TrajansKong: My brother, nobody is making this up. Perception What is happening right now in the prisons of Marseille, London, Dubai, Vientiane, Caracas, Berlin, Ankara, Teheran, Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Rio de Janeiro, Johannesburg, New Dehli, Nairobi, Beijing and many, many more is not perception. Bros! No be only our people dey there. In fact I doubt if the population of Nigerian inmates is of any significance company to other nationalities. TrajansKong: Do you deny that we are disgracing our heritage and our future and that of the Black race? The actions of a few cannot and should not be used to label the whole. You know this! TrajansKong: I am genuinely fascinated to see how anyone could substantiate this your statement I quoted. We are perceived to be bad and it is that perception that must change. I cannot deny that we have nasty folks within our ranks (both home and abroad), but the true nature of things must be stated plainly. Not exaggerated reports of the criminality in foreign countries by Nigerian nationals |

Travel › Re: Nigerians In Marseille - Why Are We Like This?? by benjanjo1: 7:51pm On May 15, 2021 |
TrajansKong: Correct. The criminal activities of other nationalities do not involve standing in the road or on street corners in groups harassing women, fighting with police or otherwise constituting a very loud public nuisance. The search light finds us BECAUSE we are Black.
Nationalities with higher turnover/profile criminals are largely quiet and do not constantly need to draw attention to themselves.
Ultimately the life of everyone who looks remotely like us is under stress and suspicion because of what we do outside Nigeria. In this respect we are a problem to the fortunes of the Black world.
Instead of pointing the finger at others why don't you want to change the way we are Change the way we are?! Bros the only thing wrong with the way we are is perception. And perception is not reality. |
Travel › Re: Nigerians In Marseille - Why Are We Like This?? by benjanjo1: 6:57pm On May 15, 2021 |
TrajansKong: My countryman, we are not talking about one or two isolated examples. These are consistent patterns of behaviour we exhibit across the globe, Malaysia. Russia, Colombia, China, Vietnam, Italy, Turkey, Brazil, Philippines, UK, USA. Jails overseas are full to bursting with our criminal youth.
How is this situation not catastrophic for our families, students and business people who need to enter these countries? The average white person cannot distinguish between Edo/Igbo/Yoruba/ whatever talk less of between a Black French person and a Nigerian cultist.
This is bad for everybody. It must change. Bros! We are not the only criminals in these countries! There are others deadlier and more ruthless than Nigerians. You certainly cannot say every black criminal from Africa in an Asian or European country is a Nigerian. The report is exaggerated. They like to beam search light on us, they will not publicize or identify the criminal activities of other nationalities in their domains. But they love pointing fingers at Nigerians |
Travel › Re: Nigerians In Marseille - Why Are We Like This?? by benjanjo1: 5:06pm On May 15, 2021 |
TrajansKong: So it looks as if our recently arrived young people have started doing what they are best known for in Marseille.
If you understand French there is a twitter thread here https://twitter.com/search?q=Nigerians%20marseille&src=typeahead_click
Article in French here https://www.liberation.fr/france/2019/09/29/mafia-nigeriane-a-marseille-j-ai-tres-peur-car-je-sais-de-quoi-ils-sont-capables_1754355/
Long story short - our young men are taking over the drugs, prostitution and extortion rackets in the city through the use of very extreme and random violence. Nigerians are now feared across Marseille. Not only by the white French and the Arabs but also by our fellow Black Africans - the Guineans, Comorians, Maliens, Ivorians who have lived there peacefully for decades - and who now fear for their lives.
Why are we like this? How can we stop it? Because of us all Black people are now treated with suspicion. Our disgraceful behaviour stains the name and blights the experiences of every Black and African traveller regardless of the passport they hold.
Very shameful. Its not everything you blame on Nigerians... just because one or two of our folks engage in criminality does not mean we have taken over the criminal enterprises Marseille. |
Properties › Re: What Rising Insecurity,Material Prices Mean For Building Industry, Homeownership by benjanjo1: 3:50am On May 14, 2021 |
This is the time to invest in alternative building technology. Our reliance on cement for construction has proven to be unsustainable. There are other materials that can be used to erect durable and strong buildings. And I hear that some of these materials are even cheaper! I think those with the know how should begin to popularize the usage of such alternatives. |

Foodqueen: With the high rate of kidnapping and missing persons daily, is it safe to allow children to resume back to school tomorrow.
The country is collapsing. it is safe in the south of Nigeria. But as for the Northerners These folks are setting themselves backwards! creating an unfavourable environment for children to get an education is one of the worst things that can set a society on a downward spiral. The world is marching forward and Nigeria is being left behind.. |
Career › Re: Dilemma Of Reverting To My Correct Age(Advice needed) by benjanjo1: 9:35pm On May 01, 2021 |
nnapal: I have a big decision to make. l didn't finish secondary school in time. I was close to 21 years when I finished secondary school. When I was registering my waec, my elder brother asked me to reduce my age. I wasn't cool with that but my brother who had always found way to emotionally make me feel too old for my level insisted that I did it. He was telling me then that people my age were already in their penultimate year in university. He himself finished university early as he didn't have a pause in his schooling unlike me. I am intelligent and have been liked by my school teachers.
I asked my mother for advice, she was against it, but in the end I listened to my brother. He did court affidavit for me, and I had to visit national population commission for birth certificate. Since then I have been consistent in making my info bear this my reduced age.
No day has passed since after that changing I have not been haunted by it. I kept using this age, and the further I went the harder it was becoming for me to revert to my real age. I graduated 2019 and had finished youth service with the certificate bearing this false age. I'm 29 now, and 27 years with my reduced age. He wanted me to reduce to 5 years younger but I could only settle for 2 years less.
A strong craving to revert to the original age came back recently, I started making steps but was afraid it might hurt my chances. Not in terms of jobs, but being admitted for masters program abroad. I had taken some steps to going back to my real age but it has not been encouraging. My university register told me that I couldn't possibly pull that off, unless my waec and Jamb have that my real age and I could possibly prove it was a mistake. He told me I have to live with it. I wanted to do age correction in my NIN but I was told that I would pay #15k through remitta. I had already searched for the cost of correcting age in my waec but it's tedious and costly.
My monthly earning now is not up to 30k and I'm not even sure if I could get all the data to my correct age.
I'm contemplating whether to go through with this as that would make me so happy, or continue with this consistent false age(the same age with my immediate younger brother). My birth certificate now has that I was born in one eastern state, my state of origin; instead of Lagos. Deleting this part of my history worries me. Similarly, I want my 30th birthday to be special and for me to proudly announce that I reached 30 years. I need advice on this.
For my elder brother, he is a strong believer and much more mature now, he supports my effort to revert to my original age. Thanks. bros! continue the lie till the day you die! A couple of years back, I was in the same position that you were in. I had the same opportunity to permanently alter my age on all official documents. Guess what?! I turned the offer down! Sure, I looked like a fool at the time as my friend quickly altered her age without a second thought. The thing with integrity is that once you take a decision that will bring your integrity into question, you must not only be willing to follow it through till the very end, you must also be willing to maintain the appearance of innocence and impeccable character in the presence of scrutiny as long as you can. Please, perish the thought of reverting back to your real age. It will only cause more harm than good at this stage of your existence on earth. The funny thing about this is that the official documents that can be used for verification have the false age on it. Nobody will question the veracity of the information you present. Put it behind you! After all, age is just a number. PS: Your first school leaving certificate and the dates within which you attended nursery/primary school can be used to extrapolate your real age. You were smart to minus only two years off your age from the beginning. |
