You are 100% correct and that was the genesis of Obi's issue with Nasir El-Rufai when the year 2012, El-Rufai pointed out that the economy of Anambra was sinking while Peter Obi was governor. Instead of Peter Obi to take corrections and fix the economy of his state, he launched a volley of attacks on El-Rufai and even calling El-Rufai the enemy of the Igbo race.

El-Rufai was one of the first people to expose the fraud called Obi in 2012 while Obi was governor when El-Rufai analysed Anambra's economy and declared that Peter Obi was destroying the economy of Anambra while lying to his people. El-Rufai exposed the fact that Anambra was one of the poorest states in the country at that time. Many Igbos including Peter Obi cursed and insulted El-Rufai for saying the truth.

Ajaokuta is a combination of Ebira terminology viz; Aja, which means one certain nocturnal bird and okuta is a two term which is 'oku' and uta. Oku is an adjective, meaning landing on something while uta means platform.

Ajaokuta is Ebira language meaning a bird (Aja) lands on a platform.

Ned Nwoko, the Senator representing Delta North senatorial district is set to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He was elected to the Senate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general election.

Mr Nwoko exclusively confirmed his decision to Premium Times through a response to an enquiry by our reporter to him about the matter.

If he defects, the APC will have all three senators in the state in its fold as the senators representing Delta Central and Delta South senatorial districts won their seats on the platform of APC in the 2023 elections.

Mr Nwoko’s relationship with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the governor’s godfather/predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa has not been cordial of late.

This has to do with alleged marginalisation of Mr Nwoko and his constituency by the governor who prefers, instead to focus attention on the interests of his godfather, Mr Okowa.

Both former Governor Okowa and Mr Nwoko hail from Delta North.

Mr Okowa, a defeated PDP vice presidential candidate in the 2023 election is said to be eyeing the Delta North senatorial seat, currently occupied by Mr Nwoko in the coming 2027 election.

It's not a Yoruba name, it is rather
an Ebira name.
In the olden days, our forefathers who were hunters usually see birds called Aja in Ebira language. I don't the name in English, but let me try and describe it.
This particular bird usual flies in the night and usually on the road where people are passing. When it sees humans walking on the road, it would fly ahead and perch on the road waiting for them to move closer before it flies again. You can relate if you lived in the farm before.

Now back to the story. Our forefather usually see this bird Aja perching on the rock, and we call rock Ida and we call to perch "OOku". So, Ajaokuta means the bird Aja perchs on the rock.
That was how Ajaokuta was named.
