And u are absolutely correct too 0/0= (100+100)(100-100)/ (100+100)(100-100) = 1 The more reason why anything divided by 0 is UNDEFINED (can take any form) |

skyope: Good you learning something.
Reading through the post of most here, I have noticed the believe that (a+b)/(a+b) will always be 1. This is not true. I cannot over emphasize that it is only true for non-zeroes of 'a' and 'b'. For an absolute truth, you must strictly apply BODMAS.
This is where the trick is. It is really just a trick. Playing on the believe that (a+b)/(a+b) will always be 1.
In fact, that is the purpose of the entire exercise.
BODMAS is king, forever. (a+b)/(a+b) will be equal to one iff a=a and b=b, but mehn, Algebra is not as confused as u! a is a and b is b, so why will their sums not conceal each other out BODMAS? Primary school stuff.....there are theorems, corollary and definitions that make it less applicable. |

skyope: There is no manipulation in mathematics. This is just a classical mathematical illusion where what is right is replaced by what appears to work.
Application of BODMAS strictly will destroy the logic expressed. BODMAS is as elementary as it gets when dealing with A-level algebra. I forgot to " " the manipulation. (I.e "manipulation" If u ve done trigonometry in its advanced form (even elementary), u'll get wat I'm saying. As for his equation, its simple and plain to see. The rules of BODMAS negligible |

skyope: Hehe.
I dont even know where to start.
First with english. Undefined is not the same as infinity. For this purpose, it is the same as indeterminate. For this, Google.com is your friend.
Secondly, you confuse what works, with what is right. (a+b+c)/(a+b+c) with didvision first is only equal to 1 when a,b and c are non-zeroes. The non-zeroes part is really important. Else we have to follow BODMAS strictly by solving the bracket b4 the division.
B4 you respond, try google zero divided by zero, so no need for argument.
0/0 is undefined and yes indeed, indeterminate.
By the way, what is a termic bracket Performing standard arithmetic with negaive/positive infinity is UNDEFINED, so 0/0 could be manipulated to fall in this set of numbers. Mathematics for u bro |

ikennaya100: Its not easy for one to think out those steps.kudos for that but, I have to stress that he got it wrong in figure 3. Every mathematical proof has to be consistent, therefore the numerator and the denominator should be expressed the same way. Thus, for a mathematical expression or proof to be correct; it has to be consistent . In the law of Algebra, anything goes. 1 can be log10 base 10, or wateva u presume just to achieve a set Proof! The only fault in this is the naïve mindset. 0/0 can be anything betw 1 and positive infinity only with the condition of using numbers with complete square (e.g 4,9,16,25....) |

CashVessel: So wrong; the BODMAS principle was broken. Secondly, 10 x 10 - 10x 10 cannot be 10(10-10). That's an error. 10x10-10x10 = 10(10-10).... He didn't even need to include the step. It is correct Sir! |

cupid1: He started failing it from the point where he struck out 10 and -10,the 10 on top is supposed to equate to -1 when divided by -1 which when put into the equation, will give you 19/10. And secondly, you cant stricke out numbers that way. They are in brackets in their own different equations i.e an equation in an equation. So my point is, the person who provided this so called 'proof' is a dullard You need to take back ur words cos it's very correct and true! Any number/0 is undefined Undefined in the sense that it can be manipulated to produce any number (from negative infinity to positive infinity) So I guess he has a point......but he "unknowingly" proved the fact of the undefined nature of a denominator zero. To further prove that; you can replace all the 100 by another number with a perfect square..(4,9,16,25,36.............). I would say it is mathematically interesting cos if looked into can emit some interesting corollary N.B: I'm a graduate of Mathematical Sciences (Statistics) so I know what I'm saying. Bless u |

Take it easy. You don't know me from jack so you don't know about my dispositions to 'government jobs'. Government job doesn't thrill everyone and i am one of such. (and this isn't for lack of opportunity/access to government jobs). Which kind of job will force one to 'form poverty' just not to attract attention. Sunday flexing, really? So Monday to Friday is for suffer-head?...No, i'll pass life is too short abeg. Maybe u don't know with Government Jobs u av access to long term loans (car, housing or credit) and many other benefits like going abroad for further training, annual leave, study leave (with or without pay).......you dont (or rarely) get this from the private sector. I'm a government worker and I can tell you first hand that as a young guy, my career is developing more rapidly as I have time for my ICAN and Masters programme.......also my mum has a frozen food business, and I'm part of it now. Health › Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by brytandre(m): 10:58am On Jan 25, 2015 |
lomaxx: The bump ( what you called 'growth' ) is called Pinguecula. Typically inflamed by exposure to dust, sun, wind. When it becomes inflamed( as evidenced by the redness and pain in your left eye) it becomes pingueculitis.
Typically presents as reddish painful eye that doesn't resolve on administration of antibiotic eye drop. This is because antibiotic kills bacteria but not inflammation.
Treatment of the pain and redness of pingueculitis is steroid eye drop. The steroid won't make the yellow bump(pinguecula) go away. It would remove the inflammation so you won't have the pain and redness.
The only way to remove it is surgical excision.
Meanwhile, see your ophthalmologist. And avoid sun rays. Your shades should come handy here.
PS: I love your history. Straight to the point and very helpful for instant diagnosis. Thanks very much Dr, I do feel much better now as I have my shades on whenever I go out. The pinguecula is still there and the area around it is slightly reddish. I'm yet to use any steroid eyedrop, and I've not been to the clinic. please can u recommend a steroid eye drop I can use, I mean a product. Thank you |
