It actually depends on the school actually. I know of a federal university wey their MBBS result dey come out after 2/3 days just to avoid any form of sorting/ cheating.

Also, no be only one person dey mark their exam, so honestly it's quite difficult, cos how many people you want sleep with or sort, cos you might not even know all ot them. Except the system has changed now though which I do not know, but when we go school those days na so e be.
Even if one sorts 1 lecturer, if u don't score high marks in the other lecturers questions ( same department o), how will it help?
So it's not easy at all.

That's why even if they sort, u will notice that they still score high marks in courses or departments they didn't sort.
Cos the objective is the sum of the total.

The bolded is so true.
You even forgot clinicals like Int Med, Gen Surg etc. Even if they sort the written exams, they can't sort the long and short cases. How dem wan sort a whole panel of 5 or 6 consultants from different departments looking at you present a case?
100 percent ✅. Clinicals are crazy. Consultants coming in frm different states to teach and travel back.... All of them with different temperament.

I feel it ,they make medicine very stressful course, you attend lectures from morning till 3pm and the next day d lecturer is giving you shotgun giving when you hardly have time to cook,wash,read... lecturers crash a one month course in 5days.
In saner clime medical students are on scholarship, accomodated with free food, textbooks & laundry taken care of...so that they will not have any distraction.
Exactly. Well said.
Imfact it's almost impossible to learn all of : head and neck' in medical school because of how lengthy it is compared to time.

Be deceiving yourself.
This is pure ignorance, it's basically because you're not exposed. So many things are happening that you're not aware of.

Even if a thousand lecturers teach a course, one or all of those lecturers will have access to the questions before the exams start.
This means if you know the right man, you can have access to the question an hour or less before the exam starts even with the answer booklet. Some students can even do their own outside the exam hall and we submit with others who wrote theirs inside the exam hall.

So, please don't argue, anything is impossible, and the level of human corruption should not be underestimated.
Thanks.
U neglected some important points.
The dean or provost sets questions frm his subordinates (other consultants).
If ur man passes u in his question, what about the other?

It's rare for the dean or provost to release questions before hand o.
A lecturer in the department may do so.

But provost? Never heard

I dnt understand this slot you talking about...u mean if they want 20 students in d next class & 20 or less it must be even if 30 passed?
What you mean everybody read like no tomorrow,is it not about answering questions correctly?
Ur first question: yes. Many medical schools out of greed take it many students. If they want 70 students in year 2 for example, even if the student reached the normal cut off mark, they will raise it so that even those that passed before can fail.... In order to have 70 students move into the next level frm a total of let's say, 300. So 130 students can pass and be eligible to cross over, but they need 70. So 60 have to go one way or another. And it goes on like that to the next level.
I entered medical school into a class of about 600 students in year 1. I leave the rest to ur imagination.

Ur 2nd question: yes, but because a student didn't answer correctly, doesn't mean that student no sabi book o. In fact if them reset the questions again differently, the other person wey pass before fit fail, cos it's just too broad. And the teaching method in naija be like concentration camp.
Some topics that should take months to teach abroad can be taught in 2 weeks in Nigeria. Example is 'stomach and abdomen'. It can be taught in 2 weeks and u have to read everything.

Good points/observations.

But:

In medical school, u have so many lecturers teaching u that u cannot pay for all.

And not all consultants will collect money, take note.

Even year 5 ( path and pharm) how many consultants do u want to sort? Or can u sort?

Even if u sort, if u more write well, the lecturer can be unable to pass u cos, like in most instances, 5 lecturers can mark just one script( 5 lecturers can contribute 7 questions in one particular department). So the bulk still lies on the medical student to write well, cos as they are marking, other lecturers can scrutinize other answers.

Again, during Viva exam( oral exam) trust me: IF SORTED AND PASSED THE WRITTEN EXAM AND U CANNOT ANSWER QUESTIONS WHEN ASKED IN FRONT OF LET'S SAY, 5 CONSULTANTS, THEY WILL BRING OUT UR SCRIPT AND SCRUTINIZE IT AND FAIL U THERE!

Many consultants even fear to pass any lazy medical students ( in fact the moment u fail and are eligible for a resit exam eh, they already see u as a failure).

Again, take note that even those that sort most times do so, not because they cannot pass.... But because there are limited slots to move to the next level. Every medical school has a quota. Some can only graduate 30 doctors per session, some more,.

At the end of the day u may find out that even those that sort may be even better doctors.

Cos everybody dey read like say tomorrow no dey for medical school.

Now after medical school, ur hands play a huge role in how good u are.

Less cramming of big text books.
More practice of what u have been taught.
