The drama
After he was declared death, the sister bf called his mom, and told her my friend went to the swimming pool with us, got drown, that they should start coming as soon as possible, he never told them he's death. He just said the guy is in critical condition.
Before my own eyes, the guy[her sis bf] excuse himself and went home, the gf vanished without saying a word, heheheh. Now the sister told me she need to go home and take care of the younger ones and also close the shop as well. Smile I was the only one and last man standing, where can I run to? It was getting dark, everyone has disappeared leaving me with the corpse just like the Nollywood movies. Where will I go to? It was getting dark and I've never been out that late since I came living with my uncle, I've never gone for outing, should I call him? And tell him I'm in trouble? No he's a very discipline man, he will say I didn't tell him where I was going to. Omo. I summond the courage. I called him, he said where did I go to na? He's been calling my lines. Of course I had to switch off my phone. Where are u? He said sir I'm in the hospital ooo. What happened to u? No its not me. I'm find. It's my frd. He got drown. What do u mean by he got drown? How is he now? Sir he's in very critical condition as we speak. I'll call you back.. He now call our pastor, and gave him my number. Pastor called me, and said where are u guys? What happened? Sir I'm in the hospital I'm the only one here as we speak. His sister have gone home. Of course she went home. B4 she even get there the news have already spread in a geephe.

This particular one the guy went to swim with his friends in a hotel, dived headlong into the shallow part of the pool. At that time his mum was attending a church service and the church is in my area in Ibafo.

The rescue

After he was brought out of the pool, mouth to mouth was administer to him, I could see water and meat particles draining out from his eyes, mouth, ears and nostrils. I watched the whole process in disdain and disappointment. He was now rush to a nearby hospital, the sister called her boyfriend to meet us at the spot, we never wanted to tell her mom ar that moment, remember she traveled to meet the dad. It was less than 8hours journey. When we arrived at the first hospital, they said they don't have oxygen after the doctor tried some mouth to mouth exercise. We were referred to another hospital, a popular hospital in that area, we drove there, they put him in a stretcher ask what h
Happened we narrated the ordeal. They said we needed to get a police statement b4 they do anything on him. We pleaded but all fell on deaf ears. We now location an area command in that area. The sis follow us, the gf and I, they wasted our there asking stupid questions and ask us to write statement, they ask us to fuel their cat before we drove there. When we get there after all the time wasted. It was one of the nurses that attended to us. She said and I quote"what are u guys looking for?" We told her we calm with a boy that drowned. Not it was his 17th birthday on June, 2 months b4 he died. She said we are sorry the boy couldn't make it. Immediately tears drops down my cheeks, but how come were they able to confirm him death and yet were reluctant to perform treatment untill police report is been presented. I was lost in my thoughts.
Then the real drama started.

Why didn't the Op wait until he was weak before launching his rescue attempt?
Where was the "netted rod" the Op used to feel the drowned body earlier? Couldn't he have extended the Rod to the drowning Guy to stay afloat?

I was confused. I didn't see anything like rod at that moment..

Remembering that one time I got in a pool I thought I could swim Because when I was at the shallow end. Got to the deep end and forgot how to swim. At the bottom and every kick, every lunge, felt like I was remaining at the same spot and I panicked. Wanted to open my mouth and shout for help. What saved me was embarrassment. What would my friends and girls gathered around the poolside think? After all my shakara. Nah, I couldn't die like this, never. Gritted my teeth and opened my eyes wide to start crawling across the pool floor. Inch by inch, step by step, like wading through cement. I will not, can not die like this, never. After what seemed like an eternity I reached the shallow end and rose above the water. Life never felt so good. Funny thing was how nobody even noticed anything was wrong.

You were strong to keep calm or maybe the pool is not that deep. Drowning occurs when u get to a deeper part and u tried to stand on ur feet, all of a sudden u can't reach the ground. That's where the fear sets in. That time u will think there current pulling u backward.

The search
I watch him struggles in pains, not just pains but pains of death. He kept on fighting but as we all know , no one can cheat death especially when it comes knocking, suddenly he succumbed and became weak, then he gradually sank into the depth of the shadow pool. Then the pool became still and calm as if Jesus commanded the water to be still during the great storm. All I could hear was her sister and girlfriend crying and running helter scatter looking for help. Where did the life guard went to? I don't know. I don't know how long he stayed into the pool before the life guard came to his rescue, but all I know is i kept on diving hipe to see him inside the water so I could drag him out.
Life guard finally came. They told him he started searching for him with other of his friends, in my mind I was like where did they go to?
The search was over 30 minutes in thesame swimming pool. It get to a point he even asked us, and I quote "una sure say person dey inside this water? Cause I no see any body ooo". I was like oga u dey craze? I told u my friend is in there and here u are saying rubbish. He dive in again and couldn't see him. I now use one rod attached to a net and deep it inside the pool and moving it. Lo and behold there was him, I felt him through the rod. I quickly alerted them he dive inside and they were able to bring him out I can't recall how long that take but it was more than 30 minutes.
Immediately they brought him out, they started pressing his stomach, the pool attendant was too harsh on him cause he was slapping him too hard.
All of a sudden water started coming out from his eyes, nostrils mouth and ears mixed with the pieces of meat and food we eat earlier.

