1.Naka (Japanese name) Odinaka (Igbo name)

2.Owari (Japanese town)
Owerri (Igbo town)

3. Chikamatsu (Japanese name)Chikadibia (Igbo name)

4. Obuchi (Japanese name)Onyebuchi (Igbo name)

5. Ikeda (Japanese name)Ikedia (Igbo name)

6. Be (ancient Japanese word for community)
Be (Igbo word for house)

7. Abukuma (Japanese town)Akuma (Igbo town)

8. Obama (Japanese town)

Igbo human rights lawyer, Olisah Agbakoba has been chosen as the Igbodefender.com Person of the Year for the year 2011.

He has been chosen for using his legal skills to fight for the cause of the Igbos, which being an altruistic move can be termed as Generous Equianoism.

His attitude is the kind that Igbodefender.com wishes to promote in the Igbos: the attitude that one doesn’t need to be in politics before he begins to help the Igbo people.

We congratulate Mr. Olisah Agbakoba SAN on this recognition, and ask him to keep inspiring Igbos with his philantropic attitude.

PoliticsIgbodefender.com's editorial on the exclusion of Alaigbo in new refineries by belltwelve(op): 12:02pm On Dec 23, 2011
Igbodefender.com's Comment
"We are disturbed by the glaring ommission of any Igbo territory, South East or South West in this arrangement. It is another sign of Anti-Equianoism, and should be corrected forthwith. We feel that the Honorable Minister of Petroleum, who is Igbo by marriage should have resigned in protest over the issue.

Also, this a challenge to our enterpreneurs to provide Alaigbo which its own independent refineries. We look forward to the completion of Orient Refineries in Anambra. We ask Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State to take up the challenge. Ifeanyi Uba of Capital Oil should come into the picture, as he is a very resourceful oil entrepreneur."

When will all this marginalization of Ndigbo stop? angry

He knew his time had come. That is why he made his "last wish" to his people of Anambra State, asking them to vote Peter Obi again, and his people obeyed. He didnt even need to share Ghana must go bags. His people beleived in him. It is up to Peter Obi not to disapoint the man or his people, in his remaining time in office. Good bye Old Soldier. Old Soldier never dies! cry Your life was a struggle.

Ojukwu was a man who didnt need anybody's approval to beleive in himself. Only one man stood against the powers and made the cry of his people heard allover. Adieu Ojukwu, the Ikemba of Nnewi.

I just read the following article on Igbodefender.com, and I agree with it. It is an analysis of Uwazurike's interview with Vanguard. How many sons of the super-rich would sacrifice a life of sports cars and beutiful gals to suffer in the jungle for their people. People like Ojukwu come once in a generation. Lets write 2 sentence eulogies for the great man. Please no derailing of this thread.[/b]

Ojukwu was the unelected leader of the Igbos- Uwazurike

In a recent interview with The Vanguard, MASSOB leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike described the late Biafran leader Odumegwu Ojukwu as the unelected leader of the Igbo people. He ascribed Ojukwu’s authority among the Igbos not to election, but rather to selfless service to the Igbo. He also opinned on how he thought the next Igbo ‘leader’ would emerge. Excerpts of his statements are below.

“Ojukwu was a fearless person.

We are talking about leaders that can sacrifice their lives.

Those that can stand up for their people and say, ‘Okay, let me die’. We are not talking about people who are looking for contracts or looking for positions.

We are talking about people whose concerns are about the well-being of the masses.

Ojukwu used the resources of his father to execute a project for the welfare of his people. Because of his people, he went on exile and stayed for more than ten years. Because of his people, he encountered suffering, humiliation and insults. These are the people that we are talking about.”

“So, the first thing that we can do now is to give him a befitting burial. The best in Africa and everybody will see it. We have to do it. After that, we will have a meeting of Igbo leaders to sit down and chart a way forward for Ndigbo. God must surely throw up somebody.

Leadership is not a game of contest. In Igbo land, ana asi na anaghi echi eze eze , ana amu eze amu( the king is not crowned but given at birth ). That person who does what his people love is their leader already. And so it was with Ojukwu. He worked himself into the heart of his people. Even when he was coronated, Eze Igbo, some of his opponents challenged the title, but, because of his acceptance by his people, it didn’t take long before everybody began to hail him as Eze Igbo Gburugburu.

So, leadership is not about going to sit in Abuja or by election.

Nobody as a matter of fact elected Ojukwu to be his or their leader. But through his actions and activities, he was adopted by his people as their leader.”

Folks, you heared it: to become an Igbo leader, the basic thing you need to have is not money, but selfless commitment.
