Former Nigeria President, Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo said yesterday at a public presentation of a book written by Prof. Mark Nwagwu in Ibadan which had dignitaries in attendance that the earnings of the National Assembly members makes them "bunch of unarmed robbers". The book is titled, ' I am Kagara, I Weave the Sands of Sahara'.
He said, " Government allows itself to be stampeded into signing agreement particularly when one group or the other withdraws it services and goes on strike. After the agreement has been signed, without full consultation within government, implementation becomes an issue.
" But an agreement is an agreement whoever the agent is that signed that agreement on your behalf, you are bound by it. You may now have to renegotiate to have a new agreement but the agreement earlier signed remains an agreement.
" When the university teachers go on strike, there is an agreement, and when doctors go on strike, there will be a special agreement. And when the universities teachers see that the agreement reached with the doctors is different from theirs, they go on strike and this is bad for our economy.
" The way we are going about spending all our revenue to pay overheads, we will not develop. And we will have ourselves to blame. Ninety per cent of revenue is used to pay overheads, allowances, salaries and not much is left for capital development. In a situation like that, we have to rethink.
He added, " It is even worse for the National Assembly. They will abuse me again but I will never stop talking about them. They are a bunch of unarmed robbers.
" They are one of the highest paid in the world where we have 75 per cent of our people living in abject poverty. They will abuse me tomorrow and if they don’t, maybe they are sleeping. The behavior and character of the National Assembly should be condemned and roundly condemned."

The Ogun State Police Command of the Nigeria police Force arrested one 77 year old Samuel Babatunde (prophet), who founded a cherubim and seraphim church 'Itedo Isinmi Ayo' in Egan Road in Ado-Ota Local Government Area of the state. and three people after discovering human parts buried inside a Samuel's church.
He was arrested by security operatives of the state after a serial killer was napped last week. the serial killer was the one that leads the police to the prophet after he claims that the prophet was the person he supplies human parts to.
Among the three others arrested was an herbalist who helps the prophet to buried two human body at the entrance of the church.
the Ogun state police commissioner, Mr. Ahmed Iliyasu while speaking on the arrest said, " On the strength of the intelligence, detectives from the Ota Area Command were detailed to effect the arrest of the suspect. At about 10.20am of the date, their efforts paid off when the said Jeremiah Adeola was arrested.
" On interrogation, he confessed to being a serial kidnapper and mentioned the name of the prophet as the receiver of the kidnapped children.
" Upon his revelation, he was taken to the church of the said prophet at Iyana-Iyesi Ota, where 77-year-old Samuel Babatunde, the man in charge of the church, and one Haruna Afolabi, a 42-year-old traditional worshiper, were arrested.
" The floor of the church was dug as described by the first suspect, and suspected human parts were brought out.
The commisioner of police said forensic examination will be done on the body as the prophet who owns the church claims he buried pigs not human body so as to bring good furtunes and other good things to him and the church. On the other hand, the arrested serial killer who leads the police to the prophet said he recently sold two children to the prophet at 50,000 each while the prophet claimed that the serial killer has mental problem.

It was learnt that on August 11, the operation Zenda Special Crack Squad of the Benue State Command engaged themself in a gun duel with some gang members of one of the most wanted criminal Terwase Akwaza, popularly known as Ghana.
The Command's spokesperson, ASP. Moses Joel Yamu, said the gun battle ensued when the Crack Squad stormed a criminal hideout at a location on the border with Taraba State, following a reliable information that Terwase Akwaza aka Ghana and his gang members were holding a meeting.
The bandits immediately opened fire on sighting the Police team and in the ensuing gun duel, one Danladi Awudu aka Jerry who was hosting the meeting was hit by a bullet while others escaped with bullet wounds as there were traces of blood stains all over the place, however, he was confirmed dead on reaching the hospital.
The team according to the spokeman recovered an Assault rifle No. 2051679 with one hundred and fifteen rounds of live ammunition, ten live cartridges, assorted charms, two army camouflage shorts and other items.

A 19 year old teenage boy from the eastern China recently underwent a successful surgery to partially remove one of his breasts that grew into the size of an A-cup bra since he was 13 which was said to be caused by the consumption of fast food.
According to a Chinese newspaper Qianjiang Evening Post, the patient, known by a pseudonym Xiao Yang, lives in the Cangnan county of Zhejiang Province.
He noticed a significant growth in his right breast six years ago. He and his parents had visited numerous hospitals but failed to find a cure, Not until after they went to the Wenzhou Central Hospital in early July, and were received by Dr. Pan Zhongliang, the chief physician.

