This exactly is the issue with this bill. A good sndnprogeess8ve idea being pushed by a criminal will always be fraught with suspicion

The bill is fantastic but because it is being pushed by a looter criminal in Tinubu, it will suffer abortion. As it is, he will not win any election in the North easily.

Bizaustine:
Good reforms die in the hands of mere political figures who do not place delivering good governance as top priority.

The disaster and massive failure We have for president has already wrecked his image. Aside his Apc online zombies in reality people hustling on the streets of Nigeria know how he has messed the Country up in such a very short period of time.

If You try inform the average Northerner on the benefits of the reform, they go tell you se all them know na Tinubu na barawo.

Alleged N1.5bn fraud: Pastor Bolaji Idowu breaks silence, addresses allegations

The Lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre (HICC), Pastor Bolaji Idowu, has spoken out regarding allegations of his involvement in real estate fraud and money laundering.

Some media platforms (Not Tribune) reported on Tuesday that the cleric was in police custody for questioning over a fraud case involving N1.5 billion.

Responding to the allegations during his Next Level online prayer session on Wednesday, Pastor Idowu maintained his innocence regarding the claims.

He denied any involvement in real estate transactions, stating that he neither owns nor deals in properties.

Also, he refuted claims of receiving large sums of money, specifically billions of naira, into his accounts.

While refraining from addressing the allegations in detail, Pastor Idowu expressed gratitude to his congregations for their unwavering support.

In his words, “Over the last 24 hours, there’s been a lot of news about me on social media, about this and about that.

“I just want to state some facts clearly. I heard that number one, I was involved in real estate. I do not and anyone that has contrary evidence can produce it.

“I do not have any property in Nigeria. The only property I have in Nigeria was one that my late parents bequeathed to me. There is no property that I have bought or have in Nigeria.

“Secondly, I do not sell or buy properties. I am not in that business. Someone said I received billions into my account. My accounts are public accounts, you can go and check if I have ever received billions into my account.

“There are just a lot of things ongoing in the press but this is not a forum to address it. I want to thank all of you that showed a lot of love. Thank you for doing that.“

PoliticsRe: What Dele Farotimi Wrote About Afe Babalola by Blazetrailer: 3:40pm On Dec 04, 2024
When you get depraved of basic human thinking capacity and you have been long exposed to tyranny and oppression in the guise of governance asnpractices in a jungle like Nigeria, you begin to think like the poster below.

The question to test his sanity is to ask the poster why Farotimi needs to be denied a bail for the case to be accelerated at the court?

Whatever happened to granting him bail on a bailable offence to preserve his fundamental human rights as enshrined in the constitution where he is not a danger to the society, his bail is inimical and inljuroius to anyones rights or a threat to the furtherance of the case in court or has ever had a history of jumping bail in the past. Especially if he is willing to prove his case in court. Such a case can be accelerated in court but you cant justify denying him a bail except on the conditions I have stated above.

Only demented people not exposed to civilisation will ask that a fellow person be denied a bail just because theyvwant tobhear the case in court.

Bovis:
Wow, so this Dele guy bleeped up this much, I thought it was just a case of minor defamation but the allegations of bribing judges is criminal defamation not civil

These are serious allegations that can lead to reputational damages of those involved and a judicial review of all the cases

He ought to be denied bail and charged to court asap for him to present all his evidence to the world

PoliticsRe: Tinubu Is Gradually Losing The Support Of The Northerners by Blazetrailer: 2:54am On Dec 04, 2024
Logical.

In my view though and as much as I despise the idea, Atiku has the best chances of defeating Tinubu. And a combination of him and Obi will be a monumental trajection towards victory.

In addition, only a party that is well known and nationally established structurally will be the best platform to defeat the APC. Any merger of parties now will be too late. That leaves PDP or LP and between them PDP is the more established.

Further, If PDP can get its acts together, given the growing opposition and loss of popularity of Tinubu in the North increasingly high disenchantment in the south west amidst perceived poor performance by the President which could lead to voter apathy during the next election, and permanent suspicion in both SE/SS, I see Tinubu becoming a one term president.

In my view, I think he lost it with the poor implementation of those reforms especially the devaluation of Naira and failure to curb unnecessary government spending/profligacy while asking citizens to endure hardship as a sacrifice

nairalanda1:
North did not support tinubu massively...infact, Atiku would have won the election of 2023, if not for Obi taking away votes in the SE, and Kano going to the NNPP, which enabled tinubu to eke out a small victory.

Also, Tinubu only got one of the K states, Kaduna...narrowly. Kano went to NNPP, and Katsina went to PDP. Infact PDP picked up Northern states that in 2019 it should have not taken

Also, in 2019, APC won the vote with 19 million. In 2023, APC only took 8.5 million votes.

What we are seeing is a fall in APC votes that is ongoing. At the end, in 2027, APC would probably lose badly.

The question is whether PDP can stay united enough, and whether Atiku can resist the temptation to run again. Also, Obi and co have to return to PDP.

MY saying that Burkina Faso is in a mess does not mean I believe Nigeria is running a great economy.

