The thing pain me wella. I intend to resign soon.

It more painful, cos someone in the management who picked a liking for me when i applied to work there was eyeing me when i mentioned the amount.

Atimes when you are really good at your job with little pay, you might become detached from what you SHOULD be getting for the job you do . It is like coming out of an abusive environment .

A little research is good before interview . Someone dear to me asked for almost times 3 of what her former employer was paying her and the new organization quickly agreed . All because she researched the company before hand

With the deed already done , do your probation period and ask for an increase once they have seen what you can do .

PS- the company too no try . Their HR department needs to be flogged . There are industry standards that should be followed . You can’t pay someone such and expect them not to find out later and it always leads to job dissatisfaction and most times resignation thereby wasting the company’s time and resources. Stop ASKING stupid questions about how much they want to be paid !. Pay people fairly based on company and industry salary standard for those positions !

Conflict of interest is at play here. Inside Job contract, by the way ,are u aware of this job proposition or a slight peek. Who told you a common man like me is not interested in this kind of contract provided it is Legitimate. If you think there is nothing wrong for a sitting Minister in a govt to deep his hand in a dirty scandal like this, so be it. We see things from different angle.

It was a consultancy job , his company was taken alongside many others . I can’t say he didn’t influence it . Also conflict of interest arises if the company gets jobs in his own ministry . Just like Obi and the brewery saga. ( all politicians are the same )

Almunjid:

It's very painful especially if you're not involved. Just like other countries believed that Nigerians are criminals. Once u tell anyone that you're a Nigerian, they'll start looking at u as a criminal. But do we keep fighting them for talking about the obvious truth because we're not all into crimes or we need to work on ourselves and our bad reputation?

We keep seeing a particular tribe being guilty of drug dealing, child trafficking, fake products etc. What are the people from that tribe doing to reduce or climb down on these crimes? I didn't see anything much being done about it in their region. They talk less about it, cos it's normal to them. Many of them do not believe in legit hustle and this is dragging them and our beloved country into disrepute and if u talk about it, they'll say u hate their tribe.

In addition, Nairalanders mock Islam, Prophet Muhammad and Muslims here every day, no one reported this platform for islamophobia. The owner of this forum on his own discovered that Muslims hardly insult Jesus or litter Christian threads with insults and then decided to reduce it by putting oath in Muslim threads. Despite that, many Nairalanders flood Muslim threads, proclaim faith and sha'hadah just to have the opportunity to mock and ridiculed Muslims and their beliefs.

We (Muslims) won't report this Forum for islamophobia because of what some unscrupulous elements are saying about Islam, even though I know that some Muslims are giving us out to be ridiculed, I know it's not Seun's fault and he does not in anyway support their actions. I'd rather clarify their misconceptions about Islam and take note of some salient points raised regarding our misactions as Muslims and then talk my fellow Muslims out of it with wisdom.

Some people enjoy making fun of others, but they themselves can't take or endure it.

Peace!

Then I think access to the Islam section should be locked to each account’s religion . If you are not a Muslim , you can’t see the Muslim section and vice versa . Same way if you are not logged in , you can’t access the sexuality session .

He's my parents last child, he's 19 now. I feel he was born gay because right from when he was a child, he acts like a woman. He'll prefer to play with dolls, he'll tie wrapper all the time, we felt this was just a small kid thing and that he was going to change when he's all grown. Unfortunately for us, i think he's gay now completely. I'm just devasted right now really don't know how to go about this.

I returned home for Christmas last year i couldn't believe what i saw my brother doing. I have had a discussion with my parents we really don't know what to do right now.

Any advice in the right direction will help please. Thank you.

There are effeminate guys and there are outright gays. If your brother is effeminate , try speak with him and take him for manly events . Confirm he doesn’t prefer men .
If he is outright gay , check if he was molested as a kid and you all didn’t notice . Take him for therapy In that case. If he wasn’t , then you can only pray . Because an adult is hard to change unless he decides to change by himself or God intervenes

Sports / Re: Argentina To Honor Messi After Retirement By Retiring No. 10 Jersey. by blaise26abj(m): 11:02pm On Jan 03
robosky02:

Whenever Lionel Messi retires from the Argentina national team, Argentine Football Association president Claudio Tapia said he intends to make sure no player ever wears the No. 10 shirt again for the Albiceleste.