Yes, u heard me right. The struggle continues, my guy became frightened as he noticed he is caught in between the deep blue sea, he began to gasp for air, in my mind I was like dude stopped pretending na, u told me u can swim, but then a second thought came in, I realized it wasn't just a joke but a reality of death. I first of all came out from the pool then follow the side I push him to the side that wasn't deep, somehow he manage to find himself back to the deeper path. How come did that happened? Words just can't explain that, then I decided to push him toward the length of the pool, if he would have keep calm and grab the step or the pool edge, I'm quite sure he would have also been reading this post by now cause he was also an active member on this forum. But God knows the best. I came again from the pool I was so confused, yeah I know you might be asking the whereabouts of his sister and girlfriend, they were busy screaming at the top of their voices. The life guard wasn't around as at that moment, the third time I dive in he grab me, i was already exhausted this time around I was now struggling for my life. Let me go I beg him, but he held me firm with his grips, I struggle push him to side of the pool, his sister suppose to have grab him. His fears couldn't let him grab the pool wall. I had to free my self and we both sank under the water. After some time he had to let go off me before I managed to swim out.
The struggle continues, I watch him fights and beg God for a second chance, I could see the disappointment in his face, I could see wasn't happy with the situation on ground. Help me he scream 1 more time, I felt a sharp pain in the my heart. The life guard was no way to be found. He struggle, he fought, he cried, he regretted, I was so pained. I felt his pains. What can I do? I wish I could tell him I ment well.

The pool doesn't look like one with a life guard.

It would have been easy for me. But based on what he told me that he can swim so.i was reluctant at first. Thought he was pretending to be drawing. They have life guard. He said he went to do something. Funny enough the tube around was not inflected.

That's what I taught too i tried all my possible best and again he is bigger than me the third time i dive in he grab me tight this time around i saw death but had to go under the water before free me. U should have ask where was the life guards at that moment.

Boom, we boarded two bikes, his gf and his sister mounted one, i and him climbed the other. I've never been to a swimming pool all my life and I've never gone for outing in that town that was my first day, but i can swim cause we have big rivers and streams around my childhood location. Out of curiosity I asked. Guy hope u can swim?
He said "taah, I be fish i do go to that pool often too swim"
We went to the first hotel unfortunately there was no water in their pool, he then took us to another hotel. We arrived, I was the one who paid for the pool the four of us, he bought drinks and I bought meat. After eating, he was the first to change his clothes, followed by me. He then started swimming in the shallow part. I dived in and swam to the deeper part I came out, he said o boy u be fish ooo. I was close to the pool when he push me in, I went beneath the water after sometime i surfacedand started floating. I was like guy so u can't swim? He said he can't ooo. Then he asked if that place was deep. I said no its not deep oo. He didn't know I was floating, but that place was over twice my height or so. He then went to the other side that was shallow and decided to meet me where I was. Note He told me he is a perfect swimmer. His sister and his gf where still on the table watching us and preparing to come and join us later. He was walking toward my side and all of a sudden it was as if a force drag his leg. Of course there was a change in depth and he became frightened and the struggle began.

As month goes by, I told him I will be taking jamb, and NDA will be my preferred choice of institution, he too said he will be writing jamb too will like to try NDA.
He was so fun of me, and very smart, so one day he suggested that we should go to the pool and swim, and that he will be going with his girlfriend, I told him I don't have a girlfriend he said I shouldn't worry that I can take her elser sister out too cause she will follow us. I said it's okay by me. He now choose a Sunday he said his mom and dad will be traveling so that day will be nice. After church that Sunday, I went home, I was sleeping and he gave me almost 26 missed calls. Neither did I know that he was calling to his death. When I woke up I tried calling immediately but he said he was already in my house that I should open the door. So I did. I could see disappointment written all over his face as he thought I was trying to evade the outing after the plans. Honestly I wasn't sound to go out, so I told him to wait for me.
I put on the best of my shoes, and clothes. We kick off to his shop where is sister and girlfriend was waiting for us.

My real life story
It was same time, same month in the year 2017, I traveled to the west to do my industrial training cause I was done with my OND.
While in the west I was living with one of my beloved uncle, and as time goes by I met this gentle young man in the church, he was very lovely and welcoming.
He approached me, we exchanged pleasantries, he ask where I stay, I said pointing my uncle who was the assistant pastor of the church then, he was like wow, I know ur uncle, he was teacher and a very nice man too. So he saw me off after church service and we exchanged numbers. He promised to call back since I was new in town.
His mother owns a small provision shop in the street which of course I hardly purchase things from the shop cause it was almost empty and again my uncle always direct me to buy things from another place then before I meet that my friend.
Note I've been in the town for less than two months before meeting him that faithful Sunday. According to him he traveled so he wasn't around.
On one faithful day I was taking a walk when he call me. I branched at his mom shop. He introduced me to his mom as his friend ad his mom said this your friend that doesn't buy things from my ship is that one a friend? Smile, I was shock but as time goes on I started patronizing his mom.

The first think any reasonable examination candidates suppose do na to read instructions b4 attempting the questions. But the questions were simple.
