thought aloud n shrugged(As a rather handsome,soft spoken and we'll built 17 year old,I had no problem getting the girls,I even got the ones who were older,the problem was keeping a healthy relationship) who needs girls anyway.
