Education › Senate Pegs JAMB Application Fee At N2,500 by Brytawon(op): 5:41pm On Mar 02, 2016 |
The Senate on Wednesday pegged the fee payable to Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) at N2, 500. The upper chamber also extended JAMB entrance examination validity period to three years from one year. The resolutions followed the submission and consideration of the report on JAMB admission policies submitted by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, Senator Binta Masi Garba. JAMB applicants’ currently pay N5, 650 to obtain JAMB application forms. The upper chamber also said that its relevant committees should work to ensure the amendment of JAMB Act to reflect resolutions. The Senate adopted the recommendation of its committee that JAMB fee should not exceed N2,500, while institution and course forms and all other incidental activities around the examination should be free. The Senate on November 17, 2015 adopted a resolution and directed its committee on tertiary institutions and TETFund to inquire into circumstances surrounding the new JAMB policy including allegations of favouritism as well as review of JAMB admission. The new JAMB policy entails that a candidate will make a choice of one university, one polytechnic and one college of education and then sit for a computer based test (CBT) to gain admission into any tertiary institution in the country. www.thenationonlineng.net/senate-pegs-jamb-application-fee-at-n2500/ |
Business › UNEP Lifts Trade Embargo On Nigeria by Brytawon(op): 4:49pm On Mar 02, 2016 |
Nigeria’s Minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed, has announced that the United Nations Environment programme (UNEP) has lifted the suspension on trade between Nigeria and other countries in all endangered plant and animal species as well as related products. She has also asked Nigerians to do everything within the law to protect the country’s wildlife. According to her, Nigeria stands the risk of losing economic and social opportunities which wildlife presents to the country’s economy in particular and the eco system in general if not properly handled. “Endangering wild life threatens our personal wellbeing, the livelihood of local communities and our natural heritage,” Mohammed stated this Wednesday. “Wildlife forms a significant part of our biodiversity and plays a unique role as an indicator of ecological change. Without wildlife, we will lose the opportunity of economic and social value which wildlife brings to our ecosystem”. The minister spoke against the background of World Wildlife Day, which is celebrated every 3rd of March as established by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on the 20th of December, 2013 at its 68th session. It is a day set aside for all nations of the world to focus on the critical importance of protecting our Fauna and Flora, (plants and animals) which are our essential and natural heritage for now and future generations. The day offers an opportunity to re-affirm our commitments to the protection and preservation of wildlife. The theme for this year’s World Wild Life Day is “The future of wildlife is in our hands”. www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/03/02/unep-lifts-trade-embargo-on-nigeria/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=facebook |

GMan650: Even if Darmian is 100% fit, I prefer Varela to him but I'm sure he isn't 100% fit so he might not start. It seems u wanna see this Rashford of a guy in all our line-up henceforth If Martial is fit enough then he should start up-front flanked by Depay and Lingard wif Mata behind him. We would really need Schneiderlin today to track down Deeney and Ighalo's run. Smalling should also return to CB (we need him).
BTW, I think LVG is unimpressed with the efforts of McNair as he has sit more games than he has been used this season even when he had to be subbed in to wrap victories e.g against Chelsea and Arsenal I want us to start building up our own Xavis, Iniestas, Mullers and the rest. In our last game against Arsenal, we only had two players who were above 26. That's impressive! Our academy lads have a great future before them and I support such systems but Mourinho has a bad record in implementing such and I know Giggs knows what it means to "have our own". |

GMan650: Watz yur take on tonight's match I prefer my thoughts to come after the game. Martial and Darmian should be available for today's selection with Smalling probably joining them. I would love to see Martial and Rashford being patterned. Watford are a stubborn team to beat so I want a game of pace and a little bit of possession. I also tip Depay to start but I know LVG will still go for the 4-2-3-1 formation. The good news is that most of our injured players are coming back this month and most notable is Luke Shaw. I just wish Will Keane had better luck coz I him to have a career in Manchester United but it seems otherwise now. |

GMan650: Largas : From ur long epistle you've spoken well. But I think we should employ a world-class coach that can revive our status for 2 years. After which Giggsy can now takeover; my reason is just that it will be easier for Giggs to takeover a revived team than a shattered team cos if Giggs should takeover now, itz gonna take a whole lot of time to put the team back in shape and the fans might not be that patient.
And the best manager in that mould is Mourinho who has a proven track record of 2-year success in every team he manages.
Brytawon : I believe Rashford isn't of 'the cult hero' status yet. Yes, he has scored 4 goals cos of his excellent positioning but position of a striker is more of that. Though I'm happy as a fan that we've a youngster we can rely on in times of injury but I believe he is not yet ready to be called a potential star. I made my assumption from his 2matches I watched, though I haven't seen him train so I can't give a conclusive report as regards his potentials We can only achieve if we begin to believe in our dreams. Rashford is the new dream. [The Theatre of Dreams] |
