Vitoria’s contract was intended to extend until the 2026 World Cup, but Egypt’s underwhelming Cup of Nations performance, culminating in a shootout loss to the Democratic Republic of Congo, led to his premature departure.

The EFA stated that Vitoria, 53, and his entire coaching staff have been relieved of their duties. Mohamed Youssef, a former coach of Al Ahly, will step in on an interim basis.
