Mammi water spirit is different from Olokun or Osun or Oya. Although they are all water spirits but they operate differently. Both Olokun and Mami water use similar symbols which represent water and are used as a vehicle into the spiritual world.

Native chalk is used for Olokun while talcum powder is used for mami water. Mami water is a very recent development so most of the things used are modern.
