These tariffs means that the prices of iPhones are going to triple along with other goods like Nike and others. This is the very reason why people are out on the streets of US protesting against these tariffs because it's going to massively affect them.

The opportunity have come for them to start producing them locally, trump is promoting and protecting them now.

I think what trump is doing is to protect their home made goods, a lot goods coming in outside(imported) with lesser tariff are far more cheaper than the ones produced in USA thereby killing most the goods produced locally.
