Many people tend to think that a country and a nation are one and the same thing, both are vastly different. A country is just an administrative political area. A nation is union of people who have managed to overcome their differences, such that they accept to be a country. Those who have so successfully managed their diversity that they have developed a strong sense of belonging for not just the country, but to each other. Most Nigerians only care about being a country, few care about being a nation. The problem with this is that a country that never becomes a nation will have internal strife, insecurity, constant in-fights and disunity. Such country will be at war with its self forever, or until it disintegrates. Nigeria is a country, but it is by no means a nation. These are three reasons why I think Nigeria never became a nation.

Religious divide :- In most nations of the world, there is one dominant religion. It could be Christian, Islam, Bhudist, Judaism etc, but the point is that majority rally round that religion, and it becomes an important pillar of unity that brings people together. In the case of Nigeria, it has two dominant religions, Christianity and Islam, diametrically opposed to each other. This has been a big promoter of disunity

Ethnic divide: In most nations of the world, there is usually one clear majority ethnic group. This usually causes the minority groups to unite over common interests, balancing the equation. Sometimes, the minority ethnic groups will even outnumber the majority ethnic group when they come together. In the case of Nigeria, the country has the three largest ethnic groups in Africa, and this has been a total disaster. All three believe they are masters of one ship, and all three have been fighting for political superiority since 1960, and the voice of the minorities have all but been drowned out. The result has been chaos, resentment, suspicion and outright disaster.

Sovereign National Conference: Despite Nigeria being divided along ethnic and religious lines, there was still a way to manage its diversity. A Sovereign National Conference where all the ethnic groups the British brought into their colonial project called Nigeria, would come together as equals to discuss the terms of their engagement, and being together. What type of government they want, what powers they are will to donate to that government, whsybthe powers of government should be, resource control, internal and external powers, internal security, monetary policy, national structure and many more. This could have paved the way for everyone to manage their resources, progress at their own pace, keep their individuality and sovereignty and attain true federalism. Such Conference is even necessary every 30 years.

This said land was own by my grandfather then my late father now we the children. the children planted palm trees in the said land for almost 15 years now after the death of my father. Last week our mother called us from the city that a particular young boy from the same village came that he owns the land. We all children came to the village on Sunday and we invited him so that he should come and explain how he owns the land,he refuse coming we all for the today Thursday our mom called us that he brought some juju to summon us the children. Surv. Ezeh further noted, "This partnership is expected to streamline land management practices and promote sustainable economic growth and development in Enugu State. Surv. Geoffrey Ndubuisi Agbo, the Publicity Secretary of the Association, emphasized the crucial contributions private practicing surveyors make to land administration. "Surveying is a serious business when it comes to land administration, and the input of surveyors in private practice cannot be overstated," he affirmed.

In response, Barr. Patrick Chimaobi Okorie, the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, expressed gratitude to the association for their visit and commitment to collaboration. He pledged to engage regularly with the association on development initiatives.
