Hello Nairalanders,

Please, I need advice regarding my cousin’s visitor visa application. She applied in October 2023 through an agent, but since then, there has been no update. The agent keeps saying “nothing yet” and refuses to provide her login details for the IRCC account.

Is there any way for her to check the status of her application herself? Can she recover access to the account or request GCMS notes to know what is going on?

Any advice on what she can do at this point would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately she can't without login details. Also very likely is that the agent created another email address for her. If she has the email, then she can reset password.

It think about a week after its confirmed to have arrived their office in lagos. I used dhl and was tracking its movement. Lagos n then abuja i think and back to lagos. I allowed some days no message n i sent a message on twitter. Within 24 hours, i got d message, ready for pickup.
Just checked: after 2 weeks i sent the message.My message captured my tracking number and my name for reference purpose.

I don't know much about visitor visa but the few that i know: past travel history ( has the family travelled together before),
home ties (apart from the job),
no lump sum on the account or a good explanation to the lump sum.
To and fro ticket too.

Why are you making it look like being in Canada to work is trap and one cannot visit their home country. Don't you know that visiting your home country and returning gives you more credibility as a Foreign immigrant. If you have an active work or study permit and you can apply for TRV or if the one you have when entering is valid you can travel out of Canada and return back. Stop making it look like living in Canada as a foreign immigrant is a trap.

For clarity sake, i never said a Nigerian cannot travel back home! A work permit is a temporary visa and if you or anyone has one, you will be told at port of entry that anytime you travel out of canada, it will be revalidated and re+issued. So, with stricter rules around Canadian immigration, i mentioned that the concern should be on re-entry cos border officer now have authority to cancel and deny. I remembered someone being asked a few questions where as, i was asked none. Of course, i didn't wait to know whether he is eventually given. In fact, we met there and as guys, startled talking n which led to me knowing what happened btw him n the officer n stuff.
Temporary visa is temporary, until things get soft with immigration, my opinion is be mindful. Thanks

As a Nigerian, you don't need a visa please! Re-entry into Canada as a temporary resident should be your concern. Border service officers has authority and can cancel your visa and deny entry!

Hi, As a Nigerian(your Nigerian passport is in place too): All you need is to buy a ticket. Do be aware that at port of entry, your work permit will be reviewed again ( eg pof, etc, all this questions are 50:50) and hopefully issued.Re-entry is like getting it the first time. So going is not a concern and i will advise that the reason for travelling out of canada is important, makes sense to anyone and all documents and information are intact! Thanks

I just want to ask if it's okay not to have gotten passport stamped since January 27th. we got notification that the passport has been received at the Canada Embassy.
The passport was tracked but since showing under processing in canada.

What can be done

Usually does not take that long. I believe its vfs, you can chat them on twitter. That's what I did after about a week self. Although I didn't get a response on twitter but was notified for pickup within 24 hours.

Not needed if flight is just one-stop but required if you have 2-stop. Eg. France and Belgium.
