AdvertsThe Nollywood Reporter Launches...Samuel Olatunji Appointed As Pioneering Editor by Blacpearl(op): 7:25pm On Jan 09, 2014
Something new is coming to town. Something different, unique and juicy! No, it’s not your favourite smoothie, it’s even better. It is TheNollywoodReporter.com (TNR). Get ready to be blown away with every inside detail Nollywood has to offer. From high-flying interviews to behind-the-scene gist, The Nollywood Reporter will be inundating you with exclusive content in and around Nigeria’s film industry. The website has been simply crafted to suit all types of browsers and devices so you can easily reach all of that real juicy Nollywood stuff you’ve been craving.
TNR can be accessed via www.thenollywoodreporter.com on a daily basis, and it will have an all-gloss, all-colour quarterly periodical in the mode of Thisday Style. The website will be launched tomorrow Friday, January 10, 2014.

Speaking on the new initiative, Samuel Olatunji who the consulting Editor-in-Chief (EIC) said TNR is an idea whose time has come. ‘Seriously, Nollywood deserves more than what it got. What we have so far is commendable but being the second largest in the world should enjoy premium attention, depth, fact and treated as serious business that it is. Almost every Nigerian has a surface idea of Nollywood. TNR is here to change all of that. The West African movie industry which is arguably the second largest in the world has more depth than most critics make it appear! Most blogs and online platforms in Nigeria are synonymous to general news, music and unfounded gossip. With most websites today, many just sit and expect ‘the usual’ characterized with treated promo photos. Little or no attention is given to major players other than the A-list actors except when there’s some scandal or a fashion flop. But in reality there’s more to Nigeria’s world of movies than meets the eye. TheNollywoodReporter.com has been crafted to bring to you the real deal in fine detail. It will combine classical tabloid style with simple style of writing and hold the ideals of journalism close to heart. It is a new dawn for Nollywood’.

TNR is a media platform poised to entertain and inform movie buffs, critics and fans with real time news at the click of a mouse. It is owned by media and management company Prestige Platform and has a lean team dedicated to giving the very best of Nollywood content that can’t be found anywhere else.
PoliticsA Special Message From The Minister Of Works by Blacpearl(op): 7:11pm On Dec 24, 2013
Oftentimes, been in a position of authority comes with its own set of challenges. A good example is the bureaucracy that shields leaders from realities on ground. Most times, a minister’s aide(s) might not be his best means of touching base. Hearing directly from the people, without exposing oneself to unnecessary distractions, is the sure way to see and feel what is going on.
I want to hear directly from road users and patriotic Nigerians who desire to join hands with us to make our FEDERAL ROADS better than they are at present. I have created an email account (feedbackmow@gmail.com) through which you can reach me directly to lay your complaints ,proffer suggestions or inform me on just about anything to do with FEDERAL ROADS. However, I will need the following favours:
A. Is there a federal road that needs urgent attention?
B. We have done some roads. Are they okay by you? (photographs attached)
C. Are any of our contractors not living up to their responsibilities on the job?
D. In what way do you think we can further improve and maintain the state federal roads in Nigeria?
E. Kindly let us know any federal road we should be preparing to pay attention to that is not already on our list.

I have received a number of awards, commendations and pats on the back for supposedly ‘a job welldone’. I appreciate all of that but I am not swayed, deceived or disillusioned to believe that all is well with federal roads all over Nigeria. In as much as any government (or minister, for that matter) cannot fix all Nigerian roads, I believe we can do our utmost best with the resources available to make life better, make a mark and be able to say before God and man that we did our best.
I believe more than anything that qualitative change is possible if the leaders and the led are committed to it. I believe more than anything that qualitative change is possible if the leaders and the led are committed to it.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Mike Onolememen
Hon. Minister of Works.

The Lyrics

MAKE .A. MOVE

By Ivie Okujaye

Verse 1

In my head I am dying, don’t tell me I'm not trying

He looked at my broken soul and kept on laughing

The air’s gone my lungs feel like they are drowning

I did my best but you left me-e hanging

When you left my whole world came down crashing

Tryna stay strong but within I'm crying

Tryna stay safe from the evil that's hunting me-

Chorus

-I know I will Make a Move

I will fight for you, I will see you through

I will Make a Move, I will fight for you

I will see you through

I will make, make, make, Make a Move!

Verse 2

Behind closed doors no one ever knows

What he puts you through

Staring at the ceiling night after night

And the one who was put on this earth to protect you

Turns a blind eye to what happens

All because she doesn't wanna be alone

All because she doesn't wanna be without a man

So she sleeps at night with her ears shut tight

So she doesn't have to hear her baby girl

Screaming, “Mama Please help me-”

CHORUS

-I know I will Make a Move

I will fight for you, I will see you through

I will make a move, I will fight for you

I will see you through

I will make, make, make, Make a Move!

BRIDGE

And when this is all over, I’ll take you to the other side

Where dreams come true and the mood’s not blue

And the people are kind to you...

But little girl it’s not over, you gotta try to stay alive

Because I’ll come for you, we’ll make it through

And the world will see the truth...

Make a Move.....

Fight for you.....

See you through....

I will Make a Move, I will fight for you

I will see you through

I will make, make, make, Make a Move.

Just Make a Move, I’ll fight for you

Just Make a Move, I’ll see you through

Just Make a Move, I’m right by you

Just make a Move right now...