“When Messi retires from the national team, we will not allow anyone else to wear the number 10 after him,” Tapia said at a press conference over the weekend. “This number 10 will be retired for life in his honor. It’s the least we can do for him.”

Though retiring jersey numbers at the club level is fairly normal, it’s less common in the international game — and for good reason.

FIFA regulations require players to wear all numbers from one to 23 during official competitions. In other words, if Argentina is committed to retiring the No. 10, then it would have to play every tournament after Messi’s retirement missing one player on the roster.

There’s also the question of whether the most iconic jersey number in the game really belongs to any single player — even one as great as Messi.

Diego Maradona made the No. 10 shirt iconic with Argentina, and subsequent playmakers like Juan Román Riquelme followed in his footsteps until Messi made the number his own. If post-Maradona players could aspire to become Argentina’s No. 10, why couldn’t post-Messi players do the same?

Argentina actually attempted to retire the No. 10 shirt in Maradona’s honor more than 20 years ago, a request that was rejected by FIFA. It’s hard to imagine this time around will be any different.

Messi cemented his status as an Argentine legend in 2022, winning the World Cup to go along with the Copa América title he won the previous year. Though he’ll turn 37 this year, Messi is still very much central to the Argentina national team’s plans at the current moment.

Last month, the Inter Miami star said he was taking his national team career day by day and though he’s not closing the door on another World Cup in 2026, he is only focused on the 2024 Copa América in the United States.

After previously claiming the 2022 World Cup would be his last, though, Messi is now pushing for 2026 and a sixth World Cup appearance.

“I’m going to arrive at an age that I normally wouldn’t be able to play in the World Cup. I said that I don’t think I’m going to be there,” he told Star+. “It seemed that after the World Cup I was retiring and quite the opposite — now I want to be there more than ever.”

https://prosoccerwire.usatoday.com/2024/01/02/messi-argentina-retire-number-10-jersey/

Of course FIFA will grant it . Infact FIFA will retire number 10 from football forever . Besides why won’t he aspire to play in the 2026 World Cup when his biatch called FIFA is still in charge . No sane person will let the opportunity slide

Oloshi!

These people have analogue brains . Most of them can’t comprehend atlot except the game of partisan politics . There are POS merchants serving like banks . They need cash to be in business . They use Naira to make Naira. They will definitely hoard . People in highly liquid businesses hoard cash for that . Also politicians keep stolen money ( even dollars) so they can share when the need arise . Go to parties , that’s where you get to see mints . They bought it at a higher price and sell to others at a profit ! BDCs need huge Naira in order to be ready to buy any dollar that is available .

Most business people operate without physical cash . I can’t remember the last time I handled 50k cash .
No amount of presidential executive orders will change that.

Fellow Nairalanders,

I'm pleased to wish you a Happy New Year!!

2024 will be the year of Nairaland's resurgence. I will face Nairaland squarely like I used to before the discouraging Data Loss Incident of 2014. I will hire more hands to help us to improve Nairaland.

The problems of Nairaland that we should have solved years ago will be solved.

* We will defeat tribalists, trolls, & spammers.
* We will complete our advertising platform.
* We will improve the UI and UX.
* Home page topics will be educative & fresh.
* We will reverse the anti-women trends.

However, I must warn you that things will get worse before they get better. Please stand with us and fight for us as Nairaland faces the tough challenges of 2024, which have already started.

Happy New Year and thanks for using Nairaland!

A lot of your mentality and many other Nigerians aren’t different from animals. That’s why our society is like this.
Why do we adore Mandela and Ghandi to this day? There is what is regarded as civil character. When Saul died David mourned extraordinarily. Mark Anthony eulogized Brutus after he saw their end. Ceaser too eulogized Pompei. These are civil character and human values you are supposed to acquire in schools. These are the real reason why we go to school so that we form the proper mindset and attitude. These are what they teach us in church (or maybe you are not a Christian).

Like I said you are just being sentimental . Even your opening statement is a direct opposite of what you claim to preach .

All the historical people you wrote up there are just to whip up unnecessary sentiments again . I will not engage you on that . Even the David you wrote about , read about his atrocities in war, love and family .

Your type are always quick to insult Nigerians because of your myopic and biased mentality . You falsely believe you have attained a state of morality hence become a self appointed moral policeman. Even the almighty US is way more morally bankrupt than Nigerians .
