It's simply lack of application of the trauning they just had probably... Some facilitators in the training may have just mentioned that in the banking environment, people goes by first name and that may be where the confusion is for that lady.
At the same time, one should apply wisdom, It would have been better to make what I called "forward mistake" by calling him Mr Elumelu and wait for him to say, no call me Tony, we call ourselves by first name here. That would have been far better than what it is now.
Anyways, I still salute the courage if the Gen Z lady. She was able to compose herself and still ask the question without flinching... some other person would have been destabilized and beging to stutter, she didnt do that. That's one good quality she had and should not be wasted... We are bound to make mistakes and accept corrections and move on (she will definitely not make the mistake again).

The idea that government needs money from saved subsidy funds to build infrastructures is rubbish.Imf, world bank are the ones suggesting such heartless, draconian policies.

Hello house, I am a father of three children and I mistakenly got my wife pregnant again which I don't want and I've told her to let get rid of it because the pregnancy is just two weeks old and it is yet to form but she insisted that she's going to born it.

This thread is meant to encourage more Igbos to think home. Try and invest in Southeast, try and own a property in Southeast. Forget about propaganda, Southeast is fast developing. Many areas in Southeast now look like what you see in countries like US, South Korea, Norway, Switzerland, etc. Abroad standard structures and lawn ways, zero flooding, etc.


I am encouraging fellow Igbo brothers, please think home. Personally, I have a future plan to own a property in all the capital cities of the five states in Southeast. Gradually, God willing, I will be achieving my third before the end of 2028 God sparing our lives and I encourage fellow Igbos to do same and even more based on your pocket size. And beyond just residential buildings, please if you have the means, invest in agro business, owning a palm tree farm is very profitable, you harvest all year round, from there you can add mini factories to produce creams, soaps, groundnut oil gotten from palm kernel oil, its a very lucrative business if you can overcome inconsistent power challenge which is the greatest challenge in that business.


A friend that lives in an EU country established a complete poultry farm where he rears fowls, goats, and he recently added a fish farm.


You can establish mini agro factories, if you need ideas I can share with you just quote me. We must start thinking home, that is another way to make Southeast more safer when there are more than enough jobs to engage our youths, they won't be available for criminal gangs to recruit.

Apparently, they have nothing meaningful to use to dislodge the current government. Why should this be an issue for someone who already won the the first election that brought him to power after presenting the same certificates.

They just exhibit their very own emptiness as it points to the fact that, Tinubu’s government has done better than the previous governments (Its just the tough time everyone is going through now which we are not used to).

If he had towed the path of previous government, those projects being embarked on (though seen to be wastage by some) are not done while very few people are running away with the monies used, I'm sure most people complaining now will not say anything.

The funny thing is that, he had said he would do most of the things he is doing now, he has said things will be tough, which I believe it's better than, those who will say things will be better if they get there but the contrary is what we would have... All previous governments said that but then, things were not better.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Niger State, Jonathan Vatsa, has criticised the reported decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election, warning that Christians will not support another Muslim-Muslim ticket.


Vatsa described the move as “a direct insult” to the Christian community, saying it was politically insensitive and could cost the ruling party Christian votes.

In a statement issued in Minna on Saturday, the former Niger State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism said the circumstances that justified the same-faith ticket in 2023 no longer existed.


“I think this is a grievous mistake by the APC. It is highly insensitive,” he said.

According to him, those behind the decision “did not mean well” for the President or the party.


“With the current situation in the country and the concerns over the safety of Christians, nobody expected the President to repeat this arrangement,” Vatsa said.

He argued that the APC would struggle to convince Christians to support its ticket in 2027, especially if other political parties field Christian candidates.

“What do you expect us to tell the Christian community, to vote for another Muslim-Muslim ticket?” he insisted.


Vatsa, who recently urged Niger State Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago to pick a Christian running mate for the 2027 governorship election, said Christians already feel insecure and would be more comfortable with a Christian vice-presidential candidate.

He warned that repeating the Muslim-Muslim ticket could have “grievous consequences” for the APC’s electoral chances.

The APC stalwart, however, clarified that his position was not against Vice President Shettima or the Muslim community.


“I have nothing against the Vice President or the Muslim community. I am speaking for equity, justice and fairness in the political arrangement of the country,” he added..

So, what can such an amount afford for someone who wants to really go into akara business?

Here is a breakdown:

1. Gas cylinder (3kg): ₦25,000
2. Cooking gas (3kg): ₦1900 × 3 = ₦5700
3. 1 painter of white beans (depending on the location): approximately ₦5000
4. Groundnut oil (2 litres): approximately ₦4500
5. Medium-size frying pan: ₦11,000
6. Utensils and containers: ₦10,000
7. Ingredients (pepper, salt, Maggi etc): ₦2000
8. Beans grinding cost: say ₦500 per round.

TOTAL: ₦63,700

VERDICT: Even for low income earners, ₦50,000 is insufficient to start akara business.

Even that is still very high compared to the price of crude oil just before Feb 28th 2026. The pump price then was around 700 and I remember the same Dangote saying the price will soon get to 500naira/liter.

So why is it that at the same price crude was un Februaty, we are buying fuel at over 1100naira/liter?
