BREAKING: Court Stops INEC From Receiving Any Petition For Recall Of Kogi Central Senator, Natasha

The Federal High court sitting at Lokoja on Thursday, 20th March, 20251 granted an interim injunction restraining INEC, its staff, agents, privies or assigns from receiving, accepting or acting on any petition containing signatures of members of Kogi Central Senatorial District and conducting any referendum upon such petition for the purpose of initiating a re-call process of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria pending the determination of the Motion on Notice to the same effect.

The court granted the application following an Ex-parte application for interim injunction supported by an Affidavit of Extreme urgency together with other court processes sworn to by Anebe Jacob Ogirima for himself and four others who are registered voters and constituents of Kogi Central Senatorial District of Kogi State.

The application was moved by Smart Nwachimere, Esq of West-Idahosa, SAN & Co.

The case has been adjourned to 6th May, 2025 for report of service and further mention.

Wike was in kalabari on a Saturday, a notice of impeachment was served to Fubara on Monday, the following day , the news of a pipe line explosion filled the air... That same evening of the explosion, a state of emergency was declared on Rivers State...The quick succession of events shows that this was all along planned and orchestrated by the 27 and their paymasters just to lay hold of Rivers state for their political intentions towards 2027 elections..
The tax collector speech was one sided..The blame game was one sided also.

Politics is indeed a dirty game most especially in Nigeria.

However, in all of these, the people of Rivers State are waiting to see what happens after the six months suspension.

What led to the demolition of the house of assembly building? What did Fubara do to them to warrant his impeachment in 2023? Anyways that's an old story now. At least both the house of assembly and the governor have been suspended and not sacked. After 6 months, a new chapter will commence. At the end both parties will work together and there will be peace in Rivers State. The governor wants peace by obeying the SC totally buy the 27 and their paymaster never wanted peace. They want trouble by going back to what they started in 2023- the impeachment process - The SC says go back and present the budget to the house of assembly. It did not say go and impeach the governor so why did the 27 decided to enact the impeachment process even when Fubara had decided to present the budget. It clearly shows an underlying factor which is the fight for 2027 supremacy. I will like to see where the pendulum will swing to after the 6 month suspension expires.

The sworn affidavit of these 27 lawmakers were it gazetted ? The above ruling is a supreme Court verdict.

If they feel the affidavit would not mean anything in the law court because from your analysis Mary odili used it on technical ground, they they should not have tried to withdraw it. Then you do not know the real issue. There was a crisis between Atiku faction and wike faction. The mistake those 27 did was to defect. Affidavit to this effect is in the open space. ZLP has a damning evidence against those 27. The case is in court. No technicality by the judiciary can solve this in favour of the 27

How will rule that? It's not possible. There are damning evidences to prove that those 27 did defect. Okacha knows,, the 27 knows that they did defect but they are just trying to muscle the judiciary. The case against the 27 brought to fore by ZLP, is the case that will sink them. The evidences ZLP has over the 27 is so damning and the funny part is that the court has accepted that ZLP should tender those evidences to court. Let's watch and see.
