Programming › Built An Ai-powered Retail Operating System With Offline-first Sync (zeneva) by Bimely(op): 7:05am On Aug 04
Over the past couple of years, I've been building Zeneva, an AI-powered retail operating system designed to help businesses manage sales, inventory, customers, and business intelligence from one platform.

The idea came from seeing how many retailers still rely on spreadsheets, manual records, and guesswork to run their businesses. We wanted to build something that not only records transactions but also helps business owners make better decisions.

Some of the features include:

Offline-first Point of Sale (POS)
Automatic synchronization when internet is available
Inventory management
Customer management (CRM)
Multi-branch support
Online storefront synchronization
AI-powered business insights and analytics
Demand forecasting and inventory recommendations

The biggest technical challenge was building an offline-first architecture that keeps sales and inventory synchronized across devices without creating duplicate or conflicting records.

We're using technologies such as React, TypeScript, Tauri, Firebase, Firestore, and Google Gemini AI to power the platform.

So far, the platform has grown beyond what we expected:

60 businesses using Zeneva across Nigeria, the United States, the United Kingdom, Kenya, and Ghana
2,786+ transactions processed
9,454+ units sold
Over ₦127 million in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV)

We're still improving the platform, especially the AI features and synchronization engine.

I'd really appreciate feedback from fellow developers here, particularly on:

Offline-first application architecture
Data synchronization strategies
AI features that would genuinely help retailers
UI/UX suggestions
Performance and scalability ideas

You can check it out here:

I'd be happy to answer any questions about the architecture, tech stack, or implementation.