Security operatives in Ebonyi State on Tuesday August 8, arrested a notorious kidnapper in connection with the murder of the 60-year-old Mrs. Catherine Okorie Chukwu, mother of a rich Abuja based industrialist.
The suspect identified as Ogonna Alioka, popularly known as Pilot, was allegedly among the gang of kidnappers involved in the abduction and killing of 60 year old, an indigene of Ishiagu community in Ivo local council of Ebonyi State.
Late mrs. Catherine Okorie Chukwu was on January 18, 2017 abducted at her residence, later killed and buried by her assailants in a shallow grave located in a forest bordering Lokpanta in Umunneochi and Awgu local councils of Abia and Enugu states, for recognizing one of the kidnappers.
Speaking to reporters at the State Police Command, Alioka confessed to the crimes, adding that the woman was killed while fleeing from them in the bush.
Alioka also claimed that the woman’s abduction was masterminded by a politician in Ishiagu.

Botswana's athlete, Isaac Makwala
was forced to run in the rain compared to his competitors who ran theirs under a normalized weather in the first round of his race two days ago, after being suspended from the initial qualifying race for contracting norovirus.
Makwala was prevented from running in Monday's opening 200 metres heat and Tuesday's 400m final after falling victim to an outbreak of gastroenteritis that also affected about 30 other competitors at the Tower Hotel in London.
But the virus never stopped the 30 year old athlete from booking his place in the semi-final of the 200metres at the World Athletics Championship with a time of 20.20seconds.
After finishing the solo track, the Botswana athlete celebrated the blistering race with some push-ups.

The govenment of Kwara says a former governor of the state, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has returned all the pension he has received since leaving office and becoming the Number 3 citizen. Saraki wrote to the state government weeks ago to stop paying him pension and that he will also refund the ones paid. this was as a result of the alarm the Socio-Economic and Accountability Project (SERAP) raised that the senate president and some former governors, who now hold political office, were receiving double pay.
The state government said it has received Saraki's refunds and also seized to pay him pension. The statement was signed and released by Secretary to the Kwara state government, Isiaka Gold. It reads, “ The attention of Kwara state government has been drawn to issues surrounding the payment of pensions to former governors of the state, especially the senate president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON. As a result, the state government wish to make the following clarifications: That Dr Saraki, as a two-term governor, is entitled to pension as stipulated by the third schedule, Paragraph D (i) of the governor and deputy-governor ((payment of pension) Law, No. 12 of 2010 of Kwara state. That the said pension has been duly remitted to his account, like other former governors’, since he left office but when via a letter dated 20th August 2015 addressed to the state government, Dr Saraki requested that the payment of pension to his account be stopped and the amount already credited to the account be refunded to the government, the state government promptly complied. That the government not only stopped the payment of the said pension, the amount already paid into Dr Saraki’s account since he left office was deducted from the money owed to him as well as his other outstanding lawful entitlements. In view of the foregoing, it should be noted that neither the Kwara state government nor Dr Bukola Saraki violated the state pension law or any other law for that matter. The state pension law empowers the state government to pay pension to former governors of the state.”

A 20 year old young man accused of tying his roommate up at gunpoint before stealing £60 from him met his waterloo after he fell at sleep at the crime scene.
Kanyoni Sedekiya was arrested by the Abilene Police on Friday after the robbery incident in West Texas.
According to the police statment, the suspect was armed with a gun at his apartment complex early Friday when he argued with his roommate, whom he bound as he demanded money from him.
According to the authorities, Sedekiya then fell asleep. His roommate who managed to get free around 4 a.m., slip to a neighbor’s apartment and summon police as Sedekiya was sleeping.
When officers arrived, they discovered the suspect was asleep on the sofa with a gun in his lap. They knocked on the door, only for Sedekiya to turn off the lights and refuse to open up
Sedekiya eventually surrendered and has been locked up at the Taylor County Jail with a $60,000 bond.

