Sometime last month, I had a heart-to-heart conversation with a friend which centred on the ideal partner. We talked about how most women bother about partners who give them little or no time. Probably only contacts them once they see a social media update. As much as I agree that we cannot tell the heart who to love, we can, however, be very mature and deliberate in choosing the emotions we decide to act on.

Here are few questions you should ask yourself about that partner you are hustling for:

1. What standards and principles have you set for yourself? Will they respect them?
2. How do they conduct themselves when you are not there?
3. What are their work ethics like?
4. Who are their friends?
5. Do they have a mentor or someone they look up to and can caution them when they get out of hand?
6. Do your goals align?
7. When you are feeling down and weak in spirit, will they be there to lift you?
8. Do they support, encourage and motivate you to do better and be a better person?
9. Are they trying to change or improve you?

When you sincerely answer the above questions without emotions, you will come to a definite conclusion about your potential life partner.
There are stages in life when you begin to understand that dating is no longer for fun but intentional. This does not mean that you cannot decide to be with someone for fun, but you are at a stage where you leave nothing hanging in the air.

Lay your cards on the table with confidence and poise because you know what you need, where you are headed and the person you want on that journey with you.
A lot of times, we stay protected from things we don’t see but, because we are so caught up in our feelings, we can’t see past them.


So, ask yourself why you want that man or woman to be part of your life. Is the hustle worth it?

World Sickle Cell Day was conceived by the United Nations general assembly on June 19, 2008 to increase awareness about the genetic disorder.
Sickle cell anaemia is an inherited form of anaemia, a condition in which there aren’t enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen throughout the body.

Causes
It is an inherited blood disorder that can be passed on from either or both parents.
Normally, the red blood cells are flexible, round and move easily through the blood vessels. However, in sickle cell, the red blood cells are mutated by a gene that makes the cells become rigid, sticky and are shaped like sickles.
The cells die early, leaving a shortage of healthy red blood cells and can block blood flow and oxygen to parts of the body.
If one of the parents has it, the child is susceptible to the disease and may have one normal haemoglobin gene and one defective form of the gene. Thus, their bodies will produce both normal and sickle cell haemoglobin.
However, if both the parents have an affected gene, then the child will have the disease too.

Symptoms
Symptoms of sickle cell anaemia vary from person to person and can change over time.
They include pain, painful swelling of hands and feet, delayed growth in children and teenagers, vision problems, yellow skin and eyes, frequent infections and fatigue.

Diagnosis
It can be diagnosed through a blood test to check for the defective form of haemoglobin. If the screening test is positive, further tests will be done to determine whether one or two sickle cell genes is present; if negative, there is no sickle cell gene present.

Treatment & prevention
Bone marrow transplant, also known as stem cell transplant, is the only form of cure available for sickle cell anaemia.
Other modes of treatment include medications to reduce pain and prevent complications, vaccinations to prevent infections and blood transfusions.
Sickle cell anaemia can be prevented by seeing a genetic counsellor before trying to conceive to know the risk of having a child with the gene.

Nigerian rapper, Keydar, and two of his friends have died while returning from the graduation thanksgiving of their friend in Oyo State.

Keydar, Williams Anifowose (a 200 Level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta), Khalifa, and Pyunz had been invited by one Dara to her thanksgiving at Ajayi Crowther University.

Yesterday 10th June 2018, a popular final year student of Lead City University, Oyo state, died in ibadan in an auto crash while driving his Mazda 626 sport car.

The student identified as Daniel Ilesanmi was said to have just bought his sport car 3 weeks ago, the final year student of the department of sociology reportedly lost control while he was driving. It was gathered that the car somersaulted several times before landing on another car in the opposite lane.
One more life was reported lost, and their bodies have been deposited in a mortuary.
According to his friends, Daniel recently won the Awards for “Multimedia Practitioner of the Year” in the Lead City University Awards and he has been known as a bright student. May his soul rest in peace.
