SportsWhat Lies Ahead Following Arteta's Appointment? by BlitzNG(op): 5:39pm On Dec 20, 2019
Premier league giant, Arsenal football club, has appointed their ex-captain Mikel Arteta as the club's new manager following their recent poor run of form since the departure of Arsene Wenger.

The appointment by the London club who currently sit 10th on the log ahead their trip to Everton on Saturday, is hoped to end the turbulent few weeks for Arsenal, who have won just one game under Ljungberg, and the hierarchy will hope Arteta’s arrival will halt a slide which has seen them fall just seven points above the relegation zone.

Mikel Arteta, 37, who signed a 4-year contract will be unveiledat a press conference at Emirates Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Having spent 5 years with the Gunners as a player, he won two FA Cups before retiring and making the move into coaching. His journey into football club management saw him serve as an assistant under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City between 2016 and 2019.

"This is a huge honour. Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world. We need to be competing for the top trophies in the game and that’s been made very clear to me in my discussions with Stan and Josh Kroenke, and the senior people from the club," Arteta told the club's official website.

"We all know there is a lot of work to be done to achieve that but I am confident we’ll do it. I’m realistic enough to know it won’t happen overnight but the current squad has plenty of talent and there is a great pipeline of young players coming through from the academy."

Fan's major expectations from Arteta's appointment.

Football experts and lovers all over the world are of high expectations to see Arsenal get back into winning ways in the premier league as the new manager is expected to encourage and field the likes of Mezut Ozil while Laccazette is expected to be seen in the starting line up.

The youth football system at Arsenal is not to be neglected as the younger lads will be seen often playing alongside the more experienced players. However, the need to build the porous midfield, vulnerable defense and uninformed attack is sacrosanct to becoming a success on the managerial seat and competing with the top 6 in the league.

Meanwhile, Arteta is expected to make major signings in the January transfer window to solidify the team for the second half of the season in a bid to achieve the all important champions league qualification as well as reaching the FA cup and Europe league finals.

Arteta will travel up to Liverpool later this evening to join up with the Arsenal squad ahead of Saturday’s game against Everton at Goodison Park.

The former Citizen's assistant manager who travels to Liverpool today to join the team ahead of the game against Everton, will watch the match from the stands, with Freddie Ljungberg - who has been filling in as interim boss since Emery was dismissed - in charge for the final time.

Speaking about the appointment, Gunners director Josh Kroenke said: "We’re delighted to be bringing Mikel back to Arsenal. He knows our expectations and those of our fans around the world are high and we are confident he can play a lead role in taking the club back to the levels we all demand.

"I also want to thank Freddie Ljungberg for skilfully guiding us through the last three weeks. He stepped up at short notice and has helped us through this difficult period with great professionalism."

Head of football Raul Sanllehi added: "We met several top-class candidates and Mikel stood out to every single one of us as the perfect person for us.

"Mikel understands Arsenal Football Club and what it means to our fans around the world. We look forward to him getting down to work and bringing the best out of our squad as we work to get our season back on track.

"I must also pay tribute to Freddie Ljungberg for his hard work and leadership. Together with Per Mertesacker, he has done a vital job for us in difficult circumstances. Freddie and Per are important parts of the Arsenal family and care deeply for this club."

SportsHere Is The New BAL Logo Design by BlitzNG(op): 9:07am On Dec 20, 2019
— Edit
The Basketball Africa League (BAL), a new professional league featuring 12 club teams from across Africa and scheduled to begin play in March 2020, on Thursday, unveiled the league’s official logo. The new logo, which features the silhouette of a basketball player taking a jump shot on a vibrant green, yellow, red and royal blue background, celebrates the Pan-African footprint of the league, Africa’s diversity and the continent’s rich basketball heritage.

Photo BAL announcement.JPGThe announcement was made today by BAL President Amadou Gallo Fall prior to the BAL qualifier game at the Kigali Arena in Kigali, Rwanda in the presence of Rwanda President Paul Kagame, Rwanda Minister of Sport Aurore Mimosa Munyangaju, FIBA Africa and BAL Board President Anibal Manave, FIBA Africa Executive Director Alphonse Bilé, two-time NBA All-Star and South Sudan Basketball Federation President Luol Deng, and former NBA player Olumide Oyedeji (Nigeria).

The BAL logo is inspired by the NBA and FIBA’s commitment to establishing the BAL as a world-class professional league that champions inclusion and youth development, provides an entertaining product for fans of all ages, and drives economic growth across the continent.

The logo’s colors convey multiple meanings. The red and royal blue connect it back to the NBA, while also symbolizing love, energy, confidence and strength. The yellow and green speak to Africa’s optimism, joy and wisdom, while celebrating health, harmony and environment.

The shape of the logo and the use of a player silhouette connect to the visual structure of the NBA’s family of logos, which includes the NBA, WNBA, NBA G League and NBA 2K League. The use of a player taking a jump shot also speaks to one of the most fundamental plays in the game of basketball, a showcase of the talent and skill that will be on display when the inaugural BAL season tips off in March.

“This unique logo reflects the exciting and dynamic nature of our game, symbolizes the richness, diversity and authenticity of our continent, and represents African basketball on the world stage,” said Fall. “This new logo will not only become synonymous with our league, but also with the values and aspirations that the BAL brand will promote and inspire.”

The inaugural BAL regular season will take place in Cairo (Egypt), Dakar (Senegal), Lagos (Nigeria), Luanda (Angola), Rabat (Morocco) and Monastir (Tunisia). Kigali (Rwanda) will host the first-ever BAL Finals. NIKE and Jordan Brand will be the exclusive on-court outfitter of the new professional league.

The first BAL Combine, a two-day scouting event featuring 50 aspiring players from Africa, the U.S. and around the world, was held earlier this month at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) Training Center – the official practice facility of the Brooklyn Nets – in Brooklyn, New York.

FIBA and the NBA also plan to dedicate financial support and resources toward the continued development of Africa’s basketball ecosystem, including training for players, coaches and referees, and infrastructure investment.

The announcement about FIBA and the NBA’s launch of the BAL, which would mark the NBA’s first collaboration to operate a league outside of North America, was made at the NBA All-Star 2019 Africa Luncheon in Charlotte on Saturday, Feb. 16.
Additional details about the BAL will be announced at a later date.

RomanceRe: Do Long Distance Relationship Last? by BlitzNG(m): 2:57pm On Dec 19, 2019
bindukwe:
It could be anything, all possibilities are valid.

You can barely have a serious relationships with LDR.
It requires so much resources to sustain. Points you make with one physical embrace would require tons of video calls and text to match.

Physical relationships last more. I guess that's an obvious statistic.

He probably saw that he couldn't carry on with his promise.
It would be a good time to ask if you want to be with someone who breaks promises?

And his actions as described by you seems inconsiderate.
He should have provided a soft landing.

You can't start something and not finish it well even if the original plan fails.

If you ask me, I'd suggest you move on.
To me, I feel he is not wrong and at the same wrong. Reason is that he told you his mind at a stage where you can easily move on with a decision to be with someone you see daily PR weekly because if it gets to that point of meeting your parents or family members and then back out, it could be devastating.
On the other hand, he should have known from the outset what he wanted and how he wants it to be. He should define his purpose and goals in a relationship. Does he like long distance or not? Think it twice before leading the other party on and abandon him/her along the line.