Not less than 250,000 Citizen have signed an online petition that Brigitte Macron , the wife of the French President Emmanuel Macron, should not be given the official status of first lady,
France currently doesn’t have an official first lady and during his election campaign, Macron said he would create the position for his wife and pledged it would not be paid for with public funds, but the petition claims it will cost the French taxpayer money.
The online petition was published on the change.org platform and created by Thierry Paul Valette , the founder of the “national equality” movement.
The petition specifies that, if enacted, the special status would allow the first lady benefit from the French budget. Having an office, staff and an allowance from the public purse are examples of some such benefits. see petition form below:

The Malaysia Police on Sunday, August 6, picked up a total of 409 foreigners including Nigerians and busted a passport-forging syndicate masterminded by a Pakistani man in the first large-scale joint operation led by Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division.
Not less than 200 law enforcement officers hit the streets to nab foreigners linked to international terror groups, those without valid documents and those suspected of illegal activities.
Public buses were also stopped for checks and in one instance, a Nigerian man ran so fast to escape that bystanders commented that he was faster than Usain Bolt. Though the Police personnel managed to catch him as it took five of them to overpower him. (As seen in the picture and video below)
The Counter Terrorism Division head, Deputy Commissioner Datuk Ayob Khan, later confirmed that the operation was held as part of preparations for the 2017 SEA Games, which starts on Aug 19.
Concentrating on the city centre around Jalan Masjid India, security personnel in full tactical gear were not only armed but also equipped with radionuclide identification devices (RID) to detect radioactive material.
Counter Terrorism Division officers, along with their comrades from other units such as the Special Action Unit, General Operations Force Tiger Platoon and Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, took part.
Other agencies involved were the Immigration Department, Atomic Energy Licensing Board, National Registration Department and Interpol.
Police also detected fake passport-makers and seized some RM54,000 (S$17,154) along with 70 passports, including 67 Indian passports, and a machine used to forge immigration stickers.
A Resident, Annuar Amin, 43, said he was shocked to see dozens of suspects tied up at the apartment courtyard as they awaited processing.
He said, " I was about to go back upstairs, but I saw people being rounded up." "Then I heard loud noises, so I decided to just wait below until everything was over."
Deputy Commissioner Ayob said the 409 foreigners detained were brought back to the police headquarters for further screening.
He said, " They were from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Indonesia, Myanmar, Oman, Yemen and Nigeria, among others," he said.
" We held those suspected of being involved in terrorism activities. The others were handed over to Immigration for offences under their jurisdiction
(The op) is focused on the Klang Valley. Our top goal is to nab foreign terrorist elements.
"We are being proactive in dealing with possible threats."
"Given that terrorists are becoming more creative in using radioactive devices, we have to be equipped with the right tools," he said.

Speaking to Northern City News after being paraded before newsmen at the Police headquarters in Bauchi on Friday , Musa said he started the illegal business in 2011.
The resident of Bakin Kura of Bauchi metropolis said he had operated a provision store at the Muda Laval market but the business became distressed and he could no longer feed his large family of three wives , 35 children and 18 grandchildren.

Barcelona F.C would no longer pay a 26 million euro ($30.8 million ) bonus to Neymar for renewing his contract with the Catalan giants n 2016, the club spokesman said on Friday after his decision to join Paris Saint-Germain for a world record fee.

Josep Vives admitted Barca had been left irritated by the his decision to leave despite signing a new five year deal last year as PSG paid his 222 million euro ( $264 million ) buyout clause to leave Barca powerless to prevent Neymar moving on.

A 31 year -old Nigeria man with a hunch and 15 teenagers were among 31 suspects arrested by policemen in Bayelsa State for cult activities, armed robbery and kidnapping.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Asuquo Amba. who paraded the suspects on Thursday at the police command'4s headquarters, yenagoa Yenagoa, said they were apprehended in the last three weeks.

Amba said the suspects were arrested at various locations in the state through renewed patrol efforts of the command.

Amba said, “ On July 21, 2017 , at about 10:30am, policemen from the Azikoro division responded to a distress call that cults were entering the Azikoro Community Secondary School.

“ Consequently, plain - clothes policemen were dispatched to the scene and arrested one James Loveday, an undergraduate of the Federal University, Otuoke with a locally - made revolver pistol ”

He said further interrogation of the undergraduate led to the arrest of five of his gang members, including one Inimotimi Wilcox, aka Man Bullet, who was allegedly the unit head of the Greenlander cult group.

