Business / Re: What exactly Is The Benefit Of Floating The Naira? by blaise26abj(m): 9:45am On Feb 14
ckc:
Based on the catastrophe this floating of naira of a thing by Tinubu is causing to the economy, can anyone please educate me on the ONE benefit of this policy. I want to learn.

I am sure people have done justice to the benefit . However the issue with Tinubu’s policy is that he didn’t do it with our insatiable appetite for foreign goods in mind . The demand for dollars to import is too much . Also the prevalent corruption in our banking sector and CBN as well.
What he should have done was ban parallel markets . Also make it that You can’t deposit more than 1,000 dollars physically in Nigeria into your domicilary account in a month any thing else should be at CBN with EFCC present . All earned dollars in your Dom account can only be withdrawn in Naira . Lastly after everything has stabilized , let Naira cards transact online with a cap and inability to withdraw dollars abroad .

abhosts:
Who exactly is benefiting from an ever falling Naira? What kind of cruelty is this? In 2019, a friend of mine based in the US invested $200,000(N72,000,000 at that time) into Nigerian real estate. Now his investment is valued at about N200,000,000($135,000). Despite the fact that his naira investment tripled in value, it was still not worth it from a dollar perspective. He is now regretting his decision because he would have been better off just leaving his $200k in the bank when you consider it is now worth 32 percent less. This is an example of foreign investor they claim to be courting.

The only way it will make sense is if he doesn’t take back the money and uses it for rent or shortlet for now . For other foreign investors , it is sad reality . The market is there , but the moment you want to change your investment into dollars , you are in trouble .

The Nigerian market is doing well . Our major problem is our cravings for imported materials . If you deal in naira only or produce something locally without or with little need for fx, you will sell tire .

Romance / Re: Straight Talk: Just For Men : Advice Women On Anything by blaise26abj(m): 3:16pm On Jan 31
axglide:
Women should avoid men that ask them what do they bring to the table. Every man’s responsibility is to provide.

1 Tim 5:8 - “ But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”

The secret is coming to Christ Jesus early, seeking first the kingdom and then every other thing shall be added unto you.

Do you know to provide is not really a big thing for a responsible man ?! It is the greed and unreasonable demands of a woman that makes it seem he cannot provide .

My advice is women should try to understand their husbands/boyfriends outside of their biases . Have a mind not easily swayed by social media nonsense or what people say men are . Know him for what he is and what he stands for . Do this and it will be easy to give him peace via respect .

Boko haram members ( killed and raped so many people ) - repentant to Buhari

Bandits - amnesty by Buhari

Islamic terrorists - forgiven by Buhari

( anyone comparing them to Niger Delta militants is a terrorist !)

This is what you get when you vote in people with low IQ .

If you like don’t go and buy gun in Nigeria . Someone will kill you and government will forgive that person as long as he is from a part of the country .

Better to die defending yourself than die like a rat to these criminals encouraged by the state .

Nigeria already has a relatively high rate of gun violence, fueled by factors like armed robbery, cult clashes, insurgency, etc.

While self defense is important, legalizing guns could potentially increase the pool of firearms available to criminal elements and individuals with malicious intent.

Look , it is better to seek guns to protect your family and properties than for people to harass you because they have a locally made pistol . BUY A GUN . Legally or illegally ! DO it .

Let me tell you that it is easy to get a gun in Nigeria . Even security agents will help you get it illegally . As long as you don’t have criminal intent , GET it .

Places in the west have the structures to protect, to serve and investigate diligently . Nigeria DOES not . ARM yourself . That man whose daughters were kidnapped and one killed will very much get a gun .

Politics / Re: CBN Moves Departments To Lagos State by blaise26abj(m): 11:16pm On Jan 13
Yankee101:

CBN has 36 major offices all of which can accommodate a large number of staff besides other operational buildings and staffing quarters. They control AMCON and other related entities with large half empty buildings in Abuja too.

In the federal civil service you don’t make money by salary, you make money from allowances on travel, estacode, outside posting etc. The federal government moved federal operations from Lagos to abuja decades ago primarily due to congestion

All the banks also have major regional offices in Abuja, Infact Jaiz bank has its head office in Abuja, keystone as phb had its head office in kaduna, so the movement has nothing to do with proximity but to reduce their power and allowances. You can audit any major Nigerian bank from Zamfara, Sokoto or Oyo, it doesn’t matter, once you have a branch connected to their server. Banking supervision is the most powerful unit in the CBN because they control all the banks. Their Director is also the most powerful after the CBN head. That’s why you still hear voices like Moghalu in the public space as loud as Soludo or Sanusi.. You move them out, you move their Director out too, you cut their income down, you clip their wings and keep them away from Abuja where all the political power is. I didn’t want to have to do a long explanation cos I was expecting a lot of people know these already but apparently not

So you are saying it is a power play move to clip the wings of the banking supervision department . If that is the case then that is their internal problem/politics ! In a nutshell , they can do whatever they like to themselves internally . After all the ex governor was a major player in ruining our economy and NONE of the directors did anything to stop him .

Thanks for explaining the dynamics though .

So you think the CBN has only one building? Or can’t pick up another building within Abuja? The CBN is one of the largest property owners in nigeria

If they pick one up now , people will say they are wasting resources when they have sparsely populated offices in the state . If the management decides to send some of the staff there , good ! Nigeria saves money instead of acquiring a new building

Nowhere did I imply they have only one building. That particular building is congested . That’s my point .

If you run hotels and air bnb , this must be your greatest fear . I believe it should be a good business practice to ocassionally “see” and familiarize yourself with the nearest police station . Install good cctv cameras and be quick to report to the police if such should happen. God help us all especially with the new way Nigerians are superstitious . Clearing your name quickly is very important for reputation and business .

By the way don’t people die in big hotels ? Sheraton, hiltons etc ? Do they even make the news ?

They’ll mess this one up
With online banking you don’t have to go to a head office to do audit
Infact most of your audits are either printouts you can get from ANY branch of the bank in the country or hard copies generated mostly from online transactions

What about the safety concerns ? The building was designed specifically for a number of people . It has been exceeded . It is very dangerous to overload a structure like that .

Lastly it is majorly big men pikins in CBN . Their parents get money to facilitate the move talk less of the money people make in CBN .
