EXAMPLE OF LANDRACE (LOCAL) VARIETY: Agbagba Erin

* Agbagba Erin is NOT an hybrid variety, it's a landrace variety otherwise known as local variety

* Agbagba Erin local variety and fellow local varieties are susceptible (not resistant) to disease e.g Black Sigatoka (deadly disease).
* Agbagba Erin local variety and fellow local varieties are NOT drought tolerant.
* Agbagba Erin local variety and fellow local varieties are NOT lodging resistance.
* Agbagba Erin local variety and fellow local varieties have lower yield (smaller fruit/finger, smaller bunch, lower number of fruits/fingers per bunch)

* YIELD PERFORMANCE AND POST-HARVEST POTENTIAL OF HYBRID AGAINST LANDRACE/LOCAL:
(bunch size, number of fingers, growth habit, time of maturity period, flowering period, drought tolerant, disease resistance, lodging resistance, pest resistance, fruit size, ripening period, height, processed product, cooking quality, taste, flavour, colour, texture)

Hybrid variety e.g PITA14 has higher and better yield performance and post-harvest potential than any Landrace/Local variety e.g Agbagba Erin.

* Don't be decieved anylonger by sellers who buy or harvest local suckers, then tell you it's hybrid, 'AGBAGBA ERIN' is NOT an hybrid, it's a landrace otherwise known as a local plantain.
