EducationRe: Guidance On WES Verification Process For IJMB Credentials by Bjayyyyyyyyyy: 11:26pm On Apr 27
Fajkingin:
This is a year too late but I opened an account because I also needed the information and couldn't find it online...until now. So this for others who are also stuck like us. I hope this helps

1. Type of Education for IJMB

When adding your IJMB credential, select:
👉 “Secondary Education”

Reason:
Even though IJMB is technically post-secondary, WES treats it as a pre-university (A-Level equivalent) qualification similar to GCE A-levels or Cambridge Advanced Level. It’s not a tertiary diploma like ND or HND, so it doesn’t fall under “University Education” or “National Diploma.”

2. Issuing Institution

Select:
👉 ”Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria”

Reason:
ABU administers and awards IJMB results, not your study center. Your center only prepares you for the exams; the certificate and transcript are officially issued by ABU Zaria (IJMB Board)

* The “Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB)” itself operates under ABU.
* Your result sheet or certificate likely bears ABU’s name or letterhead.

*Never select your study center (e.g., “XYZ College, Ilorin”). WES will reject that because they only verify through the official awarding institution, which is ABU Zaria

3. Who to contact for verification

Once WES reaches out for verification, ABU Zaria’s IJMB Unit handles it, not your center

1. Prepare copies of your IJMB certificate/result and any correspondence from WES.
2. Contact the IJMB Unit, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria

* Physical office: ABU Samaru Campus, Zaria.
* Department: Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) Office
3. Follow up directly via phone or email. The office is known to respond better to physical visits or direct calls than emails.
4. If you used a representative at ABU, you can engage them to track the verification request but avoid unofficial “agents.”

Extra tips

* WES usually emails ABU with a verification request and waits for them to respond.
* Processing can take 4–8 weeks depending on backlog, so follow up early.
* If ABU needs confirmation that you requested verification, WES provides a Ref. number (e.g., “WES Ref # xxxxxxx”) quote this anytime you contact them.
pls have you being able to do yours how can i contact you ..im having difficulty doing mine can anyone help
