Until electioneering campaigns begin that is when we shall know who is telling the truth among you people. Believe the words of a Nigerian politician at your own peril. |

Marriage should not be by force but by choice. |
brain54:For where? I didn't go back again. I had to look for a job with my accounting certificate. But one day while at work, fate brought me to a German lady who came to Nigeria to invest and I interacted with her in German language. She was shocked to know I could speak her language and she promised to engage me in her investment but unfortunately again, I lost contact with her before she went back. I met her in a hotel lobby. She made me know I wasn't a failure in the language. |
Namaster:True, but they will lead you on to run expenses and at the end you will see that you have been on a wild goose chase. |
Men and brethren, I remember years ago when I wanted to travel to Germany to further my education. One of the requirements for a student's visa then was that you must go to Goethe Institute, which their language school under the embassy and learn the language for at least a year before you apply for a visa. This according to them was to enable you to know basic communication before travelling to Deutschland (Germany). I had no choice than to accept, just like every other aspiring student of Nigerian origin who couldn't speak the language. The Goethe Institute was the only German embassy recognized language school in the whole of Nigeria then. So crowds used to gather early as 5amin the mornings for a good position in the queue on the days of registration. Omo, I took risks from PPL in Ojo to V.I on those days in other to meet up for the registration. I succeeded. Having done the three required levels for nine months, I was ready for the embassy visit with my certificates. I was among the best students in the school o. I applied for winter semester admissions in the University of Mannheim and was offered provisional admissions. The school requested that I should go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and authenticate all my academic certificates, and go back to the embassy for my visa. I traveled to Abuja from Lagos. Let me save the travel experience on our roads for another day. But the ministry authenticated my certificates and I returned to Lagos. A few days later I was at the embassy, armed with all my authenticated certificates. But the crux of my story is that I was unfortunate to be attended to by one German witch like that, who on laying hold of my certificates began to speak native German to me as if na her mama born me. She was speaking up to 50 sentences per minute in her native tongue. My brothers and sisters, I just sat motionless with my mouth wide open, and my eyes almost popping out of my eyeballs in trying to decipher one single sentence that she made but I couldn't. She spoke again and from her body language she was asking me how I managed to get the language certificate if I couldn't communicate with her in her language. She handed all my certificates back to me and asked me to leave. Chai, at that split second I saw myself at the village. All my efforts of about one and half years just went down the drain. My people, I just went back to my mom's arms to be comforted. Share your own embassy experience. |
dollytino4real:I sincerely hope you are ok. |
HgAkpobomeEr:And what exactly is the needful? |
toboizilla:By telling her to grow and be wise, you are indirectly telling her she hasn't been wise before now. It's an insult on her and her family. Just accept it and apologize and move on. But like someone said earlier, next time rephrase your words and drop that silly ego of yours and own up to your mistake. |
