Politics › Re: INEC Serves Dino Melaye Recall Notice At The Senate (Photos) by bkool7(m): 6:17pm On Sep 26, 2017 |
LegitBoy: INEC cannot successfully recall Dino unless the leadership of the Senate really wants it. There is a big lacuna on the part of our law. For example the law stipulates that the process will be conclusive if the Senate president believes "in his opinion" that there are legitimate petitions.. .. This is the end of it because the law has already put it at the discretion of the leadership of the house. Believe me this is leading nowhere. Let me show you how stupid this ur imaginary lacuna is. What if its the Senate President thats being recall? https://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/07/10-steps-recall-senator-nigeria/ The steps are: 1 More than half of the registered voters in the Senator’s senatorial district write, sign and send a petition to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC alleging their loss of confidence in the senatorial 2 The petition must be signed, and arranged according to polling units, wards, Local Government Areas, and constituency. 3 INEC notifies the Senator sought to be recalled, stating that it has received a petition for his or her recall, if the petition is valid 4 INEC issues a public notice or announcement stating the date, time and location of the verification of signatures to the petition 5 INEC verifies the signatures to the petition at the designation. The signatories must be individuals who appear on the voters’ register. 6 INEC conducts a referendum if more than one half (50% + 1) of the signatories are verified 7 INEC writes to the petitioners stating that the minimum requirements for a referendum were not met, if the number verified is less than one half of the registered voters in that constituency. The petition will therefore be dismissed. 8 INEC conducts a referendum within 90 days of receipt of the petition if the minimum requirements for a referendum are met. The referendum will be a simple yes or no vote on whether the Senator should be recalled, and will be decided by simple majority of the votes of the persons registered to vote in that Senator’s constituency. 9 If majority of the voters in the constituency vote ‘yes’ the Chairman of the INEC will send a Certificate of Recall to the Senate President to effect the recall. 10 The Senate President will show affected senator the way out of the Senate. |

Celcius: If e like, let it be all of Kogi. Publish it as the law provides. That is the law. I have never read anywhere INEC approach the court on the second option. Let's not talk too much, the National Assembly would have still flung the process out when it comes to them to verify the legitimacy of the votes. I'm sure that's why they no even pay attention. I trust them. INEC should concentrate on step to conducting conclusive elections. Thats very funny How many senators has the NA verified their election before? They relied on the intetgrity and transparency of Inec to give them certificate of return to sit in the House. Now, the law had changed ..abi? The must verify Inec's conduct before admitting its authensity |

betterABIAstate: bros, putting sentiments aside. I know where Nnamdi kanu's house is, that place doesn't lead to anywhere and I wonder what the army people were doing there. The road is not even tarred and that area is kinda not where army people will normally go to unless they want trouble.
I'm trying to be truthful here. Army no fit just pass that side. The military delibrately passed thru his house because the influx of Ipobs into Abia was alarming. Its to show Ipobs that they not should try anything they would regrect. All Ipob need to do is allow them pass peacefully. After all they initially didnt come for him |

A lot of other offences has been committed by Kanu btw when he was granted bail and when he magically dissapeared. The police have the right to arrest him for other offences he has committed. Blue3k: I agree with this point. If they did invade his house they need to explain where he is. The army denied it but they court will decide. Where is the proof that the kanu is in the Army's custody? It's the army and Ipob Terrorist. Tell me who the judge will believe Nigerian lawyers always play on gullible people's intelligence. They're preparing themselves to chop Ipob's money |

psucc: Hold another responsible for the acts of government?
Of course currently our government is irresponsible. So govt told Ipob terrorists to confront the military when they were passing peacefully. Or because Kanu was granted bail by the court and he was found commiting another crime the police will not arrest him? Kanu has commited a lot of offences after being granted bail. Those lawyers are decieving Kanu's suties |

MaziOmenuko: This was a nice approach but I have something against it.
Dangote's group income tax for 10yrs is a huge sum of money that will run into trillions. This is cheating and is going to rob the nation of huge sums on company income tax. I believe the executive should have squared it out with the legislators once and for all, maybe by approaching the supreme court to mandate the legislators to stop tampering with our budget. The national assembly is trying to usurp powers of the executives and this is bad for democracy.
Next year, they will remove another big project and we will approach Adenuga for another tax waiver or extend dangote's own to 20yrs. The executive should address the issue of national assembly adjusting the budget once and for all. The judiciary needs to put the national assembly in its rightful place now before they become a nuisance. The other day, they were mandating banks to release patience Jonathan funds which should normally be a function of the judiciary.
Let's curb it now rather than this approach which is not sustainable. Is the taxes from Dangote coming to your acct? Govt will collect the taxes snd still not do the road. Because the whole money will end up in Recurrent Expenditure. But this method is quick and benefitial to all NASS can look into it later and balance the lopesideness. But knowing those ppl, they'll only come to throw their weight around and hustle for bribe |

bot101: Igbo, Itsekiri, Ijaw, Bini, Tiv, Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, Uhrobo and most of the individual nationalities that make up Nigeria, are hundreds to thousands of years older than Nigeria. If you say they agreed to live as a nation, then they can very well decide to end the relationship someday, but if you say they were forcefully amalgamated, then you know that this nation is overripe for dissolution. Either way, staying or leaving any nation is very well negotiable.
Everyone against a call for referendum, is clearly stating in no uncertain terms, that the Nigerian nation is a great big prison, and everyone in it, prisoners.
It will save the nation bloodshed and portray it as a democracy to conduct a referendum to allow any of its constituent nations decide whether to remain a nation, or leave.
That is not rocket science. Is there any country in Africa with just one or two tribes? A country is the combition of tribes with geographical proximity. What you're saying is that each ethnic in this world should be a country |
