Pls can any one confirm if this product is a morning star clone or rebranded CC. I am tempted to pick it up since is it cheaper 136k and has been well rated by my collegues that use it.

Good to know you are seeing some improvement now - is it possible you have some shading/shadow on your panels in the evenings from around 4pm? e.g tree line, tree branches or tall building, fence, water tower/tank casting shadows on your panels?

there are no shadow casting of them at the time I checked.
I had to reset the pv input breakers and the voltage returned to 36volts
I guess some thing has smoked in this Epever, I think I would get a pwm while I get somebody to take a look at it for me

I do believe your PV input voltage headroom is too high in this your config.

You are using 70v on the PV side to charge batteries that will charge at a max rate of 15v since you have a 12v nominal system - the MPPT buck converter must be working double duty to 'down convert' with a 55v headroom and this is an el cheapo controller mind you.

Please consider putting your two 340w panels in PARALLEL - disconnect all PV and also switch off PV to CC breaker - combine the 2 panels' positive wires into the PV to CC incoming positive and also combine the 2 panels' negative wires with the PV to CC incoming negative wire. With this new scenario you should be getting 35v or so on the PV side which is more than sufficient headroom to down convert and charge your 12v batteries.

The PV to CC amperage will double with your panels in parallel vs series - what gauge/thickness of wire are you using?

Please make the changes indicated and let us know the outcome.

I have changed connections as advised.
The CC performed well till around 4pm and then reverted back to 14v again.
I got a good charge today but my problems are not over yet.
This seems to happen during periods of low pv yield.

Last batch only comes in v6. M272 engines.

Pls i have an epsolar 40 amps thats is behaving strangely. It drops and limits input pv voltage to 14v.
It temporarily corrects its self when ever i disconnect and reconnects the PVs it corrects back to the expected input pv of 70-80v but only to revert back to displaying 14v input pv within 30mins.

System is a 12v system
Inverter is a pscsolaruk....branded.
Pv is a 2 x 340w Canadian Solar connected in series.
Cc is an epsolar 40a.
Can you help pls..

Hey there. Sorry, I've been advised to stay away from the 7g-tronic tranny. Good luck with your sales, though!

Ok .. noted and i respect your choice.
But from my perspective the are cheaper and easier to maintain.
7g tranny never breaks as long as you give it at least annual oil change with the recommended oil to keep its solenoid, valve body and conductor plates fresh.
And if it breaks in rare cases ..the cost for toks is 60 to80k for a first grade.
This is not the 4matic and changing it would take less than 2 man hours in the right work shop..
This was recently changed in the w204 i intend to acquire and it works perfectly after gear reset.
No slipping gear or kicks unlike the 5g tronic.

Good luck with your choice Sir but I will personally stick with them.

Most recent MBs come with 7g tronic and 7g + trannys...
I am currently reviewing 9g tronic..

Depends on your budget. I've mostly focused on the W203 so far, as the W204 is above my budget.

What I've learnt.

- Stay away from the pre-facelift models (before 2005), they have too many electrical gremlins and may have rust issues.
- Stay away from models under the C230, likely underpowered.
- 05 C230 Kompressor has excellent fuel economy but the supercharger may be hard to work on.
- 05 C240 is slightly slower than the C230 Kompressor but is generally a smoother ride, as it's a naturally aspirated V6.
- C240 was rebranded to become a C280 in 2006. The Kompressor badge was dumped in 2005, and C230s after that only had a luxury and sport version. (Citation needed)
- 4Matics should generally be avoided. The tradeoff between an AWD system and possible maintenance issues isn't worth it. RWD is more fun to drive anyways.
- Models of 2006 and 2007 all had the M272 engine. 2006 models all had a balance shaft defect, not all 2007 did. The balance shaft cost over $4k to fix in the UK but usually occurred before the car hit 100k mileage, so any car you see here has likely been fixed.


This is all I've learnt about the W203 over weeks of obsessive research. If I were to buy a W203 now, I'd be looking for an 06/07 C230 Sport or C280. They have the best looks. The 05 C240 is also a great choice, although its initial acceleration is supposedly a tad on the slow side.

Reliability: Anything after 2004
2nd hand value: Don't buy this with second hand value in mind. If it's important, get a 06/07 sport model.
Fuel economy: Anything after 2004 should be fine, as long as you don't get a C350 or something.

I have c230 2006 last batch with the m272 engine and 7g tronic smooth gear box for sale and i can give you a full month warranty on it.. nothing to fix.. reason for sale.. upgrading to 204.
I am only looking for who would truely value a well maintained benz.. plus it is very clean.
