ComputersRe: Internet Cafe Prices in Nigeria by bogunbanjo(m): 3:35pm On Jan 18, 2006
mikebuddy:
Privacy are for spammers "mainly".
Mike I think you should have more faith in people (especially Nigerians) not everyone goes to the cybercafe to spam and not everyone wants privacy for that reason. I particularly find it very offensive the way people stare at my screen while i browse(so even go as far as making comments as regards the page I'm viewing) and you really can't tell me you prefer the crowded ambiance of the cafes to the comfort of your home or car?
ComputersRe: Internet Cafe Prices in Nigeria by bogunbanjo(m): 1:54pm On Jan 18, 2006
Why not get a personal access for yourselves? In Kano, Port-Harcourt and Lagos you can get the Starcomms Data Access for N15, 000 per month (24hr access)
That boils down to N500 per day and N20.84K per hour now “THAT’S CHEAP!” shocked
N11, 000 for Business time access (6am – 6pm) = N366.67K per day and N30.55K per hour  rolleyes
N6, 000 for Evening access (6pm – 11pm) = N200 per day and N40 per hour cheesy
N4, 500 for Chat time access (11pm – 6am) = N150 per day (night) and N21.43K per hour. wink
These prices are unbelievable and YOU DO NOT PAY ANYTHING ELSE; not phone bill (dial up fee) nor access fee and you have the added bonus of mobility and privacy which you can’t have at cafes  grin

You should try out the Starcomms internet access it's the fastest and you have the added bonus of mobility; You buy a data compatible phone, Data pack (Data cable + CD ROM) then you choose a data plan then subscribe and presto you are on! And there are no additional fees to be paid; no dialup fee, no access charge

Evening Access (1800hrs – 2300hrs) N6, 000 P/Month
Chat Time (2300hrs – 0600hrs) N4, 500 P/Month
And they is a promo running presently wherein you;
Pay for 2 months Always On and get a free table top phone+data pack

PhonesRe: Starcomms' Credit-Eating Fraud by bogunbanjo(m): 12:13pm On Jan 18, 2006
Kudos to Mobileuser and Bumzy, what most fail to do when even they purchase a phone/subscribe to a service is that they do not find out what they need to know; we just buy the phone and begin to use then complain if we do not get results we anticipated, firstly Starcomms has different platform and each has it’s own peculiarities i.e. a particular access charge entitles you to a particular tariff one of which is the “no access platform” and the access charge is inversely proportional to your tariff but if you run a business centre then you’d probably be on the “Telecentre” platform like me and that mean you’ll enjoy the lowest tariff. Also since they do not do negative billing; this deduction is done only when you have credit.
There is also a validity period with every denomination of recharge done; N1,000 gives 15 days validity followed by a further 15days within which if you recharge then the left over credit will be added onto you new recharge to give a cumulative balance, so do not expect that u can leave money on your phone for eons and expect the phone to still be active the even Hunter in far away Australia says the same applies and I personally believe that Starcomms is the most customer friendly of the PTO lot
Diakim, why don’t you call their customer care line and enquire about how your phone is being billed?
PhonesRe: Multilinks Extremely Poor Network by bogunbanjo(m): 11:31am On Jan 18, 2006
Multilinks is indeed awful, their coverage is partial hence it leads to difficulties in making/receiving calls and also a lot of call drops. You get yourself a Starcomms phone and see what you were missing; great coverage, virtually no call drops people as far awaya as Sango ota, Ota, Alakuko Alagbado, Mowe, Ibafo, Redeemed camp use the lines (I have met a few of these people when I went to renew my data account @ their service centre). Many PTOs claim to “Cover Lagos” but I think only Starcomms has lived up to that billing and they have also introduced the “Super turbo card” which is just like Booster card for GSM calls @ N17
PhonesRe: Starcomms Mobile Phone With Internet Connection by bogunbanjo(m): 10:31am On Jan 18, 2006
Seun, have you been living under a rock angry? Starcomms is miles ahead of all the others in all facets; coverage, speed, options, wider array of devices and they also have a dedicated, 24 hour support line (8041234) to resolve all problems rolleyes now, that's service grin. I have used Intercellular  cry and up until last year I also had Multilinks  embarassed but I have disposed of all of them as Starcomms is delivering the total package
Although they may have the occassional down time but this is not uncommon in telecoms rather it is Starcomms' ability to indentify and rectify that sets them apart and I happen to know that they return lost access days (if the downtime was from them) and most of all they are always runing one promo or the other, so it's very easy to acquire one (I think presently you can get the phone+data pack+15days free 24hr access for just N14,950) you can their customer care line for any info you may require
N/B
dont 4get the innovative "free weekend calls" they pioneered  wink
