US President Donald Trump has announced what he described as a major new agreement involving the United States, Denmark and Greenland, claiming that Washington will have permanent control over security and other strategic needs in Greenland.

In a post on X, Trump said the agreement would give the United States the ability to take whatever measures it considers necessary to protect Greenland and American security.

He also claimed that, under the agreement, no U.S. adversary would be allowed to establish a military base, maintain a military presence or make certain sensitive investments in Greenland without Washington's express written approval.

Trump further announced that the United States would immediately begin developing a large military presence in appropriate parts of Greenland, working with the people of Greenland on development and construction.

The US president described the arrangement as an “Infinite Life” Agreement, saying it has no end date. He presented the deal as a historic solution to America's long-standing strategic concerns over Greenland.

The announcement is particularly significant because Greenland is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark and occupies a highly strategic position in the Arctic.

Reports indicate that Danish and Greenlandic representatives have been involved in negotiations with the United States over security, investment and Greenland's strategic future. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has reportedly said an agreement is expected to be signed, while emphasizing Denmark's territorial integrity and Greenlanders' right to self-determination.

Trump's announcement is already generating international attention because of the potential implications for US-Denmark relations, Greenland's autonomy, Arctic security and the growing strategic competition involving Russia and China.

What do you think about Trump's Greenland deal?

Does this represent a major shift in Arctic security, or could it create new tensions between the United States, Denmark and Greenland?

A petrol tanker driver in Osun State has been hailed as a hero after he risked his life on Thursday, 17th September 2026, to prevent what could have been a major disaster.
The incident happened opposite Lado Filling Station at Feesu Junction along the Iwo-Ibadan Expressway in the Iwo area of Osun State. The tanker had just finished unloading fuel at the station and was about to leave when it suddenly caught fire.
Instead of abandoning the vehicle, the driver quickly drove the burning tanker a short distance away to a riverside. He then managed to detach the truck’s front section (the traction head/cab) from the flaming trailer before the fire could completely destroy everything or spread further.
Witnesses say his quick action stopped the fire from spreading to nearby shops, houses, and other properties. Thick black smoke filled the area and people could see it from as far as Odo-Ori Market.
Videos of the incident have gone viral, showing the tanker fully ablaze with people running and the driver still handling the situation under extreme danger.
One eyewitness, Usain Taoreed, said: “Our saving grace was the driver’s courageous effort at driving it to a safe distance and that prevented escalation to shops, houses and other properties around.”
This man deserves recognition. In a country where tanker accidents often claim many lives, his bravery saved the day.
