All this praise singing and dishonest narrative, when deep down everyone knows the reality on ground, is becoming difficult to defend.

A President stood on the inauguration podium and boldly declared, “Subsidy is gone.” Nigerians, despite the shock and hardship, were prepared to endure the pain for a while because we were promised that the sacrifice would eventually bring relief and prosperity.

Yes, many believed the removal was poorly planned and badly timed, but citizens still held on to hope, patiently waiting to see the benefits of the suffering imposed on them.

Today, years later, what do we have to show for it? More borrowing than previous administrations, worsening hardship, rising poverty, inflation destroying livelihoods, and little visible improvement in the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

And this is without even touching the alarming state of insecurity, the weakening of institutions, the perceived destruction of the judiciary, and the growing lack of confidence in our electoral process.

At some point, we must stop pretending and honestly re-evaluate the direction of this country.
