I would sincerely appreciate some assistance with my inquiry. I’ve been following this thread since last night but still haven’t found clarity on the next steps to take. Here’s my situation:

My wife is five months pregnant, and we’ve been planning for her to give birth in Brazil. However, we’ve encountered challenges with agents attempting to overcharge us, so someone told me to come seek guidance here.

Initially, I wanted to understand the step-by-step process, from applying for the right visa to obtaining residency. But after reading on here about the high denial rates for tourist visas (especially since neither of us has prior travel history, despite having sufficient proof of funds), I’m feeling quite confused.

Now, I’m considering a student visa as an alternative, but I’m unsure if this is the best option given my wife’s pregnancy. At this point, I’d really appreciate any advice on the most viable path forward and the specific steps we should take.

As for getting the visa and all that, it's safe to say that it may be late...she's over five months and doesn't have a visa yet. You also know that airlines have protocol to flying pregnant women - there's that to consider as well. You could still go ahead and use the study route; you could change plans a bit and wifey can have another baby while you're there...both babies will still get citizenship. Weigh alllllll your options sir, before going forward.
There are a few people you could reach out to, that do birth tourism to Brazil specifically; some are here on Nairaland as well (check ktoptnt on Nairaland, Oreoluwa, Manuel Festus on YouTube). You can speak with them to know if there's still a chance or if any other options are available.

please guys i just remembered something

the first i was asked to send my documents to embassy via courier i made mistake i sent it with out my appointment receipt then the next day when i remembered i sent the appointment receipt separately to the embassy by DHL too and told them to let the embassy know it belongs to one person and i did not add return label to that one

But when my other documents were returned due to lack of appointment receipt, they did not return the appointment receipt I sent oo
and I still sent other documents with the appointment receipt, which was delivered on the 12th of feb

I just saw somewhere that a visa can be refused if you don't submit the complete original documents, even after submitting everything online

What if my application was processed with the document I sent that has only my appointment receipt, not with the last document I sent please

Is that possible, though I have sent the embassy an email and I tried calling, but as usual they don't pick

Introduction letter Flight booking, hotel reservation, or invitation letter

note i already uploaded my hotel reservation before, but what I don't get now is

the introduction letter is it a self-introduction letter or a company introduction letter(note: I am sponsoring myself)
and for the flight reservation, do you have any idea of the website I can use to reserve the flight

2. Are you employed or work for yourself?
3. What's your purpose of visit, were you invited?

If you didn't include a cover letter, please send one now
If you're employed, your employer should also write a letter confirming your employment status and anything else that assures your return (like how you're a high value employee and no one can do your job, things like that)
If you weren't invited, your hotel reservation is okay.
For flight reservation, someone earlier mentioned that most sites now ask that you make the full payment for reservation. You can get in touch with trusted travel agents for this, you can also just check some sites on your own (Skyscanner, trip it, kiwi, hopper, etc)

Since you've had the baby already, I would suggest you retrieve your passport and apply for other visas (if you have a UK or Schenghen, you can use this to Mexico) that don't take as long a waiting time.
But if you've made up your mind on Brazil (like me🙈), retrieve and get a new one, then apply again so there's no issue of validity of passport or visa. All the best!

I am interested in this because am also currently pregnant, 3 months gone, dont know if i should try the tourism or medical visa, as for the school... I think their resumption is middle of the year and my EDD is july.

The person with the visa will go first and apply for dependents to come join him/her. Obviously, the person will have to prove he/she can support them financially and otherwise.

It's great news you'd like to give yourself and your family this wonderful gift! Please, don't hesitate to start your application NOW as a lot of people complain about the long wait time.

As someone earlier suggested, you can consider Mexico as an option...when your baby is born on Mexican soil, he/she is given birthright citizenship and you are immediately eligible for PR (meaning, you can apply as soon as you get that birth certificate, which is almost immediately) - this applies to grandparents too.
As it is in Brazil as well, to be eligible for citizenship, some other criteria have to be met (like, duration of stay, learning language and history and all that) but you the parents (and grandparents, if they wish) can be eligible in as short as two years.

I think the main difference between birthing in Brazil and/or Mexico is the cost. As you should know, Brazilian public healthcare is free but Mexican isn't.

If this is something you're really set on, I suggest you go all through this thread, and make some research online to get better informed before you make a choice. I wish you and your family the absolute best!

Yes, it can happen that way but I always prefer attaching mine as well (reasonable POF pls). Imo, it gives me a better chance.

Your application for tourist visa should carry 5-10 days; if longer, you should be able to imply that your business (or work) can run smoothly without you, for that period of time. This is just a helpful tip.

I'll suggest you apply again (depends on the purpose though).
Please ensure to attach sufficient documents, also a cover letter (very important). Make sure everything you submit online, you also submit hard copies...I mean every single thing.
Everything you mention in the cover letter should have evidence attached (and uploaded, of course).

The steps to apply for another Schengen visa? Because you can travel to both countries with the one you have, since it's not expired yet (although you have to land in the country you applied to first)

Hello, it's usually at the end of the application.
If you're just applying now, it's assumed your travel date is later than November 1st 2024, so you're okay as is. The email only applies to those who have already submitted, awaiting decision and travel date is before November 1.

Yes, they're all qualified, but have to be in the country to apply for it. They don't have to stay till it's ready (you can collect by proxy) but of course, it's always better they collect in person as well.

Yes, that's what you'll have to do if your travel date is before November 1st (except for events that cannot be postponed/shifted).
New itinerary, new travel date with bookings, new accomodations bookings, also don't forget to check duration of your travel insurance. Re-upload and get new protocol page then do the needful.

Giving birth in Chile only covers the child provided the parents have residency. Even having a Chilean child or spouse doesn't guarantee permanent residency. That economic stability is the most important key in getting permanent residency. A high paying job or a highly profitable business in Chile. The government doesn't care but that's it. There are people with Chilean wives or husbands who can't get permanent residency because they don't have a good job so they need to renew their residency every 2 years. Once you can acquire permanent residency, citizenship is straightforward

It's an open space, so can't say too much...but I was hoping for the Chilean passport for my child, that's my main concern. If there's enough time for me to get one as well, still good. But I won't be actively working towards that anymore, for myself.

I don't know about processing time, but there's an embassy at Asokoro (Abuja) that offers their consular services: http://enige.cancilleria.gov.ar that's their website.

This is so detailed and apt, well done. I want to point out that in reality, Chilean citizenship/Passport procedure is very difficult and takes a very long time for the parents due to bureaucracy. It seems deliberate since their passport is very strong and I guess they don't want everyone to have easy access to it.

I also did a little comparison between São Paulo and Santiago earlier this year, cost of living and accommodation is higher in Santiago, and integration is much more difficult over there especially if you're a person of color.

I visited Chile for a few days, it's a very beautiful country and the people are nice but not as much as Brazilians.

Men honestly you really have to admire chilean men. They joke and they play so much but these people have really built a prosperous country for themselves. Sometimes I wonder if its because of the predominant European DNA that chileans have. Chileans, Argentines, The south of Brazil and Uruguay had a lot of european migration and these places are the most developed in south america. Chileans look very european like and can be easily distinguished from other latinos like peruvians, colombians and venezuelans.

Honestly, I am so lucky to have come to this country. Thank God I boned everybody that discouraged me from coming. This country is helping me achieve all my dreams both the positive dreams and the negative ones
