THE FIXED MINDSET: People with a fixed mindset believe that they are born with certain intelligence, skills and abilities that cannot change. So they don't make an effort to go beyond their abilities and expand their comfort zone.

THE GROWTH MINDSET: People with a growth mindset understand that their skills and intelligence can be improved with effort and persistence, and are usually happy to accept a challenge.

A BIG DIFFERENCE:
When faced with a challenge, such as learning a new language (e.g: Spanish). People with a fixed mindset will see the difficulty they are facing as a confirmation of what they think of themselves, that they are dumb. Whilst people with a growth mindset will see it as an opportunity to enlarge their ability to learn.

For instance: You got a message from your boss saying he wants you to handle a new project using a different software from the one you are used to.

GROWTH MINDSET: Sure, I can take on the new challenge. I've learned a new software system in the past so this one na beans. I can even learn fast and help the rest of the team get up to speed with the new software.

FIXED MINDSET: Wait o, I'm sure my boss didn't mean to send this to me, I don't know how to use this software so I can't do it. Make him forward am to who fit do am, no presume me oh.

Buttom Line:
A growth mindset helps you understand that;
1. Basic human abilities like being good at math, remembering people's names etc can be learned and don't necessarily need to be born with them.

2. Having difficulty doesn't mean you are dumb. It just means you are yet to understand or learn the material, don't force it, it will come out good.

3. Learning new things creates new brain connections, and with time and practice those connections become stronger and that's how people become experts.

4. Making mistakes doesn't mean you are a failure, it just means you're on the right track, just not there yet.

2. Focus on the process instead of the end result that way, you get to learn lessons that experience has for you no matter the end.

3. Train yourself to receive constructive criticism with Grace. Don't say "I know" when corrected, say "Thank you for bringing that to my notice" I'll work on it instead.
