He also recounted how mismanagement by those closest to him, including his own family, led to the downfall of his businesses. “I put my wife, Anthonia, and my family in charge, but they ran the business down. My workers were building houses with the money they were making from my companies without my knowledge.”

The Struggles of a Fallen Tycoon
Anabor’s life today stands in stark contrast to his opulent past. He recalls owning more than 50 luxury cars, including Bentleys and Rolls Royces, and running thriving businesses, from printing presses to security companies. Yet, poor investments and exploitation left him with almost nothing. Properties he once owned, like his house on Isaac John and his guest house on Joel Ogunnaike, were sold for a fraction of their value.

He also addressed rumors about his current situation, denying claims that he is now a taxi driver. “People write whatever they like. I have a driver who takes me around in a Toyota Pencil Light, but I’m not the one driving or doing kabukabu.”

Reflections on Friendship and Family
Anabor’s experience has left him disillusioned with the people he once trusted. “The friends you have now are not your best friends. Your household enemies are often your family,” he said. Despite his struggles, he remains optimistic about the future. “I know I will come back again. You’re bound to go up and down seven times, but with God’s grace, you’ll rise again.”

Faith and Resilience
Throughout his ordeal, Anabor has turned to faith for strength. “My prayer is found in Psalm 1: ‘Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked.’ I still believe in Philippians 4:13: ‘I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.’”

At 55 years old, Godwin Anabor remains a testament to the unpredictability of life and the enduring power of resilience. His parting words serve as a reminder to remain vigilant: “Everybody should watch their back, because there are household enemies.”

*MONDAY OKPEBHOLO: THE INEC 'BOUTIQUE' GOVERNOR KICKS OFF*

When some of us raised alarm about how hollow and empty Monday Okpebholo always sounded during the campaigns, some people felt it was just criticism. But barely a week after he was sworn in based on a brazenly rigged election, the disaster that INEC foisted on Edo State as Governor has started unravelling.

In what could be described as the most embarrassing start to any administration in the history of Nigeria (both military and civilian) Gov. Okpebholo has become the butt of jokes on social media with a video of him commissioning a boutique going viral on social media. The boutique is said to belong to Kelly Okungbowa aka Ebo Stone, a senior leader of the Lions and Tigers, the APC rigging machine that used violence, intimidation and financial inducement to facilitate his emergence as governor.

It is also troubling that this is coming after the announcement of two of his godfather Oshiomhole's nominees – Oshiomhole’s London-based first son Cyril Oshiomhole as Commissioner for health and hardline Oshiomhole loyalist Gani Audu as Chief of Staff, in a move that clearly shows that Okpebholo's emergence as Governor is essentially Oshiomhole's Third Term Agenda by proxy. He could barely wait to start mortgaging the state to please his benefactors hence the sense of urgency to immediately appoint Oshiomhole's son as Commissioner.

This faulty start to governance is a signpost to evil that awaits our dear State, the evil that Edo people laboured hard to avoid by rejecting them on the ballot but APC and INEC connived to commit the biggest electoral heist of foisting a clueless stooge on Edo People.


Edo State is an enlightened state with progressive and forward thinking people. We have a proud history that has always stood up to oppression dating back to the pre-colonial era. Our forefathers did not fight to earn such a reputation only for us to be governed by puppets and stooges.

It is shameful enough that the whole world watched our Governor struggle to recite his own oath of office and as if that wasn't enough he proceeds to start off his administration by commissioning a Boutique owned by a known thug. To be fair, Okpebholo did promise to “provide insecurity” to Edo residents while he was campaigning.

In which universe is boutique a fundamental objective and directive principle of state policy to warrant commissioning by a Governor with fanfare and the official paraphernalia of the state? How have we rolled back the clock to a time where political leaders decide that only the children who spring from their loins are good enough to rule the rest of us?

With each misstep, Edo people have their eyes on the judiciary to do the needful and uphold the People's mandate because Edo does not deserve this kind of mediocrity and this is definitely not what we voted for.