“ On July 24, 2017, one Joy Epidi , a housewi“ Consequently , police operatives swung into action and arrested one Timipre Moni. Cross River State Police Command on Wednesday paraded a 52 year old man, Udoh Abraham, for allegedly selling his two year old son for N150 ,000.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa, who paraded the suspect in Calabar said the Udoh was arrested on July 24 after the wife, Esther Abraham, reported the matter to the police.

Inuwa said, “ On July 24, 2017, a case of child trafficking was reported at our Uwanse division in Calabar by One Esther Abraham who reported that her husband sold their two year old son without her consent."

“ Upon investigation, Udoh revealed that he sold the child at the cost of N150,000 to an unidentified woman residing at Uyo in Akwa Ibom State.

“ Upon arrest, the sum of N103,000 was recovered from him and registered as exhibit.

“ Investigation is in progress to arrest the alleged buyer and recover the child and in the end everybody involved will be charged to court. ”

Udoh said,“ I sold the child because I needed money. I have six children and I am really sorry for not telling my wife about it. ”

27 year old South African woman and 8 other women have been rescued from a suspected sex trafficking syndicate in Malaysia in a joint operation conducted by Interpol, the Malaysian Police, the Hawks and the South African Ministry of Police.

" Nine alleged sex trafficking victims were rescued on Friday and one suspect arrested in a joint sting operation by the Hawks, South African Interpol and the Malaysian Police."

" The women, one who is South African and the other eight from different parts of the world were allegedly trafficked to Malaysia last week Saturday after they responded to take part in a beauty pageant in Kuala Lumpur."

" Upon arrival they were informed by their handler that the show has been cancelled and they were held hostage in a hotel room. The 27 year old victim managed to make a frantic phone call to her brother who then contacted Minister Fikile Mbalula."

Minister Mbalula referred the matter to the authorities and the Hawks immediately took a leading role in the case.
The hawks contacted Interpol who in turn contacted the Malaysian counterparts. The Malaysian police accompanied by their anti-human trafficking unit swooped into the hotel and fortunately managed to rescue the desperate ladies.

One of the victims was used to lure the accused back to the hotel in pretence that she was not feeling well and required immediate medical attention. The accused who is from Zimbabwe was arrested and is currently in custody in Malaysia. It is understood that the ladies were going to be smuggled to different parts of the world for sex trafficking.

One of the victims of the ghastly motor accident involving a fuel tanker and an 18-seater Delta Line bus trying to overtake each other when the tanker lost balance, as been identified as Chinedu David Emeyazia

The accident which occurred last Friday at Felele on the Abuja-Lokoja Highway claimed nothing less than 25 lives. Though the late Emeyazia, managed to jump out of the burning vehicle but however, later died from injuries sustained due to what his friends described as poor emergency response.

Until his tragic death, Mr Emeyazia, from Issele Mkitime, Delta State was the CEO of Dilon Global Services, Abuja.

Two tricycle riders popularly called Keke-NAPEP were equally burnt in the accident.

Apart from music , what else does he like to do? The Angelina rapper said, “ I am interested in politics and I see myself becoming a politician in future.

One is not going to do music forever and I need to plan my life properly. I also love to engage in business, so I see myself doing a lot of that too. ”

South Africa Bonang Mathrmba OAP, says Mavin Singer, is the only recognised female musician in Nigeria.

In her interview with Tribune, she said that the music industry of her country celebrates female entertainers more than Nigeria’s, which to her mind, has bigger clout and should therefore set good examples.

She said “For instance, Tiwa Savage is the only popular female voice in Nigeria that is greatly celebrated, while the rest of the country honours and recognises men more. This is an area of observation that can be more elevated. Our (South Africa’s) industry is far much kinder to our female counterparts and genuinely celebrates them and allows them to shine'.

Not less than fewer 42 men allegedly involved in homosexual acts have been arrested by the Lagos State police command.
It was learnt that the suspects were rounded up at a hotel " Vincent Hotel", where they were caught in the act which is no sealed off at Weigh Bridge in Owode Onirin area of Lagos State on Saturday.


The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the arrest, he said, “ It is true. About 42 suspected homosexuals were arrested and the hotel has been condoned off while investigation continues. They are in custody of the Lagos State Task Force and will be charged to court soon.”