CelebritiesRe: Meet Nollywood Home Breakers Who Found Love by Blacpearl(op): 8:32am On Oct 05, 2013
@Rosyl, Loool. The list is just a few out of many.
CelebritiesMeet Nollywood Home Breakers Who Found Love by Blacpearl(op): 11:26pm On Oct 04, 2013
The title of this piece is so ironic that it surely elicits mirthless laughter from you, our dear readers. Unlike what the Yorubas will readily tell you that, 'The whip used for the older wife is hanging on the doorpost to be used on the new wife,' a lot of our career Nollywood home breakers have gone on to find love with the men they succeeded in snatching from their 'rightful owners.'

This piece follows the marriages of top Nollywood actresses who 'took over' other women's men, and are enjoying the fruits of matrimony.

LOLA ALAO

Often described as the leader of Yoruba actresses that date married men, and even acts as a love-vendor for them, Lola Alao has had more than her fair share of marriage scandals. The actress got married for the second time recently to one Wale Ajibola Yakubu, who is reported to be an ex-convict after serving time in a Kuwait jail for credit card fraud. She has had a string of unfruitful affairs with married men, and it is alleged that it was Lola who linked other actresses to the treasurer of the Lagos branch of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), MC Oluomo.

It should also be recalled that Bisi Ibidapo Obe, who has a baby for Hon. Dino Melaye, fingered Lola as the person who introduced them to each other and also engineered their break-up as she claimed that Lola was also dating Melaye at the time. Described by her ex-husband, Dare Ogunlana, as a woman who would bring ruin to any man she marries, Lola was once rumoured to be dating a certain Biodun Bodunrin, Holland-based Nigerian who is married with kids.

Though she came out to refute the claim, she was also said to have had a thing with Gbenga Bankole, popularly called Gbenga Astoria, of the Astoria Catering World. Gathered that Lola's marriage to Wale is water-tight at the moment; partly because she sacrificed a lot to ensure that the marriage came to pass. It is common knowledge that Lola has always lusted after the ‘green card’ and Wale, ex-convict or not, is the answer to her prayers as he is an American citizen.

INI EDO

'Ini Edo is beautiful and curvy,' must be the understatement of the century. The dark-skinned Akwa Ibom-born thespian has made her mark in the Nigerian movie industry, and her beauty rarely goes unnoticed. However, the dimple cheeked actress has a side of her that is not so elegant. Classed among the actresses that have become the nightmare of many married couples, the fear of Ini Edo seemed to be the beginning of wisdom for many married ladies.

Ini got married to Philips Ehiagwina, an America-based Nigerian in 2008, and the marriage is still together, even though they have no off springs between them. Ini reportedly began dating Phillips when he was still married to fellow actress, Ruth Okoro, and this ultimately resulted in Philips divorcing Ruth who had sacrificed so much for him. Despite a thick cloud of bad rumours always hanging over their marriage, Ini and Phillip still seem to be happily married and in love.

BUKKY WRIGHT

Christened Oluwabukola Ajoke Asake Wright at birth, her beautiful looks have attracted her sustained attention from men of different walks of life. Bukky Wright has been the architect of many controversies with married men in the industry and outside. The actress has been linked to married men like Corporate Pictures boss, Alhaji Abdulrazak Abdullahi; Rotimi Makinde and Bolaji Basia. She was involved in a messy media fight with Basia when their union broke up, with Bolaji accusing her of lesbianism and fetish acts.

She got married to US big boy, Adewale Onitiri, in 2011, and she seems to have relocated to America to be close to her husband, who was reported to have banned her from acting. Wale, who studied at the University of East Texas, lost his late wife, Adebisi, to the dreaded cancer disease. There are no cracks on the wall of her marriage as she seems to be having the best of times with Wale.

STELLA DAMASUS

There is no contesting the fact that Stella Damasus is a pretty lady; it is also without a doubt, that she is one actress who has a lot of controversies trailing her. Stella first got married to Jaiye Aboderin who passed away in 2004 of a heart attack while he was playing basketball.

Not long after Jaiye's death, Stella met and fell in love with Emeka Nzeribe, though their relationship didn't last for long. However, Stella was in the news for the wrong reasons earlier in the year when she was rumoured to have gotten married to Doris Simeon's estranged hubby, Daniel Adenimokan.

Though the couple has not come out to categorically deny or confirm their relationship, it is common knowledge that members of the public blame Stella for gate-crashing Doris' union. Even though, Daniel's relationship with Doris had started developing cracks when he met Stella, many people believe that Stella has a hand in the hitherto lovely's couple's marital woes. The couple are still living happily together for now, with Stella Damasus regularly dispensing advice on love, sex and marriage.

FOLUKE DARAMOLA

Her marriage to Kayode Salako in February this year generated so much controversy that it provided fodder for journalists many weeks on end. Kayode was hitherto married to Bukola Salako who bore him three sons, before Foluke Daramola stepped into the picture.

This was amidst revelations made by journalist, Bukola Fasuyi, who introduced the duo, that Foluke, who has been married once before, used 'juju' to get Kayode to marry her.

However, Kayode, who is the coordinator of “Fasholamania,” debunked the claims, stating that he consulted numerous clerics before marrying Foluke. Kayode declared that if he was to do it over again, he would still go for Foluke as she is the apple of his eyes.

 IRETI OSAYEMI

Thick-set Ireti Osayemi is the wife of actor and movie director, Bankole Adeoye popularly called Bakky Adeoye. When she began dating him, he had a dutiful wife who bore him two sons. Ireti had her first child for Bakky in November 2007, before getting married in 2008. She also had a second child for him in 2009. Her marriage is currently on solid ground.
