2023: PDP and politics of healing Wike’s self-inflicted injury

Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld.

One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast.

Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest.

https://www.thecable.ng/2023-pdp-and-politics-of-healing-wikes-self-inflicted-injury/amp
So Wike refused to microzone the pdp presidential slot to the south east knowing that the south south and south west had ruled.

Yet he goes Abt screaming agreement is agreement. If this isnt narcissistic, I don't know what else is.
Wike killed pdp with his greed and he wants to do same for Rivers.

Shud Atiku win I don't trust he will do much better than Tinubu.
In fact he is part of the d old bloc of politicians,we need to rid off Nigeria's political space.
Atiku has spent so much on contesting for presidency and the temptation will be strong to recoup his investments
Once he lapses into this, his appointees will follow suit and we will be back in our economic and poverty quagmire.

They won't bro, they are accomplices. They are very secretive and always give the terrorists the military movements.
Recently the militants from these axis paraded cache of weapons seized from the army and were making their video from a confide room. But what stuck me and what people didn't notice was that in the background, there were lots of noises, children screaming and laughing and playing, hens and chicken making sounds,.adults discussing.
What does that tells you? These people are parts of the villagers and they mostly have their families involved. They just hide their weapons in the bushes and act as if they are normal people..
If military attack those places now, those villagers will turn to victims.. they will claim farmers.
That's why I don't really believe some of the so called kidnapped victims shown by those guys in that axis... They may be their families just to deceive the military.

Villagers know them, deals with them, so, they must face the consequences together. Good that the military didn't buy this one this time around and apologised. They have the backing of more intelligence gathering from the US.
Hmm so true.

Politics › APC Replies Obasanjo's Sharp Criticism Of Tinubu Regime - Calls Him A Hypocrite by bewisemasses(op): 10:56am On Apr 09
APC slams Obasanjo for saying Tinubu competing with Buhari in incompetence

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s claim that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is “competing with Buhari in incompetence.”

The APC described the comment as “laughable and disgracefully hypocritical.”

Obasanjo, in his new book Nigeria: Past and Future, launched in March to mark his 88th birthday, criticised successive administrations, stating that only Tinubu’s government appears to rival that of the late President Muhammadu Buhari in inefficiency.

In the book’s first chapter, From the Beginning Till Now: The Missing Key, he had labelled Buhari’s government as the “worst civil administration regime” in Nigeria’s history.

However, in a statement on Monday, Lagos APC spokesperson, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, faulted Obasanjo’s remarks, saying it was ironic for him to accuse anyone of incompetence given the controversies that trailed his own tenure.
Obasanjo’s time in office is remembered for political arrogance, squandered opportunities, and undemocratic practices. For him to now label others as incompetent is the height of hypocrisy,” Oladejo said.

The party highlighted Tinubu’s policy moves, such as the removal of fuel subsidies, the overhaul of the foreign exchange regime, and efforts to confront entrenched inefficiencies, as proof of his commitment to fixing Nigeria’s challenges. It attributed Obasanjo’s criticism to “bitterness and resentment,” arguing that he no longer has the influence to dictate the country’s direction.

The APC also pointed to alleged corruption and failed policies under Obasanjo’s administration, insisting that Nigeria’s current structural problems predate Buhari and Tinubu.

“President Tinubu is not in a race with Obasanjo or anyone else. He is focused on reform, recovery, and renewal. No amount of potshots from yesterday’s bitter men will derail that journey,” the party stated.

Great idea. The man is thinking while other govs are busy playing politics. But with all d defections, I still think Tinubu is still far from winning the 2027 elections as the northerners are giving Tinubu a little finger, and he has played into the trap of the NORTH.

He didn't see beyond arresting El Rufai. He knows that Elrufai is very smart but the ogogoro man decieved him that nothing will happen.

When El Rufai was making those statements on national TV, they are unaware of the game. Today the HATE has spread ALL OVER THE NORTH to level that no one can organise a support procession for Tinubu in the core North.

Now, El Rufai lost his mother while in detention which has made the HATE in the north to spread more. The narrative is that the woman died over shock of his son’s imprisonment.

Ofcourse, all Northerners even in his government including the NSA and VP extended condolences, displaying secret solidarity 🤣 to El Rufai.

They have already accomplished the mission, while he will be granted bail by the court soon. The is literally beating him in his own game.

Party already have plan B and C long ago.

Muslim-Muslim ticket is chocking him to the extent that he doesn’t know whether to drop Shettima or not esp as America is on his neck for the genocide ongoing.

The governors they compelled into APC will still watch them lose 🤣. I was listening to Umahi shouting that all leaders should start telling people the good work of Tinubu 🤣. That you can’t be claiming to be supporting Tinubu and you’re not trying to convince people with his good work🤣. He’s already seeing that the sabotage is unavoidable.

Tinubu will play politics and know say no be only him sabi.

2. Those who make comments like "They are all the same", "Opposition won't do any better", "I won't waste my vote, they're all the same", "Tinubu will rig it, there's no point voting" and son on. The goal is to discourage you from voting, because the only way Tinubu can win is low turnout.