Infact, what we are seeing in Nigeria is similar to Burkina. Decades of resource dependency, with revenue from a resource being used to prop up the economy for long, now failing because the country has never been a actual producer economy.

Of course, the result is the same.

Most African countries are in the same ship.

Daft....see his stupid response devoid of facts, statistics and logic, just pure assumptions and illusions.

Get the best of governance system here, if the institutions to curb the excesses of the politicians are weak, results will still be the same.

How come people of the countries I highlighted to you are enjoying super life without local government automomy? Something must tell you that it is the people that make the government and not the government that make the people.

Get local government autonomy with the thieves you have now as politicians, it will still be failure upon failures.

Oponu.

BondRiv:
Here you go rambling again. Your gibberish is of no consequence, but I owe it to myself to teach people like you.

Whether you like it or not, if the LGAs are not autonomous, meaningful progress cannot be made in this country. The LGAs are the base and development must go from bottom to the up, else you will keep running in circles. People fit into the structure in a place. A strong institution is also a structure. Who is the visionary leader you want to put in this current local government structure that will transform it? Either you have totally lost touch with reality or do not understand the problem at hand. One thing I'm in agreement with is that your oblivity is outstanding.

You must adapt solutions to your circumstance. Not copy and paste. This is Nigeria, and presently one of the solutions to the underdevelopment bedeviling the country is autonomy to the LGAs.

...and it is not a big mess in Nigeria where the drug lord, being a CIA asset, is twerking non stop for the west for attention and acceptability...?

nairalanda1:
Actually he isn't.

The debt is forecast to rise and is rising, plus their equivalent of Boko Haram is basically running one third of the country. And they have herdsmen vs farmer issues there too. Live.

The economy has always been shit. It is reliant on cotton, and cotton prices are in a big mess, and have been for years. Matters are made worse by big cotton producers like the USA subsidising their cotton farmers, which makes it difficult for them to make much money from their cotton.

It's a big mess there.
PoliticsRe: It’s Better To Have 774 Thieves In Nigeria Than Only One Big Thief – Oshiomhole by Blazetrailer: 4:03pm On Dec 03, 2024
This further confirms to me you are limited in knowledge. How easy it was for you to pick the US without stating that there are strong institutions to ensure accountability, probity and transparency to the people and pick up errant rogues within the system,at least to a great extent.

How easily you avoided countries that practice rigid ans stronger central autonomy but are thriving. Denmark changed its local government system on 2007 to a stronger centre and they're thriving, China,Singapore and to sone extent, Japan(with a stronger perfecture system) dont complain so much about local government automomy for them to see progress. Only buffons like you think Nigerias only solution is local government autonomy.

I am sure you got this off some fellow dimwits like you discussing publicly, very likely at a newspaper vendor stand near your ghetto in Mushin or Ajah bus stop in Lagos, and gbam!! ....by a stroke of misfortune, .myou all came to thought that Local government autonomy is the silver bullet to all the structural, economic and political solutions in Nigeria. This same way people in 1978 thought the Presidential system would solve all Nigerian issues ans jettisoned the Parliamentsry system...only for them to be valling for the return of the same Parliamentary system of givernment again as echoed by so many public commentators recently.

You all are daft. The system of the government or structure will always be as good as the people running it. Oponu!!

BondRiv:
Are there angels running the American system or other functional systems? Bring whatever visionary leader you want and put him in the local government system with this current structure, no progress will be made. I have to teach you these things because you clearly have no understanding, yet shamelessly arrogant in your ignorance. Just parroting words.

Very informative.

My view however is that this bill, just like the original version if the PIB will be killed, not because itbis really anti people, butbmore because the harbinger, Tinubu, squadered all the goodwill he had on terrible economic policies hence it is now easy to galvanise thr opposition with misinformation. All mew leaders have that momentum before their populsrity begins ti wane and resistance to their term begins ti fester. He shoukd have come up with this first before all the nosense ones like the National anthem bill.....Just like Jonathan,Joe Biden, etc, he frittered away the goodwill and recency opportunitues when he was still not seen as a poor ans vision less leader....so much for all the noise abuot " being a brilliant strategist"

Reasoning of a simpleton

simpleseyi:
Same as you said before the election, yet we trashed you.

We will pass the Bills, even if Heaven falls.

Even if no single Senator from the North and South supports the Bill, we will still pass it. Once SP Godswill Akpabio says “those in support say Aye”, if no single person says “Aye”, then silence means acceptance and consent, then the Ayes have it. If you like bring out guns on the floor of the House, once Godswill Akpabio pronounce God’s Will, it becomes LAW. Ogun kee una Mama.

Instead of bringing together your best brains to scrutinise the Bills and see how you can propose adjustments and modifications that will favour you, and if all you have in your states are serial killers, you can employ Consultants from any part of the world to help you scrutinise the Bills. Once you don’t do that, but you think you have any means of stopping the Bills, then you are damn for life, because we will pass the four Bills even if no single Senator besides the SP supports it.
