His coming was to herald the end of the period of the Old Covenant — the Last days of God's Judgment against Israel(God's Sword against His people)—, and the beginning of the time of the harvest, the end time— the time of the Kingdom of God in which the Lost of Sheep of Israel are gathered by Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ spoke extensively of the destruction to befall those in the land at the time to mark the Last Days, particularly in Matthew 24, Luke 18 & 21, and Mark 13.
