Onyinel:So Sad to read this, and thank God that you survived. The whole NDDC team are so pathetic. I was just speechless reading the news of the cancellation. I spent nothing less than 300,000 naira flying over there twice and paying hotel bills only to receive this news. Those people who think the system has changed should think again. NDDC is still yet to fully pay past scholars and they are yet to advertise. Who knows how long it will take for them to conduct this one. If they cancel a whole process just like that imagine what they will do when you are very far away from them in another country studying. |
choicecad:Yes I got the invitation but I didn't attend. |
I can confirm that I just received 8,450 naira from MARG EDUCATION INTL LIMITED. Bank: GTB. Let us hope that the list is released soon. Na the real koko be that. |
I THINK THE WHOLE THING IS LEGIT. I GOT TWO EMAILS AND I HAVE RESPONDED APPROPRIATELY BY FILLING THE FORMS PROVIDED. LET US HOPE AND PRAY THAT THE LIST WILL BE RELEASED SOON. I HAVE A FEELING THAT VICTORY IS VERY CLOSE FOR ALL OF US HERE. GeoOla25:I GOT THE TWO EMAILS ALSO. THIS IS LEGIT. NDDC HAS NOT FORGOTTEN US. LET US PRAY THAT THEY PAY ON TIME AND RELEASE THE LIST SOON. ALL GLORY TO GOD. |

@sethmelia002 The 2017 list was put on hold because of the back logs from previous sets. The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs stated that clearly. I don't know why you are trying so hard to convince people otherwise as if you are in a better position than the Minister. On or about September 2017, there were a lot of Articles written in the Punch and Vanguard by people who stated that it was unwise and unreal for NDDC to release 2017 list without clearing backlogs. I am guessing the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs must have read one of these articles and aligned himself with the views of those people. You are saying that they should have released the list even if there was no money. How can you release a list when there is little or no money? Before now, NDDC used to deny these scholars by calling them fake. But now they are mandated by the Minister to cater for them. That is why they are stuck. The money they would have used for us has to be used to settle back logs and that makes sense. A cancellation of the list makes no sense at all. There wouldn't even be a 2018 scholarship application until past scholars have been paid. What is the point of releasing a list when there is no money to pay scholars? They are trying to avoid what happened years back. |
sethmelia002:You are talking like we are jobless people. Many people who applied for the 2017 scholarship award already got jobs to do. So how many are ready or willing to go back to PH to do a test and then an interview for something that the outcome was never revealed? What sense does that make? If this one didn't click why would that one click? How is it possible that something like that was cancelled for no just reason? It can only be cancelled if they discovered that something illegal happened during the Test/Interview process but this is not the case. I want to go with what the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs said which is that the scheme has been suspended. I don't know where you got your information from but I think the issue in this forum is that many people want attention. If you are not the MD or a staff in NDDC you should at least provide a source for the information provided. You may not necessarily provide the name of the person but you can provide the designation or position. It is only the MD or the minister or the Chairman that can speak authoritatively on this, and they have stated clearly that once payment is made to past scholars, the scheme will kick off. That makes sense. What won't make sense is telling people to re-apply again. I mean for what purpose? Your 10,000 naira stipends was not paid so what gives you assurance that it will be paid once you reapply again? What even gives you assurance that the list will be released if you re-apply again? Have they come out with a press statement to explain why they are cancelling it and reassuring people that if they did re-apply, everything will go fine? The crux of the whole issue is outstanding payments. I don't see any reason why once this is done they can't release the list. Except they are saying that there is no money for us. Then why did they spend so much money to advertise and tell us to apply? These questions are for those in authority. Let us wait and see what happens once payment is made. |
BRAINNY:Politics in Nigeria knows no bounds. They don't mind getting what they want at the expense of others. The money might have been fixed in the bank to generate more proceeds for them. All their children are abroad living the life. None have to ever worry about cash. I blame the present Administration for refusing to hold this people accountable. It seems like anyone who is close to those at the top will never face probe and this is what is giving them the authority to do what they are doing. We can only pray for God to touch their hearts so that they can do what is right. |
nelsont1:Oh they owe us a lot. A lot more than you know and that is what is called accountability. You keep using "we" like you are speaking for everyone. Just speak for yourself. Like the gentleman said, none of us asked for this. I saw the advert in newspaper and at that time I had already given up studying abroad but that gave me some hope. Why did they spend so much money advertising when they knew things were going to be like this? I mean the advert is everywhere. In Punch Newspapers you name it. They paid a lot for that. During the test they were taking pics of all of us for the media. You know why? Because they want to give the people the impression that they are working. The Government would even think that by now 2017 are already in the UK studying. It is all a publicity stunt. So what these scholars are doing is to make the Government know that it is not really true what NDDC is presenting. And oh yes this has been reported in many news outlets. The excuse is that they are auditing as if auditing takes years to do. Is this not something that they should have done even before you put the advert on the newspaper? If you are going to invite people for a work interview are you saying you don't already have salaries to pay them for like 8 months down? The money is there and a large chunk of it was given to them by the Government so even if they don't owe us an explanation they owe the Government one and the Government is accountable to us. Why don't they tell the media that they don't owe any explanation and see what would happen next. If they didn't coerce people to applying who would be on this thread waiting for a list or pleading for payment? Many of us left our jobs and flew from all parts of the country believing in a dream and hoping for the best but see what is happening? And please do not say that we put them in or voted or collected money to vote. If you have done your research well you would know that the people who collect this money are not the few like us but those who actually can rally thousands to vote. Why do you think the MD is focused now on road constructions and all? Check the NDDC website and if you have never done anything with NDDC before you did think they were the best thing that has ever happened to Nigeria. Even yesterday they commissioned another road. The MD knows that we don't cover the big numbers for voters but since this was part of the budget he decided to still put up a front to make it feel that he is doing something. And please stop telling people to shut up. You are not the one suffering over there. They have a constitutional right to express themselves. And don't forget that anyone who wins this scholarship is given a letter. Legally, that qualifies as an agreement enforceable in a Court of Law. Too bad we are in a country where they do not obey court orders. They agreed in the letter to remit money when due so this is a breach. And all these excuses about the scholars being the one to blame. This is very heartless for anyone in this thread to say. If you are among those waiting for the 2017 list don't tell me you have not deferred yet? and that is if your school allows for January. So if they give you September and NDDC happens to award you with the scholarship, the same NDDC that caused you to defer would now blame you for going later than 6 months. Is that fair? This is what they tell the media. Oh they changed schools or oh they resumed late. How do you expect people to resume on time like this? If you are not among those waiting for this list then I can understand that may be you don't understand the process. But if you are among and you are saying this, then it is sad. NDDC do it deliberately to force you to make a decision that they can later blame you for it. General salute to all scholars for holding on tight till this day. God will surely answer your prayers and things will be sorted out by the Grace of God. You guys are strong. For the record, I am not one of the scholars but I understand. Just a concerned citizen. |
visionphemy:Please share the good news with us. |
