The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)
may be going on another very long strike just a
year after they called off their 5-month long
strike,
following the Federal Government inability to
honour the agreement it reached with the
lecturers during the last strike.
Speaking yesterday at a press briefing in
remembrance of the killing of former ASUU leader,
Professor Festus Iyayi by the convoy of Kogi
State
Governor, Captain Idris Wada, ASUU lamented the
failure of the Federal Government to fulfill its
promises.
The union disclosed that no government-owned
university had received a dime from the N200
billion the government said it had set aside for
the
revitalization of university education in the current
year.
Chairman, Nnamdi Azikiwe University branch of
ASUU, Comrade Dennis Aribidor said: “It seems
Iyayi’s death opened the pandora box that
suggests that ASUU’s relationship with
government might seem irreconcilably hostile.
While he fought for a just cause, ASUU is
presently
skeptical that he died in vain especially since the
contention over honouring the ASUU-FG 2009
agreement, which cut his life short, is still far-
fetched. This position is based on some hard
truths.”

....na around 3am..aug 13 i saw my result....I remembered I couldn't sleep at all... d night....d tension waas so high to d extent I almost developed HBP.....as in my heart was heavy + no sleep....I visited d page like 50tyms everyday....even visited it around 11pm aug 12 bfor sleep carry me go small...but at d end it was gud....so guys....kulu tempa...all is well

2009...I put in for medicine...but d set was merged with d 08 set...d result was DAT...if normally dey do admit like 60 for medicine...dey will now admit like 10 to 30 and most of which has long legs tho....so, jambittes start praying cos dis struggle is now getting to you too...

SUMMARY OF THE SENATE DECISIONS ON
THE OOU CRISIS
This Senate said:
- That the university and students cannot gain
from the cancellation of 2013/14 SESSION.
- That the 2013/14 session would be the
shortest session in OOU cos it was compressed
due to ASUU and students ' crisis which
consumed part of it.
- That the time lost to the crises would be
catered for to ensure students are properly
taught and examined appropriately.
- That students union govt and governing
council have to further shift grounds to resolve
the crisis in the interest of the university.
Various options were proposed on the
implementation of the reduction.
- That if an agreement is reached by both
parties, lectures can resume on Monday, 22nd
September, 2014.
*ISSUE*
We should pray that God will touch the minds of
the parties concerned.
