You should only apply 14 days before your departure date . I got my LO’s passport 4 days before and I applied immediately. I also called the number on their website after 24hours and explained the urgency since the weekend was approaching. I got my approval letter the next day.

Now you need to get an appointment at the embassy in Lagos . Please note that the notary doesn’t come everyday and the appointment date is over one month so I will advise your husband to book and appointment soon even before your baby comes . The Nigerian US embassy was really difficult, because you don’t pay for the notary service . My husband finally went to Ghana to get this done .My advice will be to get an appointment date early in Lagos and please call them to confirm what day the notary comes .
