A 400-level medical student of Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, in Delta State, has been arrested by the police for allegedly hacking into Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s phone. The student, who failed in pharmacology and pathology course sent a text message, purportedly from the governor, to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Eric Arubayi, requesting him to upgrade his scores. It was gathered that enraged Govenor Uduaghan asked the vice chancellor to report the matter to the police and ensure the student was arrested when the matter was brought to his knowledge, as he never sent such message. The affected student in a statement to the police, however, denied the allegation. Investigation showed that the matter was causing ripples in the university, as the university authorities, apparently responding to the request, upgraded the score of the student in pharmacology. The poser by concerned stakeholders is: Assuming, but not conceding that the text message emanated from the governor, should the vice chancellor have altered the scores of a student that failed his examination?” This is, however, not the first time the governor’s phone had been hacked into by fraudsters. They had hacked into his Airtel and MTN phone numbers in the past as well as his email address. The first text message to the vice chancellor on July 24 reads: “My able VC, Chief Tony Anenih called me in respect of one boy that just wrote pathology and pharmacology exam in 400 level Medicine. My able Prof, I want you to ensure that boy passes, you know I cannot afford to disappoint Chief Tony Anenih. Am in a meeting. These are the details. CHS/04/05/88406.” Thinking that the text message was actually from the governor, as it came from the number with which he saved the governor’s name, Uduaghan 1 in his phone, Prof Arubayi replied, asking for the student’s name to which the hacker replied: “His name is Imala W. Kelly. My able VC, all I want is the boy to pass. Chief Tony Anenih has been calling.” DELSU vice chancellor, Prof Arubayi, confirmed in his office, Monday, that he, in fact, received the said text message and contacted the governor after the scores of students who scored between 48-49 in pharmacology was upgraded to 50 based on standing regulation of the university, “but he denied ever sending me such a text message.” He said the Academic Board of the College of Health Sciences had met and approved the scores in pathology, which the student scored 46, and there was nothing that could be done about it, other than for the affected person to go for a resit, adding: “That is what I advised the governor.” Prof Arubayi said it was the Provost of the College of Sciences, Dr. John Ohaju-Obodo, that drew his attention about a week after that a text message, purportedly from the governor, appointing him chairman of a juicy government committee was received by him, but when he contacted the governor, he told him it was a scam. He said he wasted no time when he confirmed the truth from the governor in summoning the student and handing him over to the police for cyber crime. “I am even surprised that the police have not charged him to court, as far as I am concerned, this is an EFCC case,” he said. He said the student was currently facing a disciplinary panel for breach of matriculation oath, but lamented that he had not appeared before the panel. A university source said the student had been suspended, but as at Monday, he was seen attending lectures and had refused to vacate his room despite orders to that effect from the authorities. Prof Arubayi laughed when told that he was being accused of examination malpractice, saying, “Did the student give me money to change his scores or is he a girl to say that she is my girlfriend, what was done was based on the regulation of the school,” Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Chukwuemeka Peter Aloamaka and provost, Dr Ohaju –Obodo has said that no unilateral decision was taken by the vice chancellor, as the appropriate organ looked into the matter before upgrading the scores of five to six students based on the institution’s regulation. shouldn't the VC step down ? |
Gone are those days when I used to type Okpekpe in google just to get some info about my people, now the name Okpekpe is now becoming a household name not just because of the forthcoming International Okpekpe road race but because of landmark achievements by Okpekpe sons and daughters all over the world. Growing up I used to tell peeps I was from Auchi just to cut the chase and save me the stress of having to spend the next 10mins convincing them that there is a actually a place called okpekpe. Currently according to Wilkipedia Okpekpe has a population of just 3155 people, how they came about this meagre figure we don't know , u can't really blame them because according to the great Chinua Achebe not until the Lion has its own historian the story of the hunt will always glorify the hunter... To this end Letz all meet here to brainstorm and rewrite our history ourselves. Invio okpekpe vba moo! ℓ☺ℓ! |

kallowdean: My dear Nairalanders,These 3 paragraphs are confusing sha! 1st u dnt knw where u 've gone wrong , then u admit in †ђξ 2nd that they didn't explain to u why they took †ђξ action, then in the last paragraph u assumed itz bcoz u shared it with fellow NL that u are being punished. So sorry abt what happened, While most peeps here perceive U as being too cocky at times what everybody cannot deny is the fact that u have been very resourceful on this thread... I don't doubt the fact that there cud be a mole on this thread, But apparently from what u said they didn't tell u why they took their action, u just put 1&2 together and tot it cud be coz of an information u divulged here, I have followed ur posts here for sometime now and I don't think u ever gave out any info dat cud compromise them, Posting about what to wear and other things to expect in TS is not enough for them to post u to anoda unit...Possibly it was done for mgt convenience reasons not what u think... Just relax bro! Don't feel bad abt it, It could be a blessing in disguise. All the best |

“Offering time, blessing time!” So goes the chorus from members of the congregation whenever it’s time to give offering in most churches. To most Christians, the offering time is, indeed, a time of immense financial blessing. But recently, the offering time turned into a moment of hot curses in a Lagos church when an already used condom, dripping with semen, was discovered inside the offering box after the Sunday service. It was like a weird dream, according to the former Chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Ogba Zone, Prophet Tobi Okonkwo, who witnessed the incident. The cleric said he couldn’t believe his eyes when a discarded condom, with stains, was discovered in an envelope in the offertory box of his former church. When Pope Paul VI warned on June 29, 1972 that the smoke of Satan had entered the church, not many Christians took the warning seriously. With this recent incident, Okonkwo admitted that the agents of darkness had infiltrated the churches in large numbers and now occupy high-ranking positions in the gathering of God’s children, where they wreak untold havoc on the unwary flock. Okonkwo, who is also the General Overseer of Living Word Prayer Assembly, Agege, Lagos, wept over man’s ingratitude to God during a recent monthly thanksgiving programme of the church, tagged Manna from Heaven. Although the service was a joyful moment where the shepherd distributes food items and other gifts to his flock, his startling revelation brought a hush of silence on the congregation. His words pierced the hearts of the worshippers, as he explained how man had become ungrateful to divine benevolence. His several instances of the atrocities committed in hallowed places pointed to the fact that messengers from hell now walked about freely in hallowed places. “It is really bad. It has got to a point where some people come to the church to mock God. They are anti-Christ but they still go to church. You could imagine how somebody came to the church and decided to give a used condom in an envelope to God. You can see how wicked man has become,” he said. Okonkwo said the giver of the abominable gift refused to confess his crime, even when the entire church rained curses profusely on whosoever was responsible. He said, “A curse was laid on the person. Even before the people laid the curse, God had already seen the abomination committed in his house by someone, who pretended he came to the church to worship God.” The former PFN leader warned other members of the church of the reality of the anti-Christ, whose reign would usher ungodliness in the world. He lamented that prosperity message has taken over the pulpit at the neglect of the gospel of repentance, which had enslaved many hearts in pleasure and love of the world. According to him, most Christians hunger for sermons that promise easy wealth, while rejecting teachings that encourage chastity, discipline, endurance and faithfulness. “The style of the anti-Christ is to mock Jesus. Many Christians today are crucifying Christ a second time. It’s really sad and unfortunate,” he said. The cleric decried the approval of same sex marriage by different countries, describing the constitutional recognition accorded to such couples as an indication of the reign of anti-Christ in the world.
