Travel › Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by BigOG: 7:07am On Dec 25, 2025 |
Fefeeee: Hi everyone, I got to Germany on a student visa earlier this year and my fiancee applied for a family reunion appointment date in March (since it takes time, we were hoping we would have gotten married before she got called). Unfortunately, I can not go to Nigeria until March next year for the wedding. We are hoping she is not called for the interview before then. Is there anything we can do? Should she apply for another date?
Thank you Hi Feefee, Isn't it a rule that if you came in as a student unmarried, you must stay at least 2 years before going back to your home country to get married for the FRV to be approved? If you don't mind, can you share which city you're in and if this doesn't matter? Can anyone else also please confirm this? |

sojeokeowo2014: I was asked to send it as attachment to the email I received the health insurance request which I did on 4th of july, 2025, but up til now, no update from them. I am thinking to send it via courier as physical document. If you were asked to send it as a reply to the mail and they've not responded, it's either one of these: 1. They didn't receive your mail or they probably skipped it. Call them to confirm. 2. The incoming health insurance you sent is not valid. Use Educare24, or Mawista if you don't have an already activated German public health insurance. If you do, you can also send the insurance certificate. |

Imitxr: Please, I need help too.
I applied 1st of July 2024 through this link: https://service2.diplo.de/rktermin/extern/choose_categoryList.do?locationCode=lago&realmId=347 for CATEGORY B VISA. And I got a mail response immediately, stating as follows:
Your registration to apply for a long-term visa (more than 90 days) for students of category B has been successful.
Your reference number is:
Each applicant must have a separate booking/registration. Each applicant, including minor children, needs an appointment.
Please note that the waiting period is over a year. You will only receive an e-mail with the exact date of your appointment four weeks prior to your appointment.
I want to know if: 1. This application is still valid? (as I didn't apply using the new link: https://digital.diplo.de/visa)
2. When should I expect notification for my appointment?
3. Do I need to re-apply using the new link as I already have admission to start in October 2025 and I have also commenced with enrollment but yet to pay the fees? Can you confirm if you received any mail saying you should confirm that you still want to go ahead with the visa application by clicking a link. It should be an email from the embassy |

Hannania: Use that of Educare24 and pick the XL. The embassy will not ask you to pay for one year up front. For Educare, the contract is binding from the day you enter Germany. Thank you. Is there a reason why you don't advise that I pick the Educare24 S package? And since I'll still activate my TK insurance when I get to Germany, can I also cancel my contract with Educare? |

BigOG: INCOMING HEALTH INSURANCE
I'm writing this because most people (including myself) have been having to go back and forth with this incoming health insurance thing.
Embassy does not accept the free incoming health insurance DR-WALTER gives you when you apply for a statutory health insurance (TK) that will be activated only after you've gotten to Germany.
If you're required to provide an incoming health insurance, you might have to apply for the Educare24 package by DR-WALTER. (Separate from the insurance you used for enrollment)
You can submit your TK insurance if you've somehow activated it i.e you've started paying the monthly contribution which is approximately €144.
However the cost of Educare24 is €34.5 per month. So you'll pay ~€420 for the Incoming health insurance if the embassy asks for at least 1 year coverage. Which is quite expensive.
For people who have successfully submitted their incoming health insurance, which option did you go for and, please kindly provide any affordable alternative that you know about thank you. @Chriswazo if you don't mind sharing, which incoming health insurance did you use? |

Pesky54: The mail sent by the embassy asking for another incoming health insurance clearly stated the cause of rejection…”FREE TRAVEL”
I learnt the original owner of the incoming health insurance chose a wrong application category when applying in Dr. Walters website.
The correct category for an incoming health insurance is “Educare 24” How many months did the visa office say the incoming health insurance should be valid for? And how much did/will the Educare24 cost you? |

Pesky54: This incoming health insurance was rejected by the embassy because they wrote “free travel” in it..
Who has used Dr. Walters incoming health insurance should show us a sample of what a correct incoming insurance document from Dr. Walters looks like🙏🏽…and cost too. @Hannania and @Chriswazo what's your advice. |

Chriswazo: After the embassy sends AM and request for insurance, how long does it take from submission of the document to release of passport to dhl.
Is been over 10 days and nothing yet @Chriswazo so, how long from when you submitted your Proof of incoming health insurance did it take for DHL to pick up your passport and other documents? And how long did it also take for DHL to deliver it. I see you already updated your location to Europe |

Joanlaura: Did you submit your passport on your interview day? Or you took it home I heard the there should be a minimum of 15 months available on your passport to get a long-term visa. If you've submitted your passport and they've not reached out, it might be because of that. They'll reach out to you asking you to renew your passport if that's the case. But it might take up to a month. |

When was the deadline you were given and when did you submit? How long did it take to get AM after you submitted the additional documents? |

Thank you You can get TK Student health Insurance through Dr. walters. Search Dr. Walrers on Google and follow the prompts. You should get it within the hour. |

Ezesolomon411: How do they expect one to get a enrollment letter now when What is available is only Admission letter with conditions till August that’s when schools will start enrollment. The embassy should understand this . They might ask you to enroll, give you a time frame to submit your enrollment certificate before they process your Visa. |

Seyitej: What does this mean?
Like an admission letter will not suffice anymore? It will unless it's titled "Conditional". |
Travel › Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by BigOG: 4:35pm On Mar 09, 2025 |
I'll like to put this here.
If your school gives you a "Conditional enrollment/admission letter" the embassy will reject it and ask that you provide an unconditional enrollment letter. |

xteem001: I am also facing this same challenges..mine was the summer enrolment letter my school gave me was rejected. I heard to write to the school about l, if they can actually contact the school informing them that enrollment was valid I don't understand this. Did you go with an Admission letter or did your School give you a "conditional enrollment letter" and was rejected? If it's neither of those, did you already enroll and your enrollment certificate was rejected? Please clarify. Because it doesn't make sense that they'll reject an enrollment letter. |

Hannania: That particular email is redundant currently. I wanted to drop it @Hannania My course is taught in English, but the school requires A1 for enrollment. I have written the A1 exam, but the certificate won't be put by the time of my interview. Do you think that the embassy would require my A1 certificate to do the interview even if it's an English-taught program? |
Travel › Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by BigOG: 7:48am On Jan 21, 2025 |
Who knows if it's important to have my A1 Certificate to be interviewed.
The course is taught in English. However, the school requires A1 certificate in order to be enrolled. I'll write the A1 exam, but the Certificate will not be out before my interview date.
Will the German embassy go ahead with my interview? Please reply if you've been in this situation or know someone who has been in this situation and how it went.
Thanks |

Thepoll: What do you mean by conditional enrollment That's more like an admission letter. You get an enrollment letter after you pay for the semester fee and present other necessary documents to the school. |
Travel › Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by BigOG: 4:00pm On Jan 17, 2025 |
For those that has visited the German embassy in Nigeria for Study Visa.
If you have your admission letter(offer of conditional enrollment) but are yet to receive your enrollment letter would that be a problem? |
