For whatever reasons, this will not be the first and last time an aircraft may violate the geopolitical airspace of a friendly or belligerent State. The option is not to "arrest" but to escort the plane out of the violated geopolitical spheres. Nigeria and ECOWAS may not bully AES militarily but AES is already displaying an untoward belligerent stance.

In summary...

Your airline violated airspace without informing the host nation of it's intended flight path. They forced it to land and your plane and soldiers are in captivity.

What are these soldiers doing in the Sahel
Who gave the go ahead for the departure.
Who were they going to meet?
What was the purpose of the trip

Oh, my God, Nigeria is finished. We just glaringly strolled into the lion's den, not one but Three Lions.
