I would rather prefer you go into profitable ventures that you will be making money on your own.

I really wants to learn programing
But now I don't know what to do since I have already started school and I have already paid my fees.
At this age I never start to see one naira of my own.

Honestly speaking am tired of school
I wrote my first jamb 2021 and went to maritime academy where I spent 2 years of my life wasted my time and parents money no proper lecture 1 lecturer take 5 course like is a secondary school, I tried to explain to my parents but they did not listen to me, they said am the one who chose the school no body chose it for me, and I have this fear of dropping out then I wish i new I would have drop out from that school.
To cut the long story short the school has no certificate.

So last year my dad friend and I discussed because I was afraid to tell my dad that the school I attended has no certificate so I explain everything to my dad friend and advice me to retake jamb and apply for Ambrose Alli university Ekpoma that he will know how to convince my dad about it I should not worry, which I did.

But now I am in 100 level am 22 years old and I feel like I shouldn't have taken this jamb and people around and my friends are saying the other side of school that am just wasting my time and my dad money that I should join them in fraud or learn a skill instead.
My friends we wrote jamb together are in 400L now some are doing their HND.

Some even say an here, I carry school for head I no get money I no get hand work or i think say job self dey after the school make I dey play. Some even call me failure when they heard I started from 100 level again.

And now am tired and confused I don't know what to do the feelings of dropping out keep hitting me but I have already paid my feels for the session and am unable to concentrate I keep thinking about it every seconds.

Please I need help and advice.

Go to universities in UK and USA you will find out that the majority of their students are from Africa and other developing countries like India, Cuba, Philippines and the rest.

And when they graduate, guarantee of job no dey. U see people who graduate still doin regular jobs after many years with debts on ground. School ain't scam though. U gotta mix it with skills

The best if you must go school one need to get something doing because most graduate are full of pride especially first class
They will be like I can't do this I can't do that.
And funny enough the system will never advise people get something before applying instead they will tell you going to school will boost your IQ, will make you special in the society, will make people respect you.
Of which they know we don't don't need it.

They already know that people now understand that going to a university is a waste of time and money, people are already waking up.
That is why they are now using the word you are not going there to be rich you are going there for the knowledge, a knowledge that can not be converted to money is a waste if you need knowledge you don't need to pay for it, it free on YouTube and other platforms.

University is an investment the only thing you need just know how to read and write you are good to go.

The problem is that education has been bastardised in Nigeria

Do you know that with a proper secondary school education, one can establish a business and be on their own? They need not further into university level of education?

To me if to gain knowledge is the only aim of going to school I think there is no need going to school because your internet can help you gain as much knowledge as you want, your AI and YouTube.

Some say you can be an entrepreneur after school without working for people, do you know you can still be an entrepreneur without going to a university all you need is skill,development and consistency, planing not solving physics and mathematics finding X always.

The plane truth is that the school can never teach you entrepreneurship they can never teach you how to be independent, how to make money all they teach is abstract things that will not help your day to day life.

If you can think properly you will know that university is to prepare people to be servant not boss (civil servant) search the meaning of servant.

I see no reason wasting 4--5 years of your life and resources just to acquire a certificate that is almost useless in this country. When you can easily gain knowledge from the internet.

University is for the rich and those with strong connections it's not for the average people.
Many rich people only want the certificate they don't need it because it useless, while the poor always need it and it is very useless to them.

In general the university certificate should be your want not your need because you don't actually need it. It should be the last thing thinking of having

The school fees of AAU is now like that of a private school and the price of their textbook is too much imagine 6k for one textbook.

Ekpoma, the community come worst no water no light the price of water now is 300 naira per 25Litre.

Classrooms scatter anyhow especially those large hall use for general classes no chair to sit down as in the inconvenience and stress for that school is too much.

If government Don sell the school make them let us know abeg.

Hello I need help and advice, I attended a private maritime academy after being brain 🧠 watched that I will get a job after graduating from the institution unknown to me that the school is not accredited.

