petengine: It doesn't matter what location you choose when you fill your DS-160 form. You can always create a new DS-160 form and update your appointment location.
What matters now is that, there are slots in April at Abuja. Pick any date and update your DS-160 form to capture the new interview location.
Act NOW! I’ve been on the portal for the past 15mins and I can’t move from June 2025. |

Use the option if your resumption is closer.. 👍 Hi… So, I can see dates available this month and next but can’t seeem to move forward after picking a date. Is there something I am not doing right?

I tried but my local bank USD card did not work. I’ll have to get someone in the US to help out. Thanks for your advice. |

I would like to apply for my f1 visa interview as I have my I-20. Please, what do I have to do? Do I have to pay the fees before booking a date?
My resumption is September 4 |

Bobomaigida: GIC is your investment, if your visa is not approved , you can simply inform the bank to send you back the funds, and they will do it.
The issue is, we have a trust deficit with these guys, when we say have millions and we have not applied those millions to some expenses, it looks like the funds are for demonstration purposes. Like I said earlier, GIC are not mandatory, but it helps us reduce explaining POF to some extent. Thanks so much. I’ll advise her accordingly Any one in the house know how to go about GIC? |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Bensticks1: 10:12am On Aug 28, 2024 |
Bobomaigida: She is supposed to look at what will make her application stronger and review the application with a VO's mind, saying GIC wasn't an option though not mandatory would have reduced any unfavorable review by the VO, from your submission she has the funds, so she needs to put them to use to show she has access to them.
If she had GIC, she would have sorted everything about living expenses and focus on tuition POF, though she would still have to explain HOW she raised the funds.
For a business registered in one year to raise such huge funds, she will need to explain in graphics details how the business raises money. With the way things are going, what if she does GIC and the VO still isn’t convinced, what happens to the money in GIC? Is it really advisable to go ahead with the GIC? |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Bensticks1: 8:53am On Aug 28, 2024 |
techgen: Las las, after submitting your application, pray for a VO with good intentions to handle your files.
The truth is, with such account statements…she was supposed to pay the full tuition to prove her SOA regardless the documents. Again, these days…IRCC hardly accepts FD, let her liquidate the funds.
Note; tone properly guided by gurus in the house, you have to show the additional documents submitted by her.
All the best to her. The school does not allow payment of school fees prior to study permit issuance. That’s the school’s process. Even a GIC wasn’t really an option because she thought, what is the point when the study permit isn’t guaranteed. But you’re right, let’s all just pray for VOs with good intentions. |

jojomario: In as much as reasons for denials are somehow baseless recently. But, this is well stated that there was no concrete information on that sum of fund. Explain any form of huge deposit on your account with documents where necessary. There were no huge deposits in the account except if amounts not exceeding N50,000 - N100,000 regular inflows and outflows would be classified as “huge” |

Good morning!
A friend got a refusal on July 25 for an application made on June 25. GCMS notes were ordered and they arrived yesterday. House, please assist to look into this. Your comments are well appreciated. Btw, she is a banker who also owns a business registered last year June (one year turnover is over 100m and she provided statement of the business, CAC and invoices). Two year course of CAD23k per year and POF of N72m (27m in Bank and 45m in FD certificate).
GCMS NOTE The applicant's assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for the applicant (and any accompanying family member(s), fi applicable). Bank statement and term investment deposit certificate for PA provided. The source of funds is poorly documented, and there is no evidence provided showing how PA came to accumulate such savings. Limited evidence pertaining to the source on stated funds. nI the absence of satisfactory documentation showing the source of these funds, I am not satisfied the applicant has sufficient funds for the intended international study. |

Goldxxx: A big thank you to everyone on here. My sister's visa just got approved on our second attempt. We submitted June 28th, sent webform a few times on Sunday, and PPR dropped today! We all did this together, once again, a big thank you to everyone! P.S. The first refusal was due to lack of family ties and financial issues. This time around, we used our parents as family ties and as far as the financial part is concerned, we made a big mistake of using an ordinary investment slip as POF, GCMS note came back and it was noted that the investment certificate was given "less weight" because it wasn't from a commercial bank. We deposited a huge amount into her account, and supported it with some docs and the rest naa story... Congratulations! Just a few questions 1. How much was the school fees? 2. How many years was the course for? 3. How much was the POF provided on the initial certificate and the subsequent adjustment? Thank you |

JMG12: 1. Yes, she need to state all previous refusal 2. You need to calculate if that amount will be sufficient for her temporary stay, from my estimate, she will be 90kCAD. Check it from your end. She will have to explain with a document that her investment was liquidated since the money will enter her account as a lump sum within a short period of time, even if they decide to deposit it in installments. 3. Yes, she can print her statement and attach the initial FD certificate/document she used with the liquidation certificate or any relevant document to show the funds were liquidated. 4. No, she won't be needing another medical report it is valid for 1 year. Thank you boss |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Bensticks1: 6:37am On Jul 28, 2024 |
JMG12: Yes, you can reapply also consider deferring your admission to Jan and more importantly work on your application, so you won't make the same mistake. Thanks for your valuable responses. She has completed the new application and made necessary explanations attaching every necessary documents except the PoF side. She has also gotten a two weeks resumption extension from the school. Now the questions; 1. Does she need to explain on her SOP that she was denied visa, why she was denied it and what she has done differently? 2. She initially used fixed deposit investment certificate which was for N45m along with her N27m in a commercial bank. She has now liquidated the FD and the money will drop into her same commercial bank account on Monday. Is this total amount (N72m) enough for her two year course which costs CAD24k? Depending on the response for this, she has her car on standby for immediate sale. She will get N8m from that. Her school does not allow school fees payment before study permit issuance. 3. Can she print the statement on Tuesday and use the FD certificate/car sale agreement to explain the recent lump sums? 4. Would she be needing to do a new medicals or she can use the one she did for the previous application (done on July 1, 2024). Thank you for your contributions. |

Hello Everyone
I need the gurus in the house here for their opinions.
Is it too late to reapply for a denied application for which the MSc resumes August 26, 2024?. Niagara University, Ontario.
The application was denied yesterday for inadequate funding.
Valuable contributions would appreciate and this is for a friend |

So I was called last week Saturday for the finance and pension role and I got asked about the expected annual pay... My answer seemed to surprise the person who called me.
So, I want to ask, what is the annual pay like for this job role? |

Hello everyone..
So, I’ll like someone to PLEASE help me out here.
A couple of friends have told me that the Account Technicians Scheme (ATS) issues by ICAN can be evaluated by WES. I’ll like to confirm this position.
Secondly, if so, do I include ICAN as the issuing body?
I’ll appreciate a prompt response to my concerns.
Thank you |

Cherryberry456: People who have written CIMA have advised not to request for exemption if you're evaluating using WES. Just write the first 4 papers to save yourself the headache Thank you! |

I’ll like to ask one question... I have an ICAN certificate and I’ll like to write CIMA taking exemptions with my ICAN but then, I read about WES not evaluating such CIMA favorably.
Can anyone in the house help clear this, please.
Thank you |