And now my dad friend called me to rewrite jamb and go to Ambrose Alli university for another four years to study computer science
and am 22 years old now.
but to me I feel like it will be better if I learn a skill instead.

School and job opportunities in Nigeria is meant for the rich and those that have strong connections with the rich, it only favor them not the poor that have nobody, before we go understand and fully believe time go done go.

Please I want to know if it's possible to learn a skill while studying and still balance the academics work, I just gained admission.
I want to learn a tailoring 🪡 skill but am studying computer science at Ambrose Alli university, Ekpoma, so I don't know how possible it will be.

You will advise to go to a polytechnic rather than a university? I want to believe this is a joke.

Having HND sets you further back than your mates. Job opportunities are not only for the rich. Ever heard of graduate trainee programs? That is the easiest way to get into the workforce straight after NYSC with your university degree setting you up as a strong candidate.

School is not a scam please

The reason I talk about federal polytechnic is that, is not everyone that can meet up with federal university instead of writing jamb repeatedly and wasting time is better one go for a fed poly instead because the cost of a state university is now high that a common man can't even afford it, for example Ambrose Alli university, their fees is 230k and above.

So am not saying school is a scam, what am saying is that try and get a skill before going to school in case the certificate disappoint you, you can fall back on your skill without any regret and frustration.

I never said school is a scam, what am saying is that one should not fully depend on the certificate, having a skill and a certificate is okay, In case the certificate disappoint one can get whare to fall back to immediately without any form of frustration.

Please my advice to those in secondary school or those writing waec this year please and please immediately after your waec don't just rush and carry jamb form or carry jamb for awaiting result.
Because the way the country is going now it looks like education is only for the rich and job opportunities is for the rich and those who have strong connections with the rich,

(please after your waec try and use 2 to 3 years to lean a skill or a trade) and If you still
like going to school after learning skill I will advise you to go for federal polytechnic instead don't waste straight four to 5 years of your life in the university it doesn't worth it anymore.

Don't allow anyone to convince you anymore that education is the key, this specific key now is almost becoming useless in this present day Nigeria.

Because It will be very difficult to learn a skill or trade after NYSC most especially when you want to learn it from a secondary school. graduate, am not try to condem education but am only telling you not to depend on that certificate.

Not even getting a job is the main problem
The real issues with those schools is that they are not recognize and accredited. They will keep telling you that they are FG approved and NBTE approved.

Save the money and invest it here in Nigeria.

In Nigeria there are so many private maritime academy of which all of them come with one idea which is job opportunities after graduating from their institution.
On a general note, maritime academy is not a military institute they are meant to offer sea time training not military training, so please the public should be careful about such school with such promises.
Because we all know that to get a job in this country is almost impossible after graduating so that's why those people come up with this idea to dupe people.
Try as much as possible to avoid private maritime academy they are not accredited the only accredited maritime academy in Nigeria are maritime academy of Nigeria, oron and Nigeria maritime university and they don't give any job offer, so don't be deceived.
To me and my own experience as a cadet I would advise the public to not go to any maritime academy or university be it federal or not my reasons are : 1, the fees are high
2, poor infrastructure, 3, they focus more on military kind of training and impersonation, 4, poor lecture, 5, the suffering they called training and the high fees doesn't worth it 6, their fees are paid every semester.
While for the private maritime academy : 1, some of these academy don't have their own personal building, a school without a personal building can never be accredited Note that, 2, those that claim to be accredited by the NBTE have all their accredited course expired years ago do well to check the NBTE website under IEIs institute and check each of those maritime academy course accreditation status to see for your self 3, they do request for upfront fee payment, Note no legit school will request for upfront fee payment.
Please maritime academy is just a total wast of time and resources.
If you can afford education is better you go for fed poly or fed uni and if you don't have the resources please don't wast your time you can leave a skill instead.
The truth is that you can never see anybody talking about this.
Please the government should investigate all private maritime academy, those schools are ruing people life.
